Sault Ste. Marie KOA now open for summer camping season

Local campground is one of 485 now in North American KOA system

The Sault Ste. Marie KOA Campground, located at 501 Fifth Line East, is now open and welcoming campers for the 2012 summer camping season.

The Sault Ste. Marie KOA is one of 485 open-to-the-public KOA campgrounds now in the Kampgrounds of America system in the United States and Canada.

“We are celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2012, and we hope everyone who has ever enjoyed camping with us will come back, bring their friends and share the joys camping,” said KOA president Pat Hittmeier. “Campers in this area are so fortunate to have a wonderful KOA campground right at their doorstep. We know our local owners have plans to make 2012 a great year for their guests.”

As part of KOA’s 50th Anniversary celebration, KOA has partnered with the Keystone RV Company and Coleman for the KOA 50th Anniversary Giveaway.

Campers will have a chance to win one of 50 weeks of free KOA camping, one of eight $500 Coleman.com shopping sprees, or a $40,000 Keystone Vantage recreational vehicle.

“A lot of campers are discovering that they have a great KOA very close to home,” Hittmeier said. “There is just no better way to share quality time with your family and friends.”

All campers are reminded that they can pick up a new 2012 50th Anniversary Edition of the KOA Directory [cover shown] absolutely free at any KOA campground.

The directory is a complete travel atlas of every state and Canadian province, and includes descriptive listings of each KOA campground as well as detailed maps and directions to each location.

Kampgrounds of America, founded on the banks of the Yellowstone River in Billings, Montana in 1962, is now the world’s largest system of open-to-the-public family campgrounds.
