Good morning to everyone in the red room. Having a cup of tea in the night. Will definitely need a nap later on!

Hey Mallet, how high is the water now?

If we stay watching the rain, better stick some rubber to those snow shoes... and walk like a duck.

That if you do not have the benefits of pavement, sidewalks and your taxes are put to work cleaning it everyday.

Good soccer... Hooly gan!

La...la...la..la....
Bobby Nerves 5/3/2014 7:33:29 AM Report

Hey Mallet, here is a good ornithological oriented one:

Researchers for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority found over 200 dead crows near greater Boston recently, and there was concern that they may have died from Avian Flu. A Bird Pathologist examined the remains of all the crows, and, to everyone's relief, confirmed the problem was definitely NOT Avian Flu. The cause of death appeared to be vehicular impacts.

However, during the detailed analysis it was noted that varying colors of paints appeared on the bird's beaks and claws. By analyzing these paint residues it was determined that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with trucks, while only 2% were killed by an impact with a car.

MTA then hired an Ornithological Behaviorist to determine if there was a cause for the disproportionate percentages of truck kills versus car kills.

The Ornithological Behaviorist very quickly concluded the cause: when crows eat road kill, they always have a look-out crow in a nearby tree to warn of impending danger.

The scientific conclusion was that while all the lookout crows could say "Cah", none could say "Truck."

Morning Folks...

Well, what can I say, the sun is out here, and nearly double digets, I trust it is raining in town, hopefully!!! I think Bobby has his own little rain and snow cloud!!

Lots of soccer on today and tomorrow but the forecasters say it is going to rain so that's my excuse to the trouble and strife... My home town team does not play until tomorrow, they are going to lose so no real reason to watch them, but at least they should win a few more games in the Championship league as they look likely/certainly to be relegated from the Premier league..

You all get out there and enjoy the sunshine.. except Bobby, it can rain on him as forecast....

Irishfey, I don't usually post but yesterday's conversation really hit me!

Farmer Spelly, can't fix a darn thing so rarely do the tools come in but how would you like to have about 30 tomato plants in your dining room, a bag of soil, watering can, growlights 3 tiers high and a huge pail with a tomato plant that already has 3 tomatoes???

Then you enter the living room where he insists all his buckets must stay. They contain coffee grounds, drying eggshells, crushed eggshells and some concoction that is a secret fertilizer recipe!!

Next, out comes the 2 horsepower motor vitamix machine to crush the eggshells. Being male, he never manages to see the ones that land on the kitchen floor. The peat pellets, seed box, plastic cups for starting plants and the spray bottle must "live" on the coffee table.
Please cross your fingers and toes that the garden warms up soon!

Mrs. Spelly

Morning Friends... MRS SPELLY, lol,lol... ok, i get the point! I promise to never complain about a few screws and tools again ,lol.. My Hubby is a gardner also and we have from time to time ,started seedlings in the house, but not to that extreme!... What can i say, except.. enjoy the tomatoes. :) :)...( Don"t get any ideas Mallet ,lol ).... Enjoy the day folks....
irishfey 5/3/2014 11:26:55 AM Report

Mrs Spelly.. I just reread your post... 30 plants????... I have everything crossed for you dear,, even my eyes ,lol
celeste5 5/3/2014 11:44:52 AM Report

Good morning everyone.

Mallet

The Sun is not shinning here yet,
And I want to see that celestial sphere,
If you think I`m tired of the grey skies, you bet,
And Mother Nature, could you please stay clear.
irishfey 5/3/2014 12:38:37 PM Report

I can"t stop laughing at Mrs. Spellys post.. poor dear!.. Pray for the sunshine please.....Oh Spellchecker,, what to do with you?? lol......
mallet 5/3/2014 1:12:30 PM Report

Irishfey..

Actually I am starting some seeds off this weekend, I have a plastic covered coffee table that the wife has her flowers on over the winter the ones which she likes, I forget or can't spell the names of them. What I do to start off some seeds is the plastic containers from strawberries and miniture swiss rolls, or if I am doing shrubs I use a small plastic bucket and a transparent garbage bag, generally works for me... and does not leave a mess on the table or floor then out to the greenhouse when it is warmer...
Wicket 5/3/2014 1:37:31 PM Report

Ha, ha, cannot stop laughing at Mrs. Spelly's post, since I have been in the house, I can picture exactly what she has described.
I, for the first time in many years, am going to start some seeds indoors as well, but not to that extreme. We have a nice south facing bay window in the dining room and that is where my plants will go. They will be out of any traffic area and should not bother anyone (I hope).

Still chuckling...
shakespeare 5/3/2014 2:03:23 PM Report

mallet, my friend. It should be an interesting game tomorrow, a must win for Norwich and Chelsea, although it may be too late for Norwich. I'm in two minds as, much as I would love for you to invite me out to enjoy our two teams meeting (I don't have that channel) and plying me with kegs of beer and expensive snacks, my best friends in the U.K. are Sunderland supporters!
mallet 5/3/2014 2:34:12 PM Report

Shakespeare..

I am afraid we shall not be a meeting of teams next season, after Sunderlands win today I fear that the points required by Norwich are not there. The last games that City play are Chelsea and Arsenal on the last day, not much hope of 6 points there..However I shall support my other favourite team Man U next season, so you are welcome to come and see your team play them if it is TV'ed, where I shall ply you with Rum and Pep and have my favourite OPP sitting just down the road when you leave, just make sure you bring your birth control pills with you!!!
irishfey 5/3/2014 3:13:34 PM Report

Well, i guess i had better get the seeds going too. With the crapy weather i havn"t been giving it much thought but before we know it, summer will be here and i don"t want to be caught off guard with no plants to put in. I"m doing the Kale and Swiss chard etc. and going to put those ones in the pallets i was talking about. Hubby is going to till up a place for the rest. Most of the trees in the backyard are still bare so i really don"t know yet where the sun will be coming through. I wish that more folks would do a garden, the price of food has gone up so much, it would be wise of them to put one in.... We used to have chickens with the coup and all and they would free run too, but i can"t do that here now. I know that you can keep a chicken in a cage ( hide them in the garage ,lol ), but i feel it would be cruel to do that to them and Hubby has already nixed that idea in " his " garage ,lol.. I guess i could tell him,, it"s going to be either his tools in there or the chickens , hee hee.... Later....

Your`re funny,
Well the Sun finally came out.

Celeste...

Went back in and now it's wet again...As the olde english saying goes ... rain stopped play... that's it for today... tomorrow is another day I have not touched yet...
irishfey 5/3/2014 8:32:03 PM Report

From what i see on the weather, the only sun days are Mon. and Tues... Better than the snow though! I do believe that God is still in control of the weather ( the only thing that greedy Men can"t control ), so to those of you that believe in God we can pray for more sunshine. There must be a reason for all the rain, but it"s not for us to know. God does answer prayers and i could tell you lots of what HE has done for me... Just a quickie... One day while driving home from the Soo, i heard a loud noise from under the car and knew it was the muffler. I prayed for God to keep it on till i got home. The minute i pulled into the driveway, the muffler fell off!!.... I had a pretty good day today, did a little work inbetween reading another good book.... I think that Mrs. spelly made the day in here, she should pop in more often.... Have a great night folks and ... God bless....
