'Vanishing of the Bees' to be screened by Clean NorthFriday, February 28, 2014 by: Greener Ideal
Honey bees are responsible for 1/3 of our food supply. They are the angels of agriculture but are disappearing at an alarming rate in a phenomenon known as CCD (colony collapse disorder). The documentary “Vanishing of the Bees” takes a piercing look at the economic, political and ecological implications of the world wide disappearance of the honey bee. It is believed that CCD is largely due to the growing contamination of their hives with pesticides, especially the newer systemic pesticides (neonicotinoids).
Clean North will show the documentary “Vanishing of the Bees” on Saturday March 1st, at 1;30 at Sault College, Essar Hall as part of Seedy Saturday. Filmed in USA, Europe, Australia, and Asia, this is a film you don’t want to miss whether you are a gardener or just someone who cares.
