Bobby, having immigrated from an inflation ridden country I would think you would have more respect for the only money that has stood the test of time.
EricThe SHERIFF 1/26/2014 7:14:41 AM Report

Copied & Pasted from the Ottawa Citizen.

Are you a cyberbully or just someone with strong opinions?

bounder 1/26/2014 7:31:42 AM Report

If you're sure of yourself ,you don't have to prove it to anyone.

It's freezing so if you're bored why not Google Rush Limbaugh's Florida home?
It is a portrait of neo-con excess in a warm climate.
I especially like the master bedroom done in the French Colonial Whorehouse style.
It's almost enough to cause this frozen northern senior to the Dark Side.
steelworker 1/26/2014 8:34:10 AM Report

What does a French-colonial whorehouse look like? If it is some place warm where can I sign up?
Bill_the_Cat 1/26/2014 8:46:31 AM Report

Googled the house. Not bad considering the area. Far more lavish cribs in FL to be found.

Not my bag though. The California high desert is more alluring. Palm Desert, looking at you!

Is there a shortage of sand for city use this year? I found many streets with glare ice sanders in sight.
Grump 1/26/2014 9:17:01 AM Report

Good morning everyone, still damn cold out there and still getting snow. I took my little Honda snow blower out yesterday and it kept trying to go back to the shed. Shakespeare that hoe would be the excavating machinery type not the Detroit Special type. In response to your last question regarding Mrs Grump, the very fact that I'm still alive should be your best answer. lol. Have a great day all.

I went for a ride yesterday and saw John's Deere running away from John and trying to get back in the garage
Grump 1/26/2014 10:23:08 AM Report

Soowat my little shed isn't even heated and Honda wanted back in. Glad I have plenty of wood inside and outside the shop. More cold and snow called for tonight. Enough already.

I knew the winter was long when I went to the grocery store and people were gathered around the produce watching the misters drizzle on the veggies.
Some were actually thawing out at the meat counter.
This is getting nutty.
Bobby Nerves 1/26/2014 11:04:12 AM Report

Good day all!

I can read Spelly, very nice of you, you'd thinking of my and my old country.

Yes, right you are, they have inflation and their money is worth nothing, but they produce a lot of wine and beer and other beverages, and most of it is for export, and a large chunk of it, to Canada, then the people like you can get drunk.

And for the time we both are dead, we'll know who was right, if you or me. When I go to Heaven, I'll ask God.

But if God is in Hell, you'll have to ask, and don't forget to let me know.
Spellchecker 1/26/2014 11:43:42 AM Report

Okay Bobby, you've got a deal, lol.

Afternoon folks... I seen on the " news " this morning that the Pope and some wee children released some Doves into the air as a sign of peace, but the Doves were attacked by the other birds, hmmmm..... Status... you having leftover Doritos for breakfast or did Darlene eat them all last night? ,lol... Have a great day Folks....

Yes talk about your "climate change"...a real typical Northern winter and some of the lefty kooks are talking like its an anomaly and their snow blowers have feelings.
Yep, that Rush, what a kook.....

Is anyone rumoured to be running against HER HONOR the Mayor in the next election? I never like a no contest situation. It might give her the idea we all love what she is doing for our city
BIG BROTHER 1/26/2014 1:11:41 PM Report

Yup, Rush is brilliant and David Suzuki is a kook.

Now, pass the kool aid.
Grump 1/26/2014 1:29:07 PM Report

rw you are such a breath of fresh air, not the same old right /left B.S, everyday like some folks. Also you are so informed listening to all the experts like Fox, Rush etc. and even throw in your own take on news and current affairs. Both Harper and yourselves are every bodies hero. Keep that good stuff coming as my garden needs it in the spring. LMAO
steelworker 1/26/2014 1:49:39 PM Report

You don't hear too much these days from the Goracle or Stupezuki. After Suzuki claimed that the entire West Coast would be a high radiation zone (shades of Godzilla!) because of Japan he kinda disappeared. I hope he didn't get his short little ass stuck in a snowbank somewhere.
Grump 1/26/2014 1:59:42 PM Report

Steelworker you are so informed that you too are like a breath of fresh air. Not just more of that red neck crap from you, no sir solid info you could take to the bank. You know the one that just went under in China. LMAO

As we prepare for two huge sporting events in the next few weeks the world is wondering how the radical nuts might respond.
Both the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics are rich propaganda targets in our sports mad world.
Yet aside from mentioning the possibility of suicide bombers no mention is mads of the use of gas or poison to affect even more participants and spectators.
At face value the world seems to be planning for potential antique methods of mayhem and no mention is made of more high tech and deadly weapons available.
66cherokee 1/26/2014 2:25:55 PM Report

I have been keeping up with the tragedy in Quebec. Someone said that it may and I say may have been caused by someone smoking in their room. I am a NON SMOKER, but believe that if this is the last place you'll ever go to, and let's face it, when you leave it will be feet first, that these seniors should have a well ventilated room to enjoy a cigarette once in awhile. I mean, some of these people have been smoking for 30, 40, 50 years and all of a sudden you either have to go outside or stop cold turkey. I'm sorry, but I don't think that they should have to do that. I know that you have to think of the workers, but they could wear face masks, they have to when there is a senior with the flu and they have to look after them. These people are basically at the end of their lives, and should have at least some pleasures left. And if someone says "it's better for their health", give me a break, they are elderly. Let them enjoy what little time they have on earth.
Resident 1/26/2014 2:34:43 PM Report

r.w. and steelworker: And the earth is flat!!! What does ridiculing people (who, in my opinion, have LOTS more knowledge than you) have to do with the issue steelworker?
mallet 1/26/2014 2:36:54 PM Report

But the world has banned the use of chemical weapons, don't you read the news, they are shipping all Assads stuff out and sinking in the ocean somewhere.. Terrorists do not have to have mass casualities to make thier point, the fact they can get past all the security in the world is proof enough. Remember Munich, Atlanta, if they want to do it, they can, whether it be outsiders or locals, determined fanatics cannot be stopped. The only way is to move everyone out of an area, double fence it in, with mines in the space between the two fences and only allow in people who have been thoughly vetted, and then you are 99% sure nothing untoward will happen, but there will always be that 1% chance you missed something.. Unfortunately today, we live in a very uncertain world, and being killed by someone in your own country is probably greater than being killed by a terrorist!!!
right wing 1/26/2014 2:41:04 PM Report

Don't say you weren't told......

Dr. Habibullo Abdussamatov who heads Russia’s prestigious Pulkovo Observatory in St. Petersburg predicts that: “after the maximum of solar Cycle-24, from approximately 2014, we can expect the start of the next bicentennial cycle of deep cooling with a Little Ice Age in 2055 plus or minus 11 years” (the 19th to occur in the past 7,500 years).

Dr. Abdussamatov points out that Earth has experienced such occurrences five times over the last 1,000 years, and that: “A global freeze will come about regardless of whether or not industrialized countries put a cap on their greenhouse gas emissions. The common view of Man’s industrial activity is a deciding factor in global warming has emerged from a misinterpretation of cause and effect.”
BIG BROTHER 1/26/2014 2:47:56 PM Report

And you believe some wacko from Russia over 1000's of European, American and Canadian scientists. Is his english name Rush.

Put the link up. You have proven unworthy of cut and paste, cherrypicking the statements which back your silly hypothesis and overlooking statements which refute your chosen positions.
mallet 1/26/2014 2:52:55 PM Report

I quite agree with you, however they should also be safe in their last home. From a personal point of view I think all seniors homes should be built of non flammable material, have sprinkler systems (however old the building) and not be over 2 storeys high. Putting people who are elderly and perhaps not so nimble in hi-rise buildings is asking for problems should the lifts/elevators go out, as has happened in North Bay a few times and as the elevators there have to be replaced, perhaps those with ambulatory problems should be moved to lower floors or other housing. But of course that is just my opinion!!!
steelworker 1/26/2014 3:24:35 PM Report

Don't worry right wing: arguing with a liberal is like trying to pick up a turd by the clean end. You have to type slowly or they get easily confused and start name-calling. As to the 1000 scientists who believe in "global warming" how many have been discredited for "cherrypicking" their information?
Grump 1/26/2014 3:27:37 PM Report

Mallet sadly a sprinkler system could/would have saved those seniors, wood frame or no. That said it's always much better to have fire rated materials for all types of multi housing units. Ontario passed a law back a bit that all seniors buildings must have sprinkler systems and it was a good call. Quebec now needs to do the same. STOP SENDING THAT DAMN SNOW.
Grump 1/26/2014 3:29:39 PM Report

You are right Steely ,there are lots of professional morons in the world. That said there was no requirement to join them.
Bobby Nerves 1/26/2014 3:38:19 PM Report

Fly, there is something fishy in the whole Winter Games thing and I'll tell you why.

Russians are desperately seeking for devices that only Americans have in order to detect explosives. And that's a technology that I don't think was shared with the British or any other allies.

The technology in question is far above whatever the Russians may have today or may plan to have in the future.

The Intelligence and Counter Intelligence community runs based in gossip, some with solid bases and other very volatile, then the whole thing about explosives and so is very relative at this point.

No much to fear, but to be very alert.

The Australian Brings You The Climate Science Denial News From Five Years Ago

Lead in story...
In reality, the headline should have read something like this “One solar physicist in Russia who is a member of a climate science denial organisation says we’re heading for global cooling but all the other people we spoke to say he’s dead wrong”.

Lloyd’s only “expert” warning of global cooling is Dr Habibullo Abdussamatov, a Russian solar physicist who has been claiming for at least four years that we’re heading for an ice age and we should all rug up. Abdussamatov says that climate change is all down to solar cycles and that the sun is in a quiet phase that will plunge us all into a deep freeze. Skeptical Science explains why this climate myth – one of the most popular – is wrong.

Gee, this cut and pasting is fun.

I had a wiener and marshmellow roast friday night and the boys and girls danced up a real storm.... directed at you.... then I went round all the adults and told them that you were a dyed in the wool Harper lover and boy did the flames get higher and the dance more frenzied... I think you are going to have your own little snowstorm cloud for the foreseable future..... ROTFLMAO....

BB...thanks for bothering to research rw's fantasy comments.
For the whatever time he has been proven to cherry-pick 'facts' to suit his theory.
Of course he won't change or admit he is nutty.
I find it amusing that he spends so much time Googling 'facts' and then forcing square pegs in round holes.

Sparks7 I get the connection now and while K.W. is a friend and I certainly would use him if I didn't already have one. I did post that I had been using someone as an advisor for over 30 years now and K.W. is good but not that old. That said if you were sick you would go to a Doctor, need work on you teeth see a Dentist, car broke, see a Mechanic etc. My point is would you trust someone you don't know giving you medical, dental or automotive advice on this blog? No likely so why would anyone take stock advice from Wisen? The old saying is true "a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing". Good luck with your investments.
Grump 1/26/2014 6:38:01 PM Report

Fly my problem is his trying to force square pegs into anyone he thinks is a lefty.

Although, it was not endorsed by all, I really got my morning chuckle over the Honda snowblower joke, Grump. I have one, too, and it did complain yesterday.

Had a fright with a water bubble on an inside wall of my living room at noon. Checked my attics (it's a four level split) and found a drip coming from the seam on the lower roof, between the roofs. Called my insurance and they sent their contractor of choice and they have done a fantastic job. My roof is now clear (incredible ice-build up, apparently) and the interior wall is cut out and ready for repair. They even snow-blew the driveway. I won't even have to make a claim on insurance as this family business make it worth my while to just pay them. It's great to see a local, friendly, courteous and caring contractor (other than Grump, of course).

You admire Rush (The Oxy Contin kid) who, perhaps in one of his stupors, said,"There are more acres of forestland in America today than when Columbus discovered the continent in 1492."
Hunter101 1/26/2014 8:14:33 PM Report

rw, steely, you really can't win when you argue with morons.

Global warming is only the biggest hoax since oil companies tried to say we were running out of oil and we wouldn't have any left by now.

People will believe anything that makes sense to them. Apparently, the last ice age was caused by Dinosaur farts according to global to warming.

How can you argue that CO2 is causing global warming when trees use it for photosynthesis and we exhale it?

Absolutely amazing. Our winters are no better or worse than before. It's a cycle. Nothing more and nothing less.

If global warming is causing our planet to gradually warm, then why such a cold winter?

Come on Grump, I know you have the answer to this one.... along with your usual smorgasbord of compelling factual evidence.
soowat 1/26/2014 8:22:35 PM Report

If you can't win when you argue with morons that must explain why few argue with you.

Are you the Hunter the animals laugh at,because you stand there scratching your crotch and muttering because you forgot youur gun
Hunter101 1/26/2014 9:41:03 PM Report

soowat, it's easier to have a debate with someone who is rational. Anyone who argues global warming is probably not.

When you have nothing better to do than guess at my intelligence, then that clearly demonstrates yours.
