Good Morning Bounder & RED ROOMIES -

It pretty much drizzled snow and still is!

So, anyway I put up a few lights also. 'Tis the Season (What, am I stupid? I'm paying the electricty...)

Well I am going out to shovel to the curbside.

Enjoy your day

Good morning everyone.

Not a bad day out there, I should know.
I was at the grocery store three times already, LOL.

I went to the store early this morning and bought what I needed, so I thought.
I didn`t have baking soda, back to the store.
Where in the heck did all that baking soda go, it usually lasts a long time.

So, I put everything I needed on the counter for my recipe, no fecking sugar because I don`t buy it anymore, and I wasn`t going to use my Splenda, that cost too much.

So, I had a late start with my baking.
I`am a morning person, full of Piss and Vinegar as my dad would say, LOL.

Finally, I have something in the oven.

Awe, you are hilarious C "illy"

You would not have posted in such a happily style - otherwise. HA.

Everyone have a great day, today.

Out there tonight, looking at the decorations.........

I think I ate too much sugars....I thought that was suppose to make you all wired up?

What is in the oven Celeste5?

I am making cheesy scalloped potatoes, orange ginger indoor grilled salmon and steamed brocceoli and carrots....

Counterbalance the sweets, perhaps?

Morning Folks...

All the ice except that is fast to the shore has gone, and it's F'ing well snowing again, I am getting a little tired of waking up to a yard full of drifted snow. I can see "Bah Humbug" is going to be the usual expression around here real soon.

Went to town yesterday, got everything we needed and if we didn't, too bad, then it won't get got. Went to both the girls, delivered the prezzies, mostly useless things for them and the grandkids and gift certificates for the guys, they are easy to shop for...

The roads are a bit of a mess everywhere, strange how the parking lots seem much better plowed and cleared..

You all take care out there, it's going to be messy..

celeste5 12/17/2013 11:25:23 AM Report

Seriously

I have two Spicy Pumpkin Loafs in the oven right now and two cooling.

May make two more later today if don`t find a good enough recipe for the rest of the pumpkin, maybe cookies.

I put off my baking because I didn`t want to spend any money.

My Great Nephew is in the hospital in Ottawa, he has a tumor behind his eye.
Found out late yesterday it`s not Cancerous.
The Specialists and Plastic Surgeon are now taking about what`s the best thing to do. He`s only 5 months old.
bounder 12/17/2013 12:08:44 PM Report

Celest5 I hope everything works out for your nephew.
I'm making Apple Turkey Sausage on Thursday, something different.

Made 2 curtains for the ice shack, with a sewing machine, first time for everything.
DutchTouch 12/17/2013 12:14:03 PM Report

So sorry to hear about your little nephew celeste but there is hope for the little fellow.
Doctors can work wonders these days and because he is young he shouldn't have any serious after effects.
As for baking, I have orders to get out my mom's old Dutch recipes so am working on them now.
Have a great day even if it's snowing.
Drive carefully and get home safe.
celeste5 12/17/2013 12:16:07 PM Report

Bounder

Thanks

I do alterations for people, they think sewing on the sewing machine is hard, LOL.
The damn thing does the sewing, you just guide the material.
celeste5 12/17/2013 12:23:17 PM Report

And put some pressure on the foot pedal.
bounder 12/17/2013 12:55:58 PM Report

The sewing was easy , threading that tiny little needle was a pain, had to take it out to thread it.
soowat 12/17/2013 1:04:31 PM Report

celeste5

My mom used a treadle machine and did a lot of sewing. In her later years when, I guess, she figured we were old enough to hear/understand such a comment she would often say that the treadle machine kept her butt interesting and the old man at home.

That's something I hadn't thought of in years. As Bob Hope would sing, "thanks for the memories"
celeste5 12/17/2013 1:30:55 PM Report

Soowat

My mother had a Treadle Sewing Machine.

Those old machines are worth some money, is it still in the family?

I tried to take a little nap but cooking excites me, LOL.
I`am happy when I cook, I put on the oldies music.
mallet 12/17/2013 2:44:32 PM Report

Oh Dear... the baking has to be put off until the weekend, have a new shower being installed thursday and friday. The old spouse isn't as nimble as she used to be, and loses her balance when in the shower so we having one installed with a seat and larger area base, That's the houses' Xmas present and ours' too. I suppose I will get there too one day, so it is not wasted. However it means I shall have to wait to taste the mincemeat pies, jam tarts, cheese straws, Xmas cake and plum duff.Jezz it's a hard life, but someone has to suffer, so it might as well be me!!................. for a while..
soowat 12/17/2013 2:58:22 PM Report

No we no longer have it. We sold it when mom died. Th price we got for compared to what she probably paid for it back in the day probably caused her to spin in her grave. I have no idea what they are going for today, but if I owned one I would do some serious investigating before I sold it

"Made 2 curtains for the ice shack, with a sewing machine, first time for everything."

Holy smoke! The other day I was called a "caveman" for using a pressure cooker. I shudder to think what they are going to call you.
celeste5 12/17/2013 4:28:35 PM Report

I wonder what they would say about my Dad in the sixties.

He knew how to make pies and he made home made bread just about every Sunday, I never saw him once looking at a Cook Book.

He knew how to darn socks, knit and cochet, LOL.

I have a story about curtains.

My dad worked away from home, he was only home on weekends.
One time he asked me who stopped by to visit mom, I told him, just so and so, ah, he said, I don`t have to worry about him, they just dye each others hair and talk about curtains and stuff like that.

Anyway I just found out the man was Gay a few years ago.
I was telling my sister about what our dad said, she just laughed and said, why didn`t you say something before, I`m like, I was a little girl and didn`t know what he meant.
