Skyward-looking late-nighters saw some amazing sites over the Sault and area early today.

Mother Nature presented an impressive Northern Lights show observed by many faithful SooToday.com readers.

Sue Pasternak sent us the shot above taken in the backyard of her Central Creek Drive home (south of Third Line West and east of Goulais Avenue) in the Sault.

"It was cold and windy, but it was worth it to see such a great display," she says.

The first three gallery photos were submitted by Matti Pulkkinen and were taken outside his apartment on Rankin.

He also shot some time-lapse video.

Matti says Northern Lights forecasts are available at this website.

His photos are followed by others taken at 1 a.m. on St Joseph Island at Stribling Point by Chuck and Teresa Parker.

They used a camera on a tripod and a 35-second bulb exposure.

Chuck and Teresa suggested another useful site to track the status of the Northern Lights for our area.
