John from the Sault takes his remarkable skill set to the LHIN

John Febbraro is the newest Northerner to join the North East Local Health Integration Network’s (NE LHIN) Board of Directors. 

The Sault Ste. Marie resident is the Director of Business Development for the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation, a position he has held for the past 15 years. 

“We are very pleased to welcome John to the North East LHIN Board,” said Board Chair, Danielle Bélanger-Corbin.  “John brings a remarkable skill set that includes economic development, strategic planning, quality management, financial management, as well as an ability to develop and sustain partnerships.”

Febbraro’s governance experience and community involvement spans many organizations, including serving on the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) Board, a member of the Transportation Infrastructure Committee, and President of the Algoma Canadian Cancer Society. 

“The diverse skill set that John brings to the North East LHIN board will be of great benefit as we take steps towards strengthening our region’s health care,” said David Orazietti, MPP for Sault Ste. Marie.  “I would like to extend my sincere thanks to John for his devotion and commitment to the health and well-being of our community.”

“This is an exciting time to join the LHIN Board as it embarks on a new strategic plan and works with all health system partners to improve health care for Northerners,” said Febbraro.

QUICK FACTS

• Prior to joining the economic development corporation, Febbraro was President of a small business consulting group in Sault Ste. Marie that was heavily involved in business consulting and developing quality management systems. He has also held positions in Ottawa with the Canadian Space Agency and EH Industries in a program management capacity.
• Febbraro is currently completing an MBA with the University of Liverpool.
• LHIN Directors are appointed by Order-In-Council for a term of up to three years, subject to a two-term maximum. The Board of Directors is accountable, through the Chair, to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care for the LHIN’s use of public funds and for its results in terms of goals and performance of the local health system.
• The North East LHIN Board includes Danielle Bélanger-Corbin, Chair, Rick Cooper, Vice-Chair, as well as Board Directors Dr. Colin Germond, Santina Marasco, Dawn Madahbee, Denis Bérubé, Toni Nanne-Little, and now its newest member, John Febbraro.
