Celebrate 100! civic anniversary week begins April 16
SAULT STE. MARIE - April 16, 2012 marks the 100th anniversary of the Incorporation of the City of Sault Ste. Marie.
Mayor Debbie Amaroso and members of City Council invite you to a full week of activities taking place at the Civic Centre in celebration of this historic event.
April 16 - Historic Council Meeting
Council Chambers, Level 3, 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.
- Town Crier will proclaim our City’s 100th birthday
- 1912 DVD presentation by Kim Forbes, Sault Ste. Marie Museum
- Members of Council will tell stories depicting our City’s history
- Meeting minutes taken by “1912 City Clerk Charles James Pim” (portrayed by actor Tim Murphy)
- 100th anniversary birthday cake
- Royal Sovereign Sea Cadets Band 4 – 4:30 p.m. (main lobby)

April 17 to 19 - Civic Centre Public Open House
Main lobby and Russ Ramsay Board Room – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Historical and departmental displays
- “Our 100 Years in Photos” slide show
- Tour the Council Chambers
- Sign the archival record book to be deposited in the Celebrate 100! Time Capsule
- Birthday cupcakes and refreshments
- Celebrate 100! Souvenirs and give-a-ways
April 20 - Sault Ste. Marie 20-Minute Makeover
Participate in a city-wide 20-Minute Makeover on Friday, April 20.
To take part, clean up outside your home or business for 20 minutes.
Registered participants will receive a litter clean-up kit, while supplies last.
Registration forms and event information is available on the City website under City Hall Bulletins.
The Sault’s first ever Makeover event will kick-off at the Civic Centre at 11 a.m.
