Hope your Hubby is ok,, he will be, no worry... MALLET... best to get what you can do today,Thunderstorms tomorrow,, or so they say... Rained here last night but no " booms ".. I was up early and the Moon and the sky was beautiful,, as the clouds passed over the Moon it looked like one of those big blue and white plunkers ( marbles ) the swirley coloured ones..... Later....

JUST CURIOUS... I got a call last night from a Male friend who was a bit hurt as he didn't get " dit squat " from his kids either,, more brainwashed kids out there and some just don't give a crap for anyone till they want something. I told him about you and he's thinking of getting a dog now ,lol... Have a great day my friend....
Just Curious 6/16/2014 9:36:26 AM Report

G'Mornin' Irish; sorry I was a bit maudlin last night but Fathers day gets to me, think I will ignore it next year..:). Nice day shaping up so I think I will take advantage of it with Sir Muttly..He had a really bad reaction to a bite of some kind and I had to wash his belly 3/4 times a day and put itch cream on him, sometimes in the middle of the night. He knew I was trying to help him and he got really mushy for a bit.. He's making up for it now in spades, the little crank..LOL.. Love him to death, he's one of a kind..Have a great day...:).
Just Curious 6/16/2014 9:48:27 AM Report

Just a passing comment on some of the things that puzzle me in this world; Just saw a guy ride past my place on a bicycle, pedalling quite well thank you, but he had a pair of crutches on the back of it??? Things that make you go "hummmm.".:).
redranger 6/16/2014 10:10:54 AM Report

the crutches are for when he gets to the welfare office.
celeste5 6/16/2014 10:31:05 AM Report

Hi, I bought an old book at a second hand store by George William Curtis,
It`s called Lotus Eating, It`s A Summer Book.
Inside the book it says New York, June,1852.
It doesn`t say when it was published
though, just New york, Hurst And Company.
DutchTouch 6/16/2014 10:46:04 AM Report

JC maybe he could ride but had a sore foot.
Don't judge too quickly. There are many reasons and we don't know any of them.

PS.....I understand how much you love your best bud. Take good care of each other.

Love reading all your posts. Irishfey
you come up with some comical but true expressions.
mallet 6/16/2014 10:50:39 AM Report

Morning Folks...

A beautiful morning out here, blue skies, and quite warm.. Got to be something to the climate change people Saturday, cold as a witch's mamary gland, Sunday, blowing a gale and today, still life has nothing on it... And you, Irishfey, wants it to rain, what are you, sadistic??

Mabe take a ride to get some building supplies, but ONLY IF IT RAINS...
otherwise I shall make up some forms...

You all have a great day until that LADY does her rain and thunder dance...
DutchTouch 6/16/2014 10:53:22 AM Report

I'm glad the NDP got in to cover most of the north. I think if given half a chance they are what we need.

Other than that I'm sick of politics and politicians.
Just Curious 6/16/2014 11:04:26 AM Report

Dutch, wasn't judging at all, just thought it was comical. If he comes by again when I'm out I'm gonna ask him...:).

Redranger, that could well be, I have seen stranger..:).
irishfey 6/16/2014 11:09:23 AM Report

JUST CUROIUS.. That's ok,, that's why were here.. to listen and offer support and a kind word. It helps to vent and when others listen. Did you know that you can give a dog Benadryl ( sp?) for bites and the " itches?.. If its a small dog just give him a quarter of the pill... ( Vet approved ) and will work faster than the cream but I'm sure Sir Muttly liked the belly rub :).. Happy to see he is back to his old self like his owner ,lol... From now on just try and focus on the good things in life, there are some ya know ,don't ask me where but i just heard that there were About the guy on the bike with the crutches.. Don't be too quick to judge,, he might be going through therapy and needs the crutches when he gets off the bike... Sometimes is easier to peddal than walk too..... I had my laydown now i feel crapier than ever!.. Have to get my butt in the mood to get things done... I know what i did wrong,, I quit smoking but was tempted this morning and had a few with my coffe, now i feel sick and dizzy,, my bad!.. It shall pass..... Enjoy the day folks... Happy reading CELESTE.... And CELESTE... would you help me out with a poem?.. I started to write one about Shelter Dogs when a post came up here a few weeks ago about buying dogs from the Shelter and not from a breeder. I was about 3/4 into it that day then got stumped for the ending.. If i can find where i stashed it.. I will post what i have and you could fininsh the ending ok?... We could give it to the Shelter as a gift..... Later
irishfey 6/16/2014 11:11:38 AM Report

Red.. If Celeste do up our poem,, could you re write it for us and fix the mistakes, and there will be some, like in the " comas " etc. lol.. Will be a joint effort..ok?
irishfey 6/16/2014 11:26:26 AM Report

J.C.. Just a thought,, but try and save up a few $$ and then next year ( afew months before Fathers Day ) go buy yourself a few things that you would like and wrap them up fast,, don't play with them ,lol... and sign the gifts from Sir Muttly.... worked for me one year :)... Just a thought....
Just Curious 6/16/2014 11:31:16 AM Report

Irish, I don't let stuff get me down for long, too old for it.. Scruff takes a 1/2 a pill in the morning and 1/2 at night for his reaction. He weighs 30lbs and the Vet said it was OK for him. He's OK now.. Don't know if I told you I finally got seniors housing, moving the first of July. Took 3yrs but it finally kicked in. Be nice to be closer to everything, be able to walk where I have to go instead of bumming rides all the time. LCBO is the only thing that's a fair hike but I usually walk farther than that a couple of times a day. Gonna take a while to get used to living in an apartment building again and having neighbors close...LOL.:).
P.S. re the Vet, I have been with the same Vet for 30yrs off and on and They wouldn't help me with the mutt unless I brought him in for a $69 visit and I was too broke too. They wouldn't charge it until month end..Also they want $105 for a Rabies shot. The Vet in the east end is only $62 for it. That's where I'm going from now on..
redranger 6/16/2014 12:19:35 PM Report

Irish and Celeste
I would be honoured to vet your poem but will disavow any knowledge of either of you. :)
DutchTouch 6/16/2014 12:42:53 PM Report

I find that vet bills are out of this world. Isn't there a limit to what they can charge?

We've had cats and dogs for years and the bills just keep getting more ridiculous.

Not long ago we took our dog in for a few stitches to a cut on her foot.
After an X-ray, different shots, electrolite test, blood test and some expensive stuff "in case she got fleas", we were soaked $600.
That takes away a good portion of our pension.
Needless to say we took out the stitches ourselves.
We would love to have more animals but it's just too expensive. No wonder the animal shelter is so full.
Spaying and neutering are unbelievably expensive.
Charges for animal meds are a rip off too.
We should be allowed a discount for being a faithful customer.

Just Curious 6/16/2014 1:10:06 PM Report

In 7yrs I have over $2500 invested in my mutt.It do get expensive after a while..
mallet 6/16/2014 1:11:34 PM Report

Dutch Touch...

I agree, however there are no real alternatives to go when your pet is suffering.. When we had to have our dog put down it was a weekend, by the time she was wrapped up and back in the back of the car that was $600.oo it would have been cheaper if we had let her suffer for another two days, but the vet charge a $200 call out fee on top of the shot to put her to sleep. I do not begrudge much in this world, but they do like to pad their bills. I liked to vets over the river for that reason, until it was taken over and the owner is another one who wants to be a millionaire next month...
irishfey 6/16/2014 1:21:12 PM Report

Thank you Dutch Treat, As i enjoy yours. You can put matters across in a mature manner , same as Mallet , but I just usually put my foot in my mouth and then have a feed of humble pie ,lol.. I even hsd an offer that some would pay me to leave theses sites ( right Red :) ). but that just wants me to stay on all the more...... MALLET.. Me sadistic? Are you not the one that said... "" sticks and stones etc.?? but whips and chains excite you?? hee hee.. Birds of a feather ? lol,, Yes the Vet bills are high but we have no choice when it comes to our babies. I found out that there is no need to get a rabie shot every year, especially when my little guy is an inside dog.... RED .. Your loss when CELESTE hit the big time ,lol, but it would be nice if you would do that.... Well, i best get going and get something done here as i will be busy later getting out my " head dress and witchy things" for my rain dance tonight :).... Good luck in your new place J.C... where abouts are you moving to?? Would it be Chapple St.??.... Later folks...
irishfey 6/16/2014 1:26:22 PM Report

MALLET.. When Buddy had his surgery they wanted me to leave him over the night before????? I wonder what the cost would have been for that?? In any case i would never to that to my Pal, he would have thought i had deserted him!!.. NEVER!!!!....
Just Curious 6/16/2014 2:04:27 PM Report

Irish, here in town you have to get the rabies shot to get a tag every year. They don't like to do the multi-year shots on smaller dogs..And yes, it's Chapple..
DutchTouch 6/16/2014 2:12:26 PM Report

These days pets take over where the kids left off.
The kids are gone, living their own lives from a distance (in some cases) and the parents are left holding the bag.
We tend to put as much energy and costs into our beloved pets as we did our children.
Distance has given limited access to the kids but our pets are there to take up the slack.
Vets are aware of this and will milk it for all it's worth.
I have a grandniece who is a vet and I know that vets are well aware of the situation.
DutchTouch 6/16/2014 2:23:47 PM Report

OMG it's 20 degrees in the shade.
I think summer has arrived.
irishfey 6/16/2014 2:24:44 PM Report

Just Curous...YIPPEE ( Chapple St.).. You will be getting those cabbage rolls and Wine sooner than you think ,lol.. My Mom is at Chapple St... Will you be in the building out front or the one inbehind??.. No need to even tell me your name as some of the folks in there are a nosey sort and always know when a newcomer comes in... I will find you! I will bring treats for Sir Muttly too ,lol.. There area couple of fellas on the main floor ( first building ) that are nice guys and they sit outside and have a beer.. they will fill you in on who to stay clear of ,lol... Once we meet, you have to promise to keep my aka a secret though :) or no food for you!!... Made my day!!!!.... Later..... Forgot.. lots of dogs in that building, so Sruffs will have friends,, if he wants ,lol
bounder 6/16/2014 2:36:25 PM Report

mallet 6/16/2014 3:21:45 PM Report

Just Curious and Irishfey..

Just a thought... you put your pet in the trunk and go for a ride and I'll bet he/she gets out and licks your hand or face. Put your kid in the trunk and go for a ride, he/she gets out, calls you names, phone CAS and police and yells bloody murder... Now which would you prefer??? I know my answer, but then again I like animals, people small large or inbetween, ehh, not so much.. I always like that old saying a friend in need, is a pain in the butt"....

Any home made recipes for bug repellants.. some of us recent immigrants are not too hardened to the flies that bite and not just want a meal but seconds too???
bounder 6/16/2014 3:39:50 PM Report

I was putting a stern drive together and being busy moving the bugs left me alone but my chum was food for them,it was funny.I do not recall any home made recipes.

Mallett, brings to mind the joke about two mosquitos looking at a guy at a camp. One says "we gonna eat him here or take him home?" The other one says "Better eat him here..If we take him home the big ones will get him...":).

And Irish, I'm at the front building, 3rd floor overlooking the courtyard. It's all new, carpets, ceramic tiles, counters and vanity. Yes ,lots of mutts there. I used to live just around the corner from there for 7yrs and walked by there on a regular basis. I like it because of the big park and school yard for Sir Muttly to run in. He will remember the area when we get up there. Have already been warned about the "cougars" in the building...LOL.:).
irishfey 6/16/2014 4:26:41 PM Report

I heard that " Skin So Soft" from Avon was supposed to be good and it's excellent for the dogs and cats as it won't hurt them... I also seen some on my fb... one was either eating a lemon or putting the juice on yourself,,I'll check later on it... wearing dark clothes are supposed to help too???... Well i have my computer desk all cleaned off and my large desk ( downstairs in the spare room ).. Now it's time to sort out the " shelves" of my books,, all Bible ,lol... I gave sooo many away before but still have lots left. I have an excellent book called "Evidence that demands a verdict" by Josh McDowell and is great reading. It kinds throws a damper on the Atheist view of the Bible ( just my opinion ) and can get to be pretty deep in the reading of it. I have books of all Faiths and just use them to do a cross check to see how it lines up with the Bible.... Time to heave ho some more though, i just have too many.... I soon have to look for my " raindance items.. can't disappoint Mallet .lol
irishfey 6/16/2014 4:39:59 PM Report

JUST CURIOUS... I wasn't going to mention the " Cougars " that are there.. I didn't want to scare you off ,lol.. My Moms not one of them, she's 87 so don't worry ,:) She tends to keep to herself, say's that's the best way to be a good neighbour.... Best watch yourself when you get there,, ever hear of " fresh meat?" lol.. I might need the initial of your first name to find you if you're going to be on the 3rd. floor... They post the newcomers names downstairs on the board i think... Have time for that later.. looking forward to meeting you and Sir Muttly..... If that's ok with you.. of course it is, I'll be bringing food and Wine ,lol
bounder 6/16/2014 4:49:05 PM Report

The only cure for our bugs is to go South, I heard in Michigan they have no Blackflies as they shoot them all!Lol.

Irish, used to dance with a couple of them at the legion when I lived on the hill. I'm nuetured now so it don't matter anymore. Easy walk to the Legion from there so I can hang out on dance night. later on I'll give you my apt number after I get in there...My first name is Bill...Be glad to meet your Mom...:).
Just Curious 6/16/2014 5:43:44 PM Report

bounder, they are way bigger in Manitoba.. One landed at a municipal airport in Northern Manitoba and they refueled and put on 7 passengers before they realized their mistake.....LOL...

Time to shut the work down and make supper....Oops have to do a dance first ,lol... Best cover up that hole Mallet... Nice to meet you Bill,, my names Kate :)... Done here for tonight sooooooo Have a great night and enjoy the big " booms" we're supposed to get ( I hope )..... And... God bless.....
