I am happy happy happy today. I hope Harpers pasty faced face has a frown 'cause you are next to go little dictator. Bring it on 2015.

Thank you

Your welcome

Now off to work with a little more kick and wiggle.

Wynne should have been punished for her part in the attempted gas plant cover up ,no instead she received the a go ahead for that fiasco. Shame that voters condone that type of behaviour.
dadal 6/13/2014 6:09:46 AM Report

You guys crack me up.

Wynne already has aknowledged the gas plant was a bad, bad thing and plans on cleaning all of Daltons' messes up. And yes she had started before the NDP forced the vote. Ontario said " hmmm, well we will give you one more chance but if you screw up...".

Hudak could have won this. Easily. Instead he made the wrong move by saying job cuts. That freaked out more than the 10 thousand people he wanted to cut. Average family is 4 people, the 10 turned into 40. Add friends and relatives and that fear hit millions. His plan to create over a million jobs also could have worked but he never ever offered his plan to us. At best tha tcould have been temp welfare jobs which is only a temp solution. Slick statement of " if after 8 years I would step down". With the scandals in the Federal PC party, Ontario didn't want the risk. Plus harper getting involved crossed the line. Bad overall campaign for the PCs.

Howarth forced the election and was unprepared. You don't walk into the lions den then realize you forgot your gun! While she appeared sweet, she was also not the brightest. And our local Ross made a fool of herself wit the constant press releases. Our bear issue is the Liberals fault??? Really???

If PC had won I would have accepted it. After all, you can't change results. So sure you guys can whine and cry about the Liberals winning a Majority. You can't make it go away for 4 years unles you move out of Province. So now let's hope that Wynne will see the Soo kept David O in and FINALLY reward US instead of ignoring like Dalton did.

Harper must be rolling now the plagued Liberals have been elected to a majority, see we can do wrong and not be punished.

This morning a million and one people in Ontario woke up without a job.
Well Tim the million might be bullshit but the one is you and it is true.
Go back to your only other job - as a manager at Walmart.

A thank you to all those that ran in the election.

DP - Indeed.
Especially to Mr. Fremlin who was a refreshing voice and seems like a decent man.
And to Dr. Ross - who lost a second time but was a much more credible candidate this time. Time to step aside and lend her experience and intellect to helping future candidates.
To all of us who voted for David O - let's belly up to the trough and enjoy the spoils of victory.

Good and liberal mornings all.

This morning, millions in Ontario woke up to a new hope, they are happy and full of expectations, while a tiny, dingy, mingy dirt in the water will be clean very soon in Ottawa.

Not to worry and be happy, the cons have it Just in, and it's moving.

It requires a lot of courage and efforts to run for public office, but as shown, it could be easier when you chose the right platform.

Hi David P. hope you're listening.

Ta...ta...ta...ta.ta!

GRUMP, you got to be back here helping to comfort the wounded and clean the blood on the sidewalks.

Don't forget the vinegar and salt for the wounded.

I hope someone explains to her, that potholes, dogcatchers, garbage removal, etc. are functions of city council.

Once a person gets past the humour of such unawareness, you realize that everyone's vote is equal. I will give each of the posters on this site....most do seem to have a grasp of the basics of civics.

Congrats to Dave. To Rod and Celia, thank you for stepping into the ring and offering your service to us. Not an easy spot to put yourself in.

Well I guess you are right, more bellying up to the trough, however as one of the "richer" people I hope you do not have to go to far to get your vaseline in 45 gallon drums. We shall just have to wait and see how many of the promises are kept. You may be crowing now, but we shall wait and see how much you do n the future.. One thing I will give Mr Hudak is that having lost, he immediately resigned as leader of the Conservatives, I wonder if the other Lady will do the same??
notpc 6/13/2014 9:40:43 AM Report

Looking at the results of the election, it seems to have proven at least one thing. You can't tell Ontario voters the truth about what needs to be done with their economy. I've said it before and it bears repeating, that they are like people who have maxed out their credit cards and still think they ought to be able to buy a new car every three years and go on tropical vacations every year. I've had the dubious privilege of being asked to advise some of those people and doing it is like shoveling fog.

The irony is that Wynne will probably have to eventually impose the same type of austerity measures (job and spending cuts) that Hudak proposed. That's because if and when the credit rating agencies cut Ontario's debt ratings, the Ontario government will no longer be master of Ontario's destiny. Their ability to continue to spend will be dictated by the lenders, and if the lenders don't like what they see in the province, their conditions will be onerous.
Wisenheimer 6/13/2014 9:47:11 AM Report

When confronted with the awful truth, Ontario voters ran like scared school girls to Momma Wynne.
When her budget goes into effect in a couple of weeks, taxes go up, along with the deficit.
(Y'all knew that, I assume).
World wide structural change continues, U.S. interest rates climb, bond traders swoon, and Ontarians giggle as they whistle past the graveyard.
Stock pick of the day ... Suncor.
Niigaanis 6/13/2014 9:58:57 AM Report

I agree 100% that we will need to undergo radical changes and perhaps strict austerity measures but would rather do that with Wynne at the helm rather than the other alternative...just saying

Congrats to all for the courage to put their names forward.
mac headrick 6/13/2014 10:00:12 AM Report

notpc you correct about the Liberals will have to actually to do some of the things Hudak promoted.

What i find hilarious is PC's are upset about the Liberal win when their party did the following.

1. Instead of time for a change they made the economy the main issue.
2. The PC's then put forth a plan that even conservative economists stated didn't add up or make sense.
3. If the above wasn't enough the PC's decided to strike fear into the public sector and their families.

The PC's handed the election to the Liberals so why complain.

Mac...watching Hudak was like watching a train wreck. It could have been avoided but they kept on with perhaps the dumbest campaign in memory.
That 'million jobs' fantasy was just that. To their credit they packaged and polished him to look like a Premier-in-waiting.
Then he opened his mouth and screwed it up.
And if they pick Flaherty's widow as their next leader they'll never win.
Their best hope is Vic Fedeli. With him leading the way they could make a comeback.
Budster 6/13/2014 10:25:37 AM Report

As I see things working out is that even though cuts will eventually be made corporate welfare won't be adjusted because that is where they get their large donations from for their war chests. The ones to be really hurt are the Mom and Pop shops. Free enterprise will have gone the way of corporate enterprise. You will have to belong to a multi-national enterprise if you wish to be in business. Large business will crush competition which means not everyone could own a business and compete on a level playing field. If you have buckets full of money you can buy your way into a franchise. The idea of owning and running a family business will soon be gone. The aim of free enterprise is destroy competition. We are getting ever closer to that reality. What is the difference between State ownership or Corporate ownership?
soowat 6/13/2014 10:25:48 AM Report

I agree with your comment and Mac Headrick's

I was disgusted with the Liberals and ready to vote P.C. Then Hudak talked about bringing in right to work legislation followed by cutting 100,000 jobs and a 35% cut to corporate taxes. By the time voting day rolled around I was convinced that when Ted Cruz's parents were in Canada they had conceived and abandoned Ted's evil twin who was unwittingly adopted by the Hudak's

Global News is reporting the following about voter turnout. The figures are higher than predicted. This obviously had an impact on the results.

"Unofficial results say voter turnout for Ontario’s 2014 elections was 52.1 per cent. That is 3.9 percentage points higher than the 2011 elections, which brought out the lowest voter turnout Ontario had ever seen, with 48.2 per cent."

Have any of the posters on this site read the job opportunities for skilled immigrant workers posted on the fed. gov't's site. The gov't says that there are not ample Canadians w/the skills to fill the jobs and they will allow immigrants w/the skills to come to Canada more quickly, become citizens and fill the positions. I'm very suspect about the jobs listed. It would seem to me that there are quite a few Canadians who could fill the jobs. I wonder what all of you think about it.

BIG BROTHER 6/13/2014 1:33:43 PM Report

Cathy,
Many products can be produced offshore and imported into Canada without duties and tariffs, due to free trade.

Companies who cannot export their manufacturing or services offshore are jealous of those that can and are pressuring the governments to lower the bar for entry of immigrants to compete for Canadian jobs. Of course, they will work for less money, the company increases their profit margin and the rich get richer. The Canadians who are displaced are labelled lazy welfare 'bums'.

It's called a race for the bottom and Harper is leading the charge. The Temp. Worker Program is a prime example. No oversight of the program, until someone gets caught. Then they are all surprised that they were doing something wrong.

If Timmies can't find someone to work for minimum wage, then pay more. It's called supply and demand and is the basis for capitalist philosophy.

All Is Well 6/13/2014 1:40:34 PM Report

Sorry to burst the bubble Mac. Unions spent money to make sure Hudak didn't get elected. That is not the same as supporting someone else. The PC party let down their supporters when Hudak took over. Said no to everything, unwilling to work in a minority government, blocked committee work, and wanted an election the next day after Election day. Appears all that talk in the opposition seat was for his election ads. Locally, the big red machine did what they always do. Put in thousands of man/hours, drove thousands of kilometers, walked, knocked, and talked to thousands of residents to show what investment dollars mean to the Sault and that Liberals want to continue to move this city forward.

If you don't like the results work to change the next election because complaining is a waste of energy.

Why after a long day do I get to come home to more brown water??
Because the morons working on Queen St.E. in front of Algoma U broke the water main.
These construction/road workers were working in the same spot yesterday before my scenic tour around Algoma U.

Trying to get into Algoma U to vote yesterday was a trip for sure! Go in off Queen but can only get into the Native U part. Come out of there and down Shannon to Wellington to Hugill and the other side of Algoma U. only to find out after years of voting in the same building, that voting wasn't in the George Leach Centre but 2 buildings over in the new Science building!
I didn't even know it was built yet or that the Residence building was that big or there was another one too back there!

So I get back in the car and move it for a 3rd time, only to have to walk to the other side of the building to finally find an open entrance to get into the Science Building and they had loads of signs to show you to a room not 20 feet from the front door.

No sign at Shannon to enter the school from Hugill St. Notice on the voting cards still said voting in George Leach Centre... a young man in a parking vest told me to go to the other building which seemed to be his job for the day.
You had to be pretty determined to vote in this area yesterday to vote. I did see a few give up and drive away. Wonder who they were going to vote for??

And as a reward for supper tonight we get .... more brown water! And no PUC 15 minutes of running it didn't clear it, or 1/2 hour. Turned it off now.

How about that automated calling system to let us know something is up again with the water??
Are you going to replace my year old toilet that's all brown inside now??

And SooToday why can't we post on the story?? But have to post here about the brown water again?
Are you tired of our complaining as we are tired of the brown water??

I really have to wonder about who is running these things??
Javaman 6/13/2014 6:36:06 PM Report

A class action against the city and the PUC is the way to go. Residents have been very patient and keep getting fed a line from the PUC. Councillors are reluctant to do anything...it is an election year after all.

Shakespear---To be honest, the outcome of the election should not have come as a big surprise. It was analysed to death, and you had to read between the lines, but really, not a lot changed--the Liberals were already flirting with a majority.
That Spanish soccer match, now--I think that was a huge surprise.I tuned in because it is entertaining and there is a huge amount of skill and stamina involved. After that game, it looks like anything can happen. So don't be too down on the lads from Britain, maybe Italy will have a bad day.
