Cause of house fire not known

In the early morning hours of February 11, 2012, at approximately 02:30 hours, Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services responded to a structural fire in the 100 block of Edison Avenue.

Upon arrival, Fire Services personnel encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure.  

Fire crews were forced to perform an exterior attack due to the extensive fire damage to the home.  

Frigid temperatures of -20 C were a contributing factor to the working conditions for Fire Services personnel. 

The fire was brought under control at approximately 04:20 hours. 

Fortunately, no one was in the home when fire crews arrived at the scene.  

As a result of the fire, one firefighter received a minor injury when manipulating the fire hose. 

The cause of the fire is not suspicious and remains undetermined.
