Weekend Outlook: Quiet weekend and a November wrap-up

With November quickly coming to a close, I thought I’d put this past month in perspective. With a raging El Nino in the Pacific, the temperatures across the Great Lakes were certainly above normal.

With November quickly coming to a close, I thought I’d put this past month in perspective.

With a raging El Nino in the Pacific, the temperatures across the Great Lakes were certainly above normal.

The Sault region's average temperature for November was +5.1°C, which is just over 4 degrees warmer than the 30-year average of +1°C.

All-time high temperatures were broken in the first week of the month as we reached +20°C.

With almost 100mm of precipitation we were only a bit above normal, but the type of precipitation was far from normal.

We would usually see 41cm of snowfall in November but so far just over 20cm has fallen, half of what would be expected.

Rainfall totals were double what usually falls, thanks entirely to the warmer weather.

This coming weekend looks to bring average weather for what normally occurs at the end of November, but first we must get through a cool Friday.

Temperatures on Friday will remain below freezing all day with a cool north wind bringing even colder windchills.

Sunshine should make an appearance later in the day.

Saturday brings sunshine and temperatures a bit above freezing – which is normal for this time of year.

Sunday will see a few clouds, but once again the temperatures climb above freezing.

As the El Nino continues in the Pacific Ocean, expect a December much like November.

We are likely to see warm spells and a little more rain than usual.

As we move towards the New Year we could see some strong winter storms and increased lake-effect snow events.
