Coca-Cola Canada rolls up its sleeves in support of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup

OTTAWA - Teams of Coca-Cola Canada employees are rolling out across the country over the next two weeks in support of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup.

As part of its commitment to make a positive difference in communities across Canada, Coca-Cola is joining efforts to protect and conserve shorelines across Canada and help keep them beautiful and free of litter.

"We look forward to rolling up our sleeves in support of these cross-Canada cleanups," said John Guarino, president, Coca-Cola Refreshments Canada. "Coast-to-coast, over 40 Coca-Cola facilities will be joining community efforts to clean up Canada's shorelines."

"The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is a great conservation initiative where the public can get involved to directly address the issue of aquatic debris," said Gerald Butts, president and CEO, World Wildlife Fund Canada. "The Vancouver Aquarium and WWF are delighted that Coca-Cola is joining us to mobilize tens of thousands of Canadians in affecting positive change."

Litter greatly threatens wildlife and water quality in Canada's rivers, streams and waterways.

These problems are preventable and keeping the waterways free from debris is one of the easiest ways Canadians can support the nation's fragile ecosystems.

"Water is an essential ingredient in our beverages and we recognize our responsibility to protect this resource," said Mr. Guarino. "We're engaged in initiatives like the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup to encourage our associates and the communities in which we work and live to get involved. We can all do more working together than we can on our own."

Coca-Cola Canada invites all Canadians to join their community to get involved to help preserve Canada's waterways and keep our shorelines beautiful and litter-free.

Individuals and community groups can get more information and get involved in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup by visiting here.

The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is a grassroots conservation program that aims to promote understanding and education about shoreline conservation issues by engaging Canadians to rehabilitate shoreline areas through cleanups.

This is a conservation initiative of the Vancouver Aquarium and WWF with Loblaw as a presenting sponsor.

Last year, over 56,000 people registered to participate in the event across the country.
