Crack cocaine and marijuana traffic stop seizure

MATTAWA - A Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting general patrol on Valois Drive in the town of Mattawa on May 8, 2012 when he stopped a vehicle travelling westbound at 2:45 p.m.

As a result of the traffic stop and further investigation, the officer seized 600 grams of crack cocaine and 5.4 kilograms (12lbs) of suspected marijuana.

The drugs street values are estimated at approximately $170,000.

42-year-old Anthony Zicari of North Bay Ontario was arrested and charged with the following offences:

Possession for the purpose Schedule II over 3 kg, contrary to CDSA s. 5(2)
Possession for the purpose Schedule I - cocaine contrary to CDSA s. 5(2)

Zicari was held in custody pending a bail hearing today in North Bay.
