Cameron & Patricia provide advice - in T.O.

Local student representatives serving on the Minister of Education’s Student Advisory Council met with Sault MPP David Orazietti today at Queen's Park.

Local student representatives serving on the Minister of Education’s Student Advisory Council met with Sault MPP David Orazietti today at Queen's Park.

The council includes students in Grades 7 to 12 from across the province who provide input to the minister on the education system.

Grade 12 student Cameron Aitken (shown with Orazietti) from the Algoma District School Board and Grade 7 student Patricia Diotte from the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board are two of 60 students on the advisory body.

Council members are also invited to participate in Regional Student Forums, one-day consultations involving students from different regions.

The council is part of the Student Voice initiative, a strategy to better engage students to increase achievement and graduation rates.

“I’m very pleased that two students from the Sault and area have been appointed to the year’s council because they will bring a local perspective to today’s discussion,” Orazietti said in a news release.
