Returned from a medical appointment in Sudbury yesterday. I hit a pothole in friendly downtown Sudbury that blew my front tire. That was $200.00 I didn't plan to contribute to the Sudbury economy. What was particularly irritating was the set of tires was less than a week old.

On the way back, at Laird, we saw an eighteen wheeler in the ditch on its side surrounded by the usual compliment of emergency vehicles. Hope no one was hurt.

I lived in Sudbury for about 7 months a few years ago.. When I moved there my truck didn't have a squeak in it, when I left you couldn't hardly hear the radio over the noise it made. I think some of their potholes are old, abandoned mine shafts that have caved in.. I'll take our streets here any day.:).
bounder 5/27/2014 7:33:25 AM Report

I've got a culvert that needed replacement in front of my home, the signs for bumps are up, only certain drivers slow down others oblivious to the warning, point is slow down and you won't have problems with suspension on the machine. By the way the ones that don't slow down you can hear them coming by the rattles in the distance,I lived with potholes here for 14 years and never had any problems.Just saying.
irishfey 5/27/2014 8:34:44 AM Report

Morning Friends... Soowat.. I hope all went well with you in Sudbury with the exception of the pot hole. A few years back we knew of an older couple that hit a pothole and the Wife was injured a wee bit. They sued the city and won a few bucks.. Maby Sudbury owes you a new tire?? Don't know how that works though. On our way back from Echo Bay yesterday we seen the Transport on it's side, no Police there yet but other transports and trucks there to help. I don't think anyone was injured as the truck was just on it's side and not toppled right over. Hope not anyway. Hubby figgured the guy must have fell asleep. Anyone see STEELWORKERS first post on the Wynne story in the news section?... As the saying goes... He owes me a new keyboard ,lol... Another nice day today,, go enjoy...later...
irishfey 5/27/2014 8:47:56 AM Report

J.C and bounder.. For the past couple of months there have been signs to slow down, bump ahead ( no pothole just the frost heaved the road ), on the hwy by our house. Not too many slowed down and in the night when the transports went by it felt like thunder in the house, and some pictures went crooked on the walls. Folks from two blocks away could hear it too. Folks just don't pay heed anymore, always rushing to go nowhere. I love it when we are on the hwy. and some joker speeds past us. We usually see them ten minutes up the hwy. pulled over by the Police. ,lol.....

J.C.. The post is still there ????

Morning All..

Looks like another great day shaping up, how soon we forgot the snow and cold..

I can appreciate your annoyance at the City of Sudbury, however they do have a claims section for damage to vehicles, you would need to tell them exactly where the pothole you hit was and what the traffic situation was at the time and a copy of both the bills. I worked in Sudbury for 10 years and had this happen twice... But we have the same problem here too, this last winter was very hard on the roads... Not excusing them though..

At last I can say the trees have decided they would admit to nicer weather and are going red and green, the maple and birch, that is..

The seeds we put in the pallet troughs are starting to come up, and we shall be putting some more in during the week so they get spread out and not all come on together.. great idea my wife says as i put legs on the pallet and it is about 3ft off the ground... have to remember to water it though...

Well enjoy the day.....and don't forget the sunblock...
Just Curious 5/27/2014 11:25:06 AM Report

I humbly apologize, Irish, I was on the wrong page..My bad...:).
soowat 5/27/2014 1:07:59 PM Report

Good point about slowing down to avoid damage when confronting a pothole I would never thought of that.

Perhaps I should have clarified that in my Sudbury experience,I was going down the Kingsway, keeping pace with the traffic flow, with vehicles to the front, back and sides. When I saw the pothole,my choices were to slow down suddenly and probably get rear-ended,veer suddenly into the right lane and develop a love affair with the car beside me , veer into the on coming lane and
find out if the Dodge Charger coming at me was better built than my Ford Fusion or grin bear it,say some words that you don't hear in church and pay the tire shop folks
irishfey 5/27/2014 1:19:08 PM Report

J.C.. the post is gone now, but was left up long enough to let the folks see it. I just about choked when i read it though,, that's our Steels for ya ,lol..... Mallet, glad the pallets are working for you. We havn't got all our veggies in quite yet, but working on it.... Going up to the Hospital this afternoon to see an old friend that isn't doing too great, I think his time is short. He's only 65 and it pains me to see a life cut short like that.. Damn cancer!!!! All prayers would be accepted by the family please.......
bounder 5/27/2014 2:52:02 PM Report

or file a claim with the city and get your out of expense money back or slow down and not keep pace as every driver in Sudbury is late for something.

Evening All..

Yes, Celeste, it was a nice day for working out doors, however out here that wind was a little on the cool side, when you stopped. Got one project pretty well beat now, then just 3 more for the rest of the summer, and fall, should be ablle to finish them all, providing the sky don't fall...

Hockey, Bounder, the fastest game but watched the slowest, give me soccer anytime, the final of all games is "The One" not good enough that day, you lose, hockey, oh well we will win when we are at home and we'll lose away until the seventh game and then we'll give it!! Money Money Money.... I think I would rather watch the shopping channel..
celeste5 5/27/2014 8:44:49 PM Report

I`m watching, Just for laughs,

joewho999 5/27/2014 9:36:10 PM Report

When you approach a pothole apply the breaks, but release the peddle while going over the hole.60 to 70 % of the weight is up front, this saves the suspension and tires.
celeste5 5/27/2014 9:36:39 PM Report

You must be upset,
