Many people rely on their cars as a mode of transport but very few consider using other options, which could save them money and save the planet in the process.

So, here are 5 reasons why you should get rid of your car:

1. Price Hikes

The premium of driving is constantly on the climb, with insurance prices taking a hike, maintenance fees also increasing and petrol prices causing headaches across the globe. So, now could be the perfect time to get rid of your car and opt for a cheaper alternative.

2. Public Transport

If you were to use public transport, you would help save 855 million gallons of fuel. A frightening statistic, but this is just one of many that could make you think differently about all the money being spent on petrol and diesel.

3. Car Recycling

Getting rid of your car can often seem like hard work, especially if the condition of it is not the greatest. Although, car recycling allows many people to get rid of their car for cash which could be more than part exchanging it, or when they might have fetched less from a private buyer. Recycling is also great for the environment too and some car recycling companies allow you to recycle your car for charity.

4. Car Accidents

Last year, it was reported that nearly 200,000 people were injured or, worse, killed on our roads through accidents involving cars. This statistic could be massively reduced if many opted to use public transport or cycling.

5. Buy A New Car

If you love to drive (and a lot of people do) then you could always invest in a new car that is more economical and produces fewer emissions. This option may be a bit pricey in the outset but with reduced tax, reduced fuel and more miles per gallon, the return on investment could be well worth it.

Being smarter about saving money and energy is important, so making a few changes could see your finances skyrocket.
