Good day all, thunder storms all day long, I will have the smoker going for some whitefish, then head to. Harmony for some smelts later. blackflies and mosquitoes are poised and ready to strike. Get the. Yard work done before it gets warmer.

What a dreary day! But at least hubby and Buddy and Felix and I are cozy and warm inside.

Good morning everyone.

Bounder

I rode my bike to RJ`s Market yesterday,
I was just flying down St Georges Hill.
I don`t know how fast I was going,
I lost my speedometer.
Do the police give tickets to speeders on bikes.

Irishfey

I`m glad everything went well,
Is your husband having cravens for a smoke?

bounder 5/13/2014 8:15:31 AM Report

Celest5 I believe you're subject to the same rules as all vehicles, so if you break the speed limit, you might get a ticket, unless you sweet talk them out of it,lol.

Good morning. I missed any responses to my comments on May 7th been flat on my back with a flu from hell. I'm able to get out of bed to check on here today.

It was about an old lady who I found out is not in her eighties but is actually 93.
I'm quite concerned for her being blind and deaf and no family here. She told me she has been shut in for five years in that apt. Hasn't seen a doctor for years. She says the workers just come in, make her a quick instant breakfast, etc, do what has to be done and gone. She's so lonely. Her special telephone she says doesn't work, just loud buzzing noise, she can't seem to call out and no one to help her get it working. She said she tried to call the police when she noticed her money was missing several times. That's a big worry right there. This building lets visitors in by a code and telephone to the apt to buzz them in, she needs a functioning telephone. Why haven't the workers tried to help her with this?

She's begging for someone to talk with. I thank God I stopped in to inquire about her unused patio set on her balcony I can see from my balcony just across from hers.I had never ever seen anyone out there since I moved in last year and wondered if the owner wanted to sell it.

As soon as I'm over this flu I intend to go see her and see if there's anything she'd like me to help her with. But I wrote about on here because I wondered if anyone had any helpful advice for me. I hesitate to interfere yet I really care about people and can't just turn my back and act like it's none of my business. I wouldn't just walk past someone in need on the side of the street even if it meant getting involved.

I realize there is a way to go about this. I don't want to be accused of anything by entering her apartment after what she told me about her concerns about her PSW's stealing her money from her purse and other.

Ellio Doe: I was touched about your post last Thursday about the elderly lady in your building. In fact, I haven't been able to get it out of my mind, and I'd like to help if possible. This was the second Mother's Day without my mom. As a family we did gather for Mother's Day brunch with my mother-in-law. She is also widowed but is in a retirement home where she has good care. When her eyesight got bad we got her some large print books, then "talking books" and also had to get her a phone with very large numbers and one button calling.

I live out near Mallet. We're sort of neighbours but out here on Lake Superior neighbours can be miles apart. I do get into town once or twice a week.

If you'd like to talk further about this, send me an e-mail at:

Ellio Doe. How strange is this. I'm posting to you about this elderly lady while you're writing about her and we post three minutes apart. Coincidence? I think that somebody's trying to help us here.

Wet Morning Folks..

Wow, am I glad this is rain and not that white stuff, I see my parking area is awash with water from this little rain storm. Still have some ice floating around close to shore this AM, but the breeze and currents seem to be taking it out and away at last...

I can get some things ready, but not much I can do outside in this sort of weather. I suppose I could help the wife with some housework, but that's no fun..

Going to rather a slow day I can see, but you all make the most of it out there...
Ellio Doe 5/13/2014 10:21:30 AM Report

Ok I just want to thank you all for all your very very good help with this problem. I did find the Archives link,(I'm not too savvy on computers lol)but I went and read all the comments. It's so heartwarming to know people still care and will speak out. I will call Comm.Care Access. But first I'll ask her if she wants me to or to get in touch with her niece first. Not fare to take matters into my own hands, she's old, not senile, and certainly not stupid; she's blind and partially deaf and can't get contact with the outside, is all. I'll let her guide me to do what she wants. I'll keep you all informed of any progress. And the lady from out of town who gave me her email address, I will contact you. Speaking of angels, reminds me of that beautiful song by Sarah McLachlan "In the Arms of the Angels" I thank you again. Have a wonderful happy day!
bounder 5/13/2014 11:44:06 AM Report

Ah Irish you caught me , I agree with you, but I was reminded going out of a store and my wife was carrying a broom and I said to her, planning a trip? lol.

T Rat..

Being neighborly... May I ask who is running for the Legislature in this area... I have seen no signs up or heard of any candidates..

God Bless Bob Marley
T-rat 5/13/2014 4:43:57 PM Report

Hi Mallet. I'm assuming that Mantha is running again. Haven't heard of anybody else. For such a crucial election there surely doesn't seem to be too much interest.

With today's winds I had expected to see a lot more ice in Horseshoe Bay but perhaps those heavy rains melted most of it........hopefully!! (or it moseyed over your way).
bounder 5/13/2014 4:47:51 PM Report

T Rat same here in Bluewater Bay some small icebergs and the Humming birds arrived here today.
T-rat 5/13/2014 5:16:26 PM Report

Hummers already? I was thinking yesterday that I should fill the feeders and hang them up but thought that it might be too soon, still too cold. If I was them I'd still be Mexico!!

I'll hang 'em up tomorrow.

Cheers,

I missed a word, to.
mallet 5/13/2014 6:30:17 PM Report

T Rat..

Some floated by, but there is just a few little bits bobbing about on the shore. Seeing what it was like a week or so ago, it has gone pretty quick.

I was forgetting Mantha.. After being elected I guess he wasn't too interested in this part of the world, as I have not seen too much of him over here, or maybe I just missed his "clinics" that Brown used to hold about every three months or so...

Oh well, we get what we deserve I suppose...
Pink Peony 5/13/2014 6:52:43 PM Report

Hi :) Good day to pop in!! Bob Marley mentioned and hummingbirds and guitar. I have my hummingbird feeder on the counter waiting to be filled. Better get that done! Last year, I noticed what I thought was a hummingbird checking all the flowers on one of my hanging plants. The flowers were a blueish purple colour and I thought it strange for a hummingbird to be checking it out. It was not the usual looking hummingbird either. Anyway, I did some googling and found out that it was a moth, a hummingbird moth!

Celeste, my son plays guitar too. I can't remember when he started to take lessons at the conservatory. I think around 12 years old but I really can't remember at the moment :(

BTW, mama robin laid an egg a day, from Tuesday to Friday last week, four eggs total. They should hatch next week. It's neat to watch the parents work together. Mama lets papa know she needs to leave the nest for a bit. He shows up, she leaves and he sits and guards the nest. It's great having a bird's eye view!

Pink Peony

Every year my husband would hang the,
hummimg bird feeder right in the center of the window,
and our cat would fly though the air,
trying to get at the birds,
and scratch me up,
I was always sitting in the right spot.
Anyway she died and the next year,
my husband was gettig the feeder ready,
I`m like, don`t hang them there,
that darn cat will be scratching me up again,
He`s like, we don`t have a cat, LOL.
