No violence, no threats, and business as usual.

Good morning bounder, I think the Royal Bank did a bit more than Scotia.

You said that the public is ripped, but for your own messages, I understand you're older than 65, therefore Scotia will not charge you a cent for your chequing account.

If you pay contributions it's only because you earn far more than what you need and therefore your income should be trimmed in order to remind you that there are people hanging from the slippery side of advantage.

I'm privileged in many ways and I feel grateful to contribute helping the disadvantaged in any way possible.

I see you answered with your typical trollisms.... but I will 'splain it to youse anyways.

Lepine was a nut case who hated women, bought an assault rifle legally, wrote a suicide note, hunted down and murdered 14 women, shot 12 others, then blew his own brains out.

..... but he wasn't Muslim, as you stated.

Et je comprends tres bien La Charte de la laïcité, merci. Si tu veux parler avec une air du superiorite des les affairs de Quebec, fais certain de lire des articles Quebecois et pas des idees manipuler par la media anglophone.

Anyways, Stephen Harper says it won't pass and if it does he will 'handle it'.

Speaking of Rotisserie chicken, one of the more popular chains in Quebec specializes in rotisserie chicken...

The chain is called Ti-Coq. 'Ti' being slang for 'petit' 'Coq' being slang for a male chicken and sounds like it looks.

....I made the connection and immediately thought of Wisen....

bounder 3/4/2014 8:02:12 AM Report

another popular one from Quebec would be TI-Cu.
My brother use to call me that all the time.

Good morning everyone, it does feel warmer. David I'll go get my shorts and T shirt on right away. Hunter not to start a war but you said the RCMP did this without the knowledge of the Cons., Liberals and NDP. I guess it begs the question" You would know this how"? I think Politicians maybe tell the odd fib. Mallet your point last evening was taken but in my mind Harper would have absolutely no problem ripping the RCMP a new one if his own nose was clean.

The new young driver is more interested in "social interaction" than actually driving. This often causes other interactions, that puts them in the ditch and worse.

I see there was another day of complaints (again) about the wording some folks use when posting on this site.
I truly believe statusquo has it pegged when he calls this site a form of "mental masturbation" cause that is what it really is.
Some of you really have to lighten up and chill out.
I have a possible solution.
Why don't all those that want to be on the good clean ship lolly pop simply flock off over to the Red Room.
They discuss topics and are always nice and polite.
That would leave only the crass name calling ignorant folks on know the ones that so many of you seem to love hanging around reading.
Seriously, do it and lets see how much the posting increases in the Red Room and decreases in the View Room.
Bet none of you do.
Just Curious 3/4/2014 9:40:09 AM Report

rw, sorry if some of us get a bit tired of the same old drivel day after day on here. The constant leftie-rightie thing does get a bit tiresome and even Grump had the decency to apologise for the misuse of a word yesterday. As it says at the top of the page, which some of the posters on have clearly never read, keep it civil and on topic..I think they need a new moderator, personally, one that actually scans the page and not just when someone complains. That might make a world of difference...:)

They do have a moderator and always have.
Go back into the archives on this site as far as you like.
Some of the monikers have changed but the basic format has always remained the same.
Look at the topics that get discussed on this site and then tell me again about keeping the lid on a boiling pot.
We all have a different view on these sometimes sensitive issues and I do not take any of the so called insults personal and I get more than my fair share.
As Grump stated many of the folks that post here know his identity.
The same goes for me.
I occasionally bump into Statusquo in the grocery store do you think that he runs up shaking his fist in my face for the goofy stuff that takes place on here.
Well he did throw a cumquat at me once but he was shopping with his Grandma and she slapped him for it.....
He, like I, knows exactly what the bantering is all about that takes place on this site...
Sorry if some of you don't.

rw, I've been on here a long time too and have seen a lot of monikers come and go. I used to know the fellow who was the monitor on here for a long time back when Dave was running the ship and a lot of the crap that goes on here anymore would have been pulled. I've been pulled a couple of times too but have learned to behave now..You say a lot of this stuff is just back and forth banter between those that know each other but a lot of it isn't and it does get a bit out of hand. I enjoy humour myself but not when it gets to the name calling and insults that goes on in here,Status'"mental masterbating" aside. As per yesterday, it seems like only native issues get pulled in here anymore. Anyway, carry on , as I know you will. :)

Hunter101 3/4/2014 12:26:04 PM Report

Grump, I know because in order for the RCMP to ban a rifle or family of rifles, new law has to be legislated by parliament. For the RCMP to say that all Classic Green rifles and CZ 858's are banned is an abuse of power and they aren't within their authority.

Come on Grump, use your head. Do you think the Firearms act was just inferred? Noooo, the Libs conjured that one up. Quite the piece of legislature. They should pride themselves in coming up with one of the biggest wastes of time, paper and ink ever in Canada. The Conservatives had to do the same to get the LGR out. The RCMP acted without prior legislature and under grey areas of the Firearms Act, which under close scrutiny don't check out.

He's the one who will be addressing these concerns, as this is why he was appointed.

Interesting story today about Trinity Western University's (TWU) efforts to create a Law Faculty. It is a Christian university that asks its students to sign a form indicating they will behave in a way that adheres to Christian principles, including abstaining from sex outside of marriage.

Those opposed to TRU's plans have zeroed in on the one politically correct issue connected to this, namely, the fact that same-sex sexual behaviour would not be allowed. It's suggested by people like Clayton Ruby that lawyers who might graduate from such a program will be inculcated with homophobic principles. They conveniently ignore the fact that any sexual relationship outside of marriage would also not be allowed by this form.

What do people think here? Should a Christian university that receives no public funding, have the freedom to establish a law faculty (it already has a teacher's college among other faculties) and insist on a code of bahaviour for its students?
Gurpy 3/4/2014 2:17:57 PM Report

Any Cristian institute will enforce biblical living. If that does not suit the applicant, then they should apply elsewhere!
They operated independently of any government assistance for this very reason. The government does not protect the Christian faith because it is not a minority. A family member attended a bible college where a young female student became pregnant. She was sent home!
If one does not want biblical living, do NOT attend a bible believing institute.

Regarding the Trinity Western Story, Hunter made the comment that government would intervene in a private religious institution in certain circumstances. That is certainly correct in the case where the institution was doing something illegal such as in your example.

That's not the case in TWU's situation. In fact in 2001, the Supreme Court ruled that TWU could legally require its students to adhere to Christian principles (including the ban on adultery and fornication) and that there was no reason why the teacher graduates from TWU should be denied membership in the BC College of Teachers. The situation today with the Law Societies is exactly the same as it was then. Clayton Ruby and others are making the same arguments that the BC Teachers College tried to make in 2001, which were completely rejected by the Supreme Court.

Since the Supreme Court determined that TWU is legally able to demand these standards, any provincial law society that prevents TWU graduates from practicing law in its province would be in violation of the law.

notpc, what if their values are not reflective of the BC teachers college?

Truly theres people who do not get into school due to moral character.

There's ways around everything.
notpc 3/4/2014 8:35:34 PM Report

Normally the Colleges of Teachers, just like the Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons, or of Dentists or of Chiropractors, etc don't care about the religious values of the graduates seeking membership. They also don't care about the religious values of the university they might have graduated from. These colleges only care about the educational qualifications of the university and the candidate, and that the candidate not be guilty of a crime.

That is what is so unique about this situation. For the first time ever, the Law Societies in the provinces care about the religious values of the university where the candidates were trained because in this case they are Christian.

Is anyone in the downtown area still without internet?
Hunter101 3/4/2014 9:27:25 PM Report

because Christianity is not so favored in non-white areas. It has a history of ruining things for everyone except Christians.

That is from the mouth of a fully confirmed Christian.

If people don't like where you come from, chances are they aren't going to like you.
notpc 3/4/2014 9:37:05 PM Report

A couple things. First, Christianity is growing far faster right now in so-called non-white places than in white ones. Particularly in Latin America and Asia. It tends to grow fastest where people are struggling than in places where they are very comfortable.

Second, Colleges don't have the right to refuse candidates because they don't "like" their religion. The only legal criteria they can use, without violating human rights, is the candidate's qualifications and abilities.
Hunter101 3/4/2014 9:59:54 PM Report

I didn't say they had the right to do so, I just said it happens and that's probably why.

Also, notpc, you nailed it.

"Applicant is not qualified"

"Applicant was not chosen due to better alternatives"

An employer doesn't have to say the real reason why they don't hire someone, they can just give a BS technicality.
