Teens host a Game-A-Thon to raise funds for senior and disabled residents

Royal Canadian Legion Br. 374, St. Joseph Island

Teen Game Night is organizing a Game-A-Thon and Community B.B.Q. on May 2, 2015 at the Royal Canadian Legion lounge from noon until 9 p.m.

The profits will be shared with the Dr. Harold S. Trefry Memorial Centre.

Teen Game Night is a weekly event, sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 374 Ladies’ Auxiliary.

Teens from as far as Sault Ste. Marie to Thessalon have joined the weekly Saturday 6 to 9 p.m. Teen Game Night.

In the lounge they play board games, pool and cards at no cost.

Fourty teens have registered since the first night on November 15, 2015 and not one of them minds the 'no electronics' rule.

Now they want to say thank you by offering a gift to the Dr. Harold S. Trefry Memorial Centre which provides necessary community support and services to seniors and disabled persons so they can remain in their own homes.

Dr. Harold S. Trefry’s philosophy was that: “No one should be denied medical care because of cost.”

He also strongly valued individuals.

The conscientious teens recognize the importance of community responsibility and take great pride in helping the Dr. Harold S. Trefry Memorial Centre which offers programs from the western border of Bruce Mines to Echo Bay, including St. Joseph Island.

Their outreach program includes: Adult Day Out, Congregate Dining, Home Maintenance, Meals on Wheels, Telephone Reassurance, Friendly Visiting and Transportation.
