NE LHIN hosts successful first-ever Virtual Coffee Break Panel for Mental Health Week

(May 8, 2012) – Earlier today, the North East LHIN held a first-ever event - a Virtual Coffee Break Panel Discussion to mark Mental Health Week 2012 (May 7-11) - with updates on service and access improvements for Northerners.

Hosted live by CEO Louise Paquette, panelists from across the NE LHIN region updated mental health improvements aimed at reducing fragmentation of services for Northerners.

The panel included: Dr. Tim Zmijowskyj, the NE LHIN’s primary care lead;  Linda Brown, caregiver support counsellor and executive director, Alzheimer Society of North Bay & District; Vincent Casey, board member for the Algoma Anchor Agency, Sault Ste. Marie; Kathryn Irwin-Seguin, executive director, Iris Addiction Recovery, Sudbury; Harry Jones, executive director, Jubilee Centre, Timmins,

Anyone in Northeastern Ontario could join the coffee break by teleconference or submit questions for panel members.

The 30-minute session was taped and will be available as a podcast within 24 hours at this website.

“I was encouraged at the interest this event prompted on this very important subject,” says Louise Paquette, CEO of the NE LHIN. “Across Northeastern Ontario, our LHIN funds 48 mental health and addiction providers. We are working with each of them to ensure more seamless and easier to navigate services for fellow Northerners.”
