BIO

Artistic Fashion

Singer/Songwriter Sarah Burton has been ripping up the Toronto music scene since her debut in 2003. Her style can range from soft and gentle like a young Lisa Loeb to jarring and in your face, reminiscent to those followers of Ani DiFranco. But what really sets this beautiful guitar player apart from others is the way she puts the images in her head down on paper. Songs like “I Hate You” (because I still like you) and “Up to Here” show a confident and grounded artist that knows life is made up of many journeys and the songs she writes are just to share these experiences with others. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is not afraid to allow listeners in to her ups and downs, triumphs and defeats. Every song welcomes the listener into a part of her life that she felt warranted a song

Spanish Eyes

Sarah Burton’s musical career began on a Hasbro xylophone as a youngster that eventually led her parents to enroll her in piano lessons. By the age of thirteen, Sarah began to tire of practicing those sonatas, turning her attention to a piece of her heritage to further her love affair. Her father had kept an old classical guitar from Spain as a memory to his teenage years in Madrid. He kept it under the piano that Sarah was practicing on all those years and she often turned to it when looking for a new outlet to inspire her. That lonely instrument became her new passion and began lessons leading her down the singer/songwriter path she is on today.
