Just Curious: You beat me by a few seconds. Ya you're right about the dogs my two Poms wake me up before the alarm and then want to go outside oh for about as long as it takes to do their business then its scratching at the patio doors to get back in....LOL.

Just Curious 1/9/2014 6:56:57 AM Report

Some mornings my dog jumps on the bed, gets a pet and goes to sleep for a couple of hours. When he won't get up and just stands and pants, you know he's holding and needs out.. Funny how you learn to read them and vice-versa over the years.....:)
old-cat33 1/9/2014 7:02:17 AM Report

Went to the Hounds game last night and it was nice to see Spanoze get his first point as a Sarnia Sting!

The little choir that sang the National Anthem was cute!I think when a woman sings the National Anthem it sounds better?? Like the little sweet heart at the last game.
Also I think they have to bring back the ole organ player! The rock music is good for the start of the games and start of the periods but during the game holy crap the fans are either texting or sitting on thier hands. Being nobody can blow a horn or holler at our home games anymore the team needs another source of noise makers besides that clock and it's Bell instant replay....LOL

I received an e-mail from Councilor Meyers yesterday that was a copy of one she got from the Bd. of Works re. snow removal.
I'm sure I'm not the only Ward Two resident that she keeps up to date.
It is a wonderful example of good representation by an elected person.
I appreciate it and am curious if other tax payers in other wards are kept so well informed.

Good morning everyone and you two, early rising, old foggies as well. Nice to have it warm up a bit. I had to come home Monday and yesterday and put on more clothes so it was either damn cold or I'm getting old and soft. Well time to get at it, have a great day all.

Yesterday on CBC radio's "The Debaters" one of the topics was "It is time for Canada to have an 'ethnic' Prime Minister." It was hilarious, politically incorrect and I believe inoffensive. We shall see.
The second debate concerned bagpipes and was funny, too.
Just Curious 1/9/2014 8:01:03 AM Report

right wing 1/9/2014 9:21:13 AM Report

I notice the majority of folks really appreciate the nice easy to move large recycle bins.
I thought everybody was going to hate them come winter.
They were all going to end up in the dump.
These bins were to be a sure fired disaster story, it was predicted by a lefty, of course once again...it never happened.
From garbage bins to road construction, city development to world trade agreements this group focuses on and sees nothing but negatives.
They thrive on the prediction of impending doom. (see man driven global warming)
Must be a really downer life they live each day.

So I wonder what one note rant they will chant today -climate change, Harper's lock on re-election,Trudeau's dark privileged druggy past, how well the economy is doing,Rob Ford's canonization,Obama's lousy record on everything, welfare bums,or some new thing?
I can't wait.

You have done almost as good a job of story twisting as the Sault Star did.
Not sure what the point was to all of it other than another lame attack on conservatives.
If this story was authored by a conservative aimed at a liberal we would of course get to hear the never ending wailing about attack ads and how despicable they are.

I guess theprotector's thong visual could be considered a negative... but that depends on your gender.

Another comment to make about Canada Post, when everything "local" was re-assigned to Toronto (apparently that is incorrect as I was told it now goes to Hamilton), we knew service was going to be even slower than before.

Grump 1/9/2014 10:51:26 AM Report

rw By the way just more of you B.S. If you go back through the posts I was in favour of the new blue and yellow combination from the beginning and still am. BIG BROTHER 1/9/2014 12:13:30 PM Report

Absolutely correct Grump.

Yesterday, all we heard from our resident brainwashed, was how wonderful the Trade Agreement with the EU is. Yet none of them could actually produce the Trade Agreement in any form. ie. internet, newspaper, etc.

That's called 'drinking the kool aid' without coming up for air.

Zing 1/9/2014 12:29:30 PM Report

New this year, every time they send a grader to scrape the road down, they also send a pay-loader to clean up the end of the driveway.

Love it when that happens.
northernmale 1/9/2014 12:54:14 PM Report

Last week was my recycle day , and my new bin was full. So I hauled it out to the curb or should I say dragged it. Well not thinking as I pulled it out I left it at curb facing the wrong way, forgot to turn it around/. So the guy in the truck takes a paper out checks off container facing the wrong way and leaves it sticking out of the box.Yes it was my fault but if he got out of the truck anyway why did he not turn the bin? So now he will have to do it this week as I had to bundle up this week paper recycles. But I will now check to make sure the handle faces my house.
Just Curious 1/9/2014 1:03:28 PM Report

@northernmale; There you go, he made his point. It's up to you to make sure it's turned the right way. I've done that kind of work and it's not that he couldn't do it but there are a lot of people out there that would just put them out any old way expecting him to turn them and he doesn't have the time. I make sure mine is out the right way and sitting level, even if I have to shovel a hole for it to sit in. I live by myself so I only put mine out once a month so it's not so bad..
theprotector 1/9/2014 1:24:10 PM Report

well I cant move those bins, too damn hard so everything goes into the garbage
Jimssm 1/9/2014 1:29:36 PM Report

theprotector...

....And then you haul the garbage to the street...every week. The big bins every 2 or 3 weeks. You haven't saved yourself any effort at all.

I find the big bins easy to maneuver with their big wheels. The hardest thing is getting them to sit level because I don't keep the end of my driveway in the best condition.
Bobby Nerves 1/9/2014 1:30:37 PM Report

There is something I got to tell you fellow members... Yesterday evening I visited a watering hole, know for being the one where all cons meet.
Once inside, I noticed in one table three well know participants of this blog, right wing, wisenheimer and the lady steelworker.

I noticed rightwing blowing air into wisenheimer ear.
I'd ask what in hell was he doing, and steelworker said:

He's transferring data, I'm next!

Now you'll understand.
Grump 1/9/2014 1:38:49 PM Report

Very good Bobby but he doesn't have to get that close, he can do it over the internet. Once you have been cloned and put in the cult they tell me that with any brains they had sucked out that they are easy to program.

If it was a Lib bar I don't think the libs would be blowing in each others ears.
Left Winger 1/9/2014 1:42:30 PM Report

northern male

I agree with you about the recycling truck drivers...if they can take the time to climb down off of their chariot to place a piece of paper on your recycle bin then what's so hard for them to spin the container around in order to dump then leave the letter?

Happened to me just before Christmas break and ended up with one and half months worth of recycle, oh well most went into the garbage since I figure if they can't take the time to turn the damn thing around then why should I take the time to sort the stuff out
theprotector 1/9/2014 1:42:32 PM Report

drag the bags its easier
northernmale 1/9/2014 1:58:02 PM Report

Left Winger I have no problem saying it was my own mistake . . It would have only took him a minute to turn it around then he could have left me the note to remind me.I think it will not be to long before you see your garbage getting picked up by the same type of trucks. Less chance of drivers getting hurt picking up bags. Can see the end of my driveway soon no place to drive out of blocked by bins. And yes I have learned my lesson as one said.
Grump 1/9/2014 2:02:05 PM Report

Bobby it just occurred to me that a little class would benefit the clones but then I thought just who would teach them unless one of the Liberals volunteered. Double LMAO.
flyhawk25 1/9/2014 2:10:36 PM Report

In the past two days I have put out two comments about positive actions in our city.

Well Fly congratulations you got the niner.
flyhawk25 1/9/2014 2:51:52 PM Report

Grump...I agree about those dinners.
My son was involved in one and they are very nice.
Just remember that the young chefs' menus are subsidized educational events and the kids don't have to balance the costs against the real overhead.
That isn't the purpose - it's to let them showcase their skills which are considerable.
Enjoy.

Fly---The Canadian Tire Guy is a rare local success. No need to elaborate.Anybody that reads the local news knows that.Sofar, he apparently hasn't done anything to annoy the locals, but with his added support from his peers at the chamber, watch out for a return to Boxing Day shopping on this side. One of the divisive issues here in the Blue Room,is cross- border shopping. The Chamber should be doing some serious work to combat that. It's been going on ever since I moved here from the land of the tall hardwood trees ,and the sparkling waters 40 years ago. What's that statistic?90% of Canadians live within 100 miles of the U.S. Border.Your other positive comment concerned your Alderberry person.90% of us don't live in her ward.Yes that is a nice gesture to keep you informed, and it was a nice plug to mention it.Unfortunately, most people who have contact with their aldermen, only do it when they have a problem ,or when they need a favour .
Since you brought it up, that is my response.Certainly no negetivity intended there.
flyhawk25 1/9/2014 3:42:28 PM Report

Wild Turkey 1/9/2014 4:24:15 PM Report

Wicket--a couple of days ago you put out an innocent question about Who Should you vote for, and why.I agree with your comment, that you got very few useable responses. This could be because the election is two years off, as is the proposed free trade deal with St. Pierre and Miquelon.
I follow the comments here daily, and I too am seeking some guidance in regards, that question. We still have lots of time to formulate an answer.
Yesterday, in the local news section, there was a story (Retort) to B. Hayes coments about Justin Trudeau. Many of the comments were well thought out, and provided me with a lot of new insight on the topic. My best advice to you is to wait and see.As Yogi Berra once said,"It ain't over "til its over. But then he also said "If you come to afork in the road---Take it"
Wicket 1/9/2014 4:29:07 PM Report

another laughable incident concerning the recycling bins -
our street has parking on one side only and that happens to be the side we live on. Needless to say, that during the day there is always a car parked in front of our house and the one next door. The bin pickup guy left a note saying that he couldn't reach our bin because WE had cars parked on either side of it. A phone call to the office kinda corrected the situation; now if there are cars parked there, he moves the bin and leaves it 6-8 ft away from the curb on the road, so when the cars leave.......

Bobby Nerves 1/9/2014 10:08:58 PM Report

fly, I don't think so.
There is a group of people traveling farther than Soo Michigan for shopping. They go to Petoskey, Grand Rapids and beyond.

There is also a group of people within the sunshine club and many others with huge salaries and they are tempted for the prices, service and variety they could get down South.

The bridge will still see them going over because local business can not compete, and if the stores can offer the same product, the snobs like to show what they brought from the land of the the free and the brave.

In my case, I'll have to spend 4 or 5 thousand dollars and acquire one of those tiny two cylinder car. I don't drive much anymore, but I have a truck that for some reason, each time I step on the pedal, Saudi Arabia sinks one foot deeper.

For the rest, my diet is very simple and no fancy foods here, no alcohol, no tobacco.

The ones that are gonna feel the pinch are those vacationing, they will have to adjust the budget.

Bobby it will take a pail of Vaseline, a strong rope and several pry bars to get you out of one of those little cars. They are not built for big boys like you. Stick with a truck that you can get in and out off. Even a little fellow like me would get stuck in one of those upholstered roller skates.
Mark Brown 1/10/2014 12:49:35 AM Report

Hi all,

There is a local solution to discourage people from cross-border shopping, but that particular solution will lose politicians their seats if it is tried, therefore that solution will never be implemented.

That was nice of councillor Myers to update constituents with the Public Works snow removal information. I wish all city councillors did that, and I hope councillor Myers continues to do that after the election is over too.

Sincerely and Respectfully,
Mark Brown
