Good morning Mallet:
Well, your wishes were granted.
You'd asked for summer and I give you an advance of it, I cranked the Air Conditioner, and next month I'll give you the the hot summer.
I hope you enjoy your Air Conditioner.
I'm laughing because we, The Pigs, do not sweat.
Oh, if you have any influence, please make a petition for human to stop slaughtering us and make sausages, you wouldn't believe where we go in the afterlife.
And something else that may be of your interest. The valves of our heart are a perfect match for humans.
And also our guts.
You wouldn't believe how many humans walk around with pig guts.

Good sunny morning to Tea Granny and Bobby.
It's a winter wonderland out there right now. Get your cameras so you can take a pic of what winter looks like in case you forget this summer.
Then when you're sick of the heat and humidity you can always look at the photo and wish you were there. LOL
For mallet.....from where I sit I can see two freighters seemingly stuck in the ice waiting for the icebreaker to come through. Yep spring is here!
bounder 4/5/2014 9:04:47 AM Report
Good morning all,
Dutch from what I heard they are going to be a while longer. The ice breakers where 40 km short of Michipicoten Island. That was last week.
Bobby Nerves 4/5/2014 9:25:15 AM Report
As the weather goes, you may as well push the Michipicoten Island towards the icebreakers.
We sure, will have a better chance of success.
LOL LOL LOL
Mallet, the groundhog left a message for you and the last time I'd seen him, the rodent was perusing Vacations To Go for a discount fare.
That happens when you trust a rat.
DutchTouch 4/5/2014 9:48:48 AM Report
Bounder.....there was an icebreaker working near Lime Island last night.
mallet 4/5/2014 10:22:47 AM Report
And tis a fine morning to ya'all...
Just finished move some of the solid rain we had yesterday, the rest can melt when it wants.
Dutch... I have plenty of photos of winter, thank you, if I did not see another one for a few years it would not bother me at all...
Bounder... I see they are bringing in a breaker that normally works in the Artic, it may have a little trouble in some of those "windrows" where the ice bunched up.. From when I did rafting up at the Pic to Marathon the booms were 18 to 20 ft deep at the back end..
The only good thing I can say is that the ground did not freeze under the covering of snow, so at least it should not flood too much...
You all have a good day out there and enjoy the weekend..

I think Spring has taken the European vacation package... from what my relatives in the UK tell me they are in the middle to upper teens all the time now....

Good morning all, beautiful sunny morning.
Am reposting my post from last night in case it wasn't read by those it was addressed to:
Two Mallet, Irishfey and Just Curious - was thinking of all of you when I read the story in the news feed about Bishop's dog who went through the ice on the St Mary's river and the rescue that occurred. If you haven't read the story, please do, a feel good story instead of all the crap that usually happens in the newsfreighters from Duluth went through the locks yesterday around noon.

Yes I read the article regarding the Bishops dog, and I am glad the pooch is safe and none the worse for his swim. However it should stand as a lesson to people not to let their pets roam off the leash, unless in a safe area to do so. It should also serve as a reminder to all that the ice this time of the year is becoming unsafe to venture onto...

Wicket.. Thank you for pointing out that story.. It bought tears to my eyes!! Yes, it sure was a miracle and God bless the Firemen!.. Oh to think what that couple went through. to see their beloved "Bud" almost go to his demise in front of their eyes!.. Would have been heartbreaking!!!.. Am still getting shivers! To most pet owners, dogs ( cats) are family... I think that those folks and Bud had an Angel that day!.. I am going to send the Firemen a thank you card also,, true Heros !!!

I was reading how many virtues people attribute to Pigs.
From the Chinese Zodiac prospective, The Pig has the following attributes:
Pigs are honest and frank, chivalrous and gallant. They have a calm appearance and strong heart. They do whatever they want with their strength. They are tolerant and optimistic, but not until they become your friends can their virtue, advantages and fidelity to friendship be appreciated. They are quick tempered, but hate arguments and quarreling. They are kind to their loved ones. They are not afraid of difficulties and problems but try to work them out. They treat friend sincerely and they do not tell lies unless they have to. They are kind and light hearted and usually go to sleep easily.
and Weaknesses (Because it got to be weaknesses, not all is rosier in a Pig World)
They are trusting and sometimes naive, so they may easily fall in traps. Although they are loyal to friends, they do not have many friends. They are hot-tempered and impulsive. They are not good at communicating with others. If they play pranks on people, they will not know when to stop.
And now you are a better informed person.
Think about The Pig when you eat bacon, ham and sausage.

One of the best surprises was going to town around 8:00 am and there on the side of the road, a pot bellied pig, whoa stop the truck back up and take another look.
I thought for sure that maybe I'd seen something else, but no the pig,in the middle of winter.
I don't know about you guys, but on second look I was thinking Ham.
Found out later that the pigs name was Penny.

It's the closest match for humans. In the beginning, before Barnard started with the heart transplant, many persons got a pig heart.
A consequence of tobacco consumption runs down to plaque in the femoral or occlusion femoral, nowadays graft is the solution, but in the beginning the bypass was completed with pig and sheep artery just because the human body tend to accept the pig artery with even less morbidity and mortality risk than when other procedures are used.
All boils down to what our body will take as a part of it. The Japanese are working in growing organs in the labs, but they are not capable to overcame the draws back, yet.

Read how interesting is the Pig life, the Chinese with their millenarian knowledge, tell about Mr. Pig:
Horoscope and Numerology Elements
Earthly Branch of Birth Year: hai
Wu Xing (The Five Elements): shui (water)
Yin Yang: yin
Auspicious Directions: southeast, northeast
Lucky Colors: yellow, grey, brown, golden;
Avoid: red, blue, green
Lucky Numbers: 2, 5, 8;
Avoid 3, 1, 9

You see, I can get along well with the sheep and the rabbit, but I have to avoid another pig, and forget about snakes and monkeys. Very bad animals in Mr. Pig Kingdom!
You monkeys, pigs, and snakes stay away from Mr. Pig. Please and thank you.

I love Oinkers. A nice ham sandwich, a porketta, chops and of course spare ribs, so many delicious things about pigs.. Unless of course if you have a farm and have to feed them, then things can get a little unpleasant. There are old saying about pigs "a silk purse out of a sows ear" and of course "the manners of a pig". Having that as a chore when a kid, I can assure your that a 200/300lbs porker is not something to pet or play with, especially where food is concerned..
Bobby Nerves 4/5/2014 2:27:24 PM Report
Well, you're very materialistic.
All the sudden instead of thinking with the brain you're writing with your belly and eyes.
Don't you feel a bit of compassion for Mr. Pig, even a 300, 400 pounder?
I'm gaining weight as they just left me in this box full of corn and the computer.
How's the outdoors clean up going?

Not in the slightess, I relish a good bacon and egg brekkers and a bacon, cheese burger and a lasanga with bacon stips.. Oh yes also the fried bacon rhine... Yea, Yeah I know these things are not good for you, or so they say, but you know, doctors, dietians, don't live for ever either!!!
There is this priest, doing a summon on alcohol, He has in front of him a glass of water and a glass of whiskey. From a jar he pulls a worm and drops it in the glass of water, it wiggles around and eventually he pulls it out of the water, it is still alive. He gets another worm out of the jar and drops it in the glass of whiskey, wiggles for a few minutes and then dies. The minister then asks "what does this mean to you"... a voice from the back shouts out, "If you've got worms, drink whiskey"...
