Driver leads police on high-speed chase

Just after 2:30 a.m. officers on routine patrol observed a small SUV travelling northbound on Pim Street just south of Bruce Street.

Officers activated the roof lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the vehicle; however the driver did not stop.   

There was little traffic in the area however the roads were wet with snow and rain.

The suspect vehicle continued to travel north on Great Northern Road, onto Laurentian Drive, failed to stop at the stop sign at Laurentian Drive and Willow Avenue, continued southbound on Willow Avenue, failed to stop for the stop sign at Willow Avenue and Willoughby Street before stopping on Willow Avenue in the area of the Cambrian Mall.

It is alleged that speeds of up to 120 kilometers were reached during the pursuit and the vehicle also weaved out of the lane of travel.  

The female driver was taken into custody without incident. 

She showed signs of impairment and upon being searched a small quantity of cocaine was located on the suspect. 

In addition the accused was wanted on a warrant for theft for of alcohol from the LCBO on Great Northern Road from an investigation in August of this year.
