Tom Dodds, the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation’s chief executive officer, is referenced several times in a Globe and Mail article published today.

In the piece, the federal NDP say Tony Clement (shown) should turn himself in to police because documents show he lied about his part in distributing $50 million from a G8 slush fund in 2010.

Clement’s Parry Sound-Muskoka riding benefitted significantly from the money choices made.

At the time, he was the Harper government's Industry minister.

Clement's responsibilities included FedNor.

Dodds was then a senior official with the agency in Sault Ste. Marie.

Clements has repeatedly denied having had a hand in choosing G8 projects for support.

Today's Globe article cites a memo and e-mail written by Dodds.

In them he appears to paint a very different picture of Clement’s involvement.

Dodds was chosen for the SSMEDC’s top job in February 2011.

In a cabinet shuffle last May, Clement became president of the Treasury Board.
