Morning Folks... WILD TURKEY.. Thanks for the post last night, it was helpful. They say that quitting smoking is one of the hardest addictions to overcome. Proud of you! Years ago i had a Dr. that would always bum a smoke from me and would smoke it in his office. Times have sure changed.... TWIST OF FATE.. Yes i see your point but todays kids have one thing missing that we of yesterday years had and that was usually a Mother that was home most of the time. Kids now are left to their own devices that are usually the violent games and movies that are not screened by the Parents as they have no time to be involved. ( Not all, but most ).. Sad situation!.... Have a great day all.....

There is an article in the local paper regarding the MTO no longer willing to pay for the second line extension through to black road. This will leave the city with a 1.5 million dollar shortfall. The MTO also stated it has NO PLANS to extend the bypass at the foot of second line east. This is happening in David O's home territory.
I think the city...for now...should cancel its plans to widen second line from Pine to Black roads. Is one block worth going into debt to the tune of 1,5 million? Surely traffic can "stand" a single lane for that short distance. We are not that big of a city.

We hear lots of reports of the bad things that concern children today, we did not have the same "toys" that they have today. We got kicked outside, unless there was an "air-raid on", but once the "all clear" had sounded out you went again. You learned to socialise beside doing so at school, not like today where a lot, not all, sit and play video games or movies to entertain themselves as not every family can afford the money to send them to sports. I am sure the same dangers existed in my childhood as exist today regarding pedofiles and the like, but gangs and drugs were not a great concern, although they existed but amoung adults. I feel sad for the kids of today, they look out on a world where manpower or women have started to become obsolete in industries that used to be the mainstay of employment..

A joke from the U K. of sorts... man works for large insurance company, hears his job is going to India, turns to colleague and says, Oh great I have always wanted to go to India, with the money they pay me I can live like a Maharaja over there, his colleague replies, yes you've also won a billion pounds and a trip to Mars with NASA...

Java, The so-called second line bypass is no longer a bypass. It has become a main artery through town. The province knows this, we know it, yet the city doesn't seem to quite acknowledge the fact. The planning of this city has been terrible, IMO. Personally, I can't stand travelling north of second line anymore.
irishfey 6/7/2014 11:41:13 AM Report

Mallet... Good joke ,lol... I agree with your post,, you word things much better than i can, thanks!.. Being a Grandparent, we can see where the Moms and Dads of today are making their mistakes, but won't listen,, even the kids think we don't know anything.... but did we listen to our parents??.. nooooo,lol,lol... Just that the world has changed from when we were kids, and is not a good change!!! Very afraid for some of the kids today!!!

BB...I agree and I avoid it if at all possible.

Big Brother...

"can't stand travelling north of second line", once you pass 4th line, Gods country begins, the folks are not in such a hurry (apart from a few drug mules) and once off the highway peace and quiet reins supreme. For us, south of 2nd line is like going into the heart of Hades, once we left town the blood pressure decreased and the brainfog cleared, but to each their own!!
irishfey 6/7/2014 2:36:40 PM Report

MALLET.. I know what you mean by going into " the heart of Hades" ( good term). After i leave the Sault i don't start to feel relaxed untill i pass Echo Bay, then it's all green pastures and trees from then on. Same as driving into town, my nerves get shot when i hit the City limits.......
Budster 6/7/2014 3:00:53 PM Report

When we moved to the 3rd. line in 2000 there was very little traffic here. Now we have daily transports and heavy industry trucks constantly; the increase in traffic was to be expected with the hospital but now there are almost as many heavy trucks using 3rd line as use the bi-pass.
Bone #2 is they brought the water lines from the highway as far as the animal hospital then into the new subdivision; then they brought water down Old Garden River Rd. as far as the 3rd line and stopped there. When do they plan on finishing the 1/4 mile stretch from the animal hospital to the bottom of the hill,on 3rd line, to link up with the rest of the water lines. Although I still prefere my well water to city water but why do we pay the same taxes as those with city services, then pay again when they get around to finishing the job. I guess being part of the planning board does not require intelligence. Ok my rant is over ... sorry you had to listen to it....LOL
steelworker 6/7/2014 3:27:57 PM Report

Budster: stick with your well. It is far better than that brown crud the P.U.C. pumps into your home. Also water rates are climbing every year (brown crud costs are up).

Getting a bit more than just ticked about the subliminal background imaging on the local news page on Sootoday. They have shrank the page down and added a lot of advertising over the years but this crap they have going on now sucks. Sometimes, like today, it's hard to read the page with the crappy ad on there....Enough, for Petes sake, if I want to go to the beer and bratywurst thing I already know about it...:(.

The White House is spreading fear mongering over climate change...

It was the White House that led the anti Kyoto Accord nonsense.

Who really runs the US?
Why the flip flop?

Votes from suckers.
mallet 6/7/2014 5:51:16 PM Report

All you can do is ask, ask the planning people, ask the tax dept, ask the local councilor and then the mayor... The reason you see more trucks is simple less traffic lights and less traffic to drive round... I actually saw an Opp vehicle coming out of Haviland Shores Drive near the Marina the other day, was going to stop and ask if he was lost, but he was travelling quite a speed, guess they got scared in the boonies...First one I have seen for about 18 months, they only venture in, in force!!

Now for climate change, wow did the temperature ever drop when the clouds came in and the wind got up, I can hear the surf now, guess the lake is still in Vienna Boys Choir mode!!!

J.C... ahhh, now i see what you mean. I can hardly see the print myself,, thought i need my glasses cleaned ,lol
