Changes to the 90th annual Rotary Community Day Parade!

SAULT STE. MARIE - If you’re planning on attending or participating in this year’s 90th annual Rotary Community Day Parade presented by Brookfield, expect some changes.

This year’s parade theme is Celebrate!, and because there are so many important anniversaries, the parade will be decade-themed.

Each entry is required to embrace a decade, and attendees will get to view the 1800’s right through to the modern era.

Whether you miss doing the Charleston, can’t bear to get rid of your cat-eye glasses, or still listen to disco music, there will be something for everyone on July 21, 2012.

The parade will begin at its usual time, 11 a.m., but will not begin at its usual location.

Road work scheduled for Queen Street means that the parade will begin at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre.

The route then heads up Pim Street, turns left onto Queen, and then marches the same route as it has in years past, right along Queen to Gore Street.

For the visual folks out there, we created a handy map.

If you are interested in participating, parade applications are available at www.rotaryfest.com

You can also access parade applications through our Facebook page, or by emailing [email protected].

Rotaryfest, The Sault’s Summer Festival!, is celebrating 90 years of bringing family fun, excitement, and memorable moments to the Sault community.

The festivities run from July 19-21 centered in Clergue Park.

The festival presents a number of exciting events including The Stage which features three days of free entertainment, The Tenaris Second Stage - a celebration of original art and music, Cirque du Rotaryfest - featuring eye-popping routines of Cirque performers, the 90th annual Rotary Community Day Parade preceded by participants in the Miracle Mile, the glint of steel and hot wheels featured in the Wheels on the Water Car Show, and the hands-on fun of the Essar Steel Algoma PlayZone.
