Fly and lookaround: two idiot children with the same mothers but 50 years apart? Hello hillbillies! Sing that song "I am my own Granpa". Off to work-(ya really ought to try that sometime).

It looks like the snow machine is finally on holidays. Let the cleanup begin. It is a true CUERRIER AND IVES morning out there.
Grump 12/13/2013 6:53:21 AM Report

Good morning everyone, that said after reading last evenings post I really have to wonder. Someone must have told the swampers that Santa is coming and got them all stirred up. If that wasn't bad enough there is Steely on again this A.M. trying to justify his "I heard" in his usual moronic, crude grunts. For goodness sake will someone put up a notice that Santa doesn't deliver to the swamp. (in pictures of course) and get them settled down. The grunts are easy to read but then I get to thinking what tragedy could have caused all that brain loss. Have a good day all.
Grump 12/13/2013 7:07:49 AM Report

I see Daniel Dale has filed a libel suit against Mayor Ford and Vision Tv after Ford suggested that Dale was taking pictures of his little children and speculated maybe he was a pedophile. A police investigation confirmed that in fact he was not taking pictures of the children but the property next door that Ford was trying to buy. Ford stated he stands behind his remarks and so far Vision TV has no comment. The Deputy Mayor has asked Ford to retract as the statement is beyond the pale. On another note Doug Ford said he was not buying votes handing out 20.00 bills at a housing development. He now suggests he also is a victim of the new Texas malady. The Tea Baggers have certainly shown our neo-con darlings some new unethical twists. I thought they were plenty bad enough on their own.

Happy Friday the 13th.
Some folks believe that we will have bad luck today. But how much 'bad luck' can we endure?
We've pretty much had enough for one year.
Crazy weather,bad government, deaths....
So if the myth is true it's probably best to just stay in bed and not temp the gods.

Queen Street finally opens on Friday the 13 th........YEAH !!!Now lets get going on opening Queen up by the casino. What is the holdup there ? A six week job is now a 6 month delay.

The spelling grinch stole a 't' off 'tempt'!
I rest my case.

Wild Turkey 12/13/2013 8:32:52 AM Report

Just read the piece about Ontario Northland.Huron Central were making noises about possibly closing the Soo- Sudbury Line. The Mayor, Essar Steel and I think the Provincial Gov. got to-gether and came up with a plan to upgrade the line and keep it going.
Perhaps this is just a ploy to get all interested parties to-gether to reach the same solution over at Northland.
It would be a welcome announcement on Fri 13th , just before Christmas.
BIG BROTHER 12/13/2013 8:45:00 AM Report

Wild Turkey,
They are simply waiting for a taxpayer gift. Corporate welfare!! You know, the same guy's who blame all the welfare 'bums' for all of society's ills, are holding the government ransom for some 'free' money.
theprotector 12/13/2013 8:53:21 AM Report

from what I understand cp would just simply like to sell the shortline to Essar and be done with it.
Wild Turkey 12/13/2013 9:06:48 AM Report

I believe C.P. already sold that Short Line to Genesee/Wyoming.If the price were right maybe they'd be interested in acquiring Ontario Northland. There are many other conditions that have to be met first 'though.
theprotector 12/13/2013 9:10:20 AM Report

no they are just leasing it to them, cp still owns it
Wild Turkey 12/13/2013 9:33:46 AM Report

@Pro---Huron Central's web page indicates that "they" were acquired by Genesee/Wyoming in 1997. It doesn't state whether it was by lease agreement,or purchase. So now what?
right wing 12/13/2013 9:38:15 AM Report

I guess this guy was no longer in the family circle of trust...

"Young North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's previously powerful uncle has been executed as a traitor, the country's state-run news service said Thursday."

Ya gotta love being related to a communist dictator...brings a whole new meaning to losing out in a family squabble.

Yeah if you or I got mad at our relatives we might strike them off the Christmas card list. Being related to that mental and physical midget is a whole different game
theprotector 12/13/2013 9:53:25 AM Report

your right but the line between the sault and sudbury belongs to CP rail as the parent company for huron central is under contract with CP for its operation.

Makes you feel good knowing that nutbars such as this might get their hands on nukes.
Not to worry the U.S. can send John Kerry over and he'll cut em a deal, a deal we can trust them to honour...right.
gcubed 12/13/2013 10:01:38 AM Report

Last year the Ontario government announced they were selling the ONTC, which we all will remember as the ONR.

The government said they would save $280 Million over two years by shutting down the railway. The Auditor General in her report said it appears the government overlooked the fact that they had signed an agreement with 347 employees of the ONTC that guaranteed their jobs for 14 years. These people will go home and get paid for 14 years it seems.

Did something similar happen with rail employees in Hornepayne? I was told that those employees had a much longer contract and continue to receive their pay till age 65. Does anyone here have better knowledge of the subject?
Big Bad Bob 12/13/2013 10:03:03 AM Report

In a lousy Communist dictatorship (and I would say off hand that North Koreas is the worlds worst despotic regime of any colour or tint), nobody trusts anybody.
Kim Jong Un, who actually studied for a time in Switzerland and knows what free democracy is all about, must know within his heart of hearts what an unworthy piece of shit he is himself and that his worst enemy and that of his whole rotten system is freedom for anybody, even his own immediate circle including his family. Choosing his uncle as the first biggy to be liquidated is simply a graphic way of emphasising the point that there is only one free individual in his suffering country, namely HIMSELF.
Wisenheimer 12/13/2013 10:08:51 AM Report

Essar borrowing money to buy ore for #7.
Won't be running a rail line anytime soon. Steve may save us yet with a deep water harbour. Watch for it!
New bridge plaza, and harbour for Essar's offshore interests. Grump will be catatonic.
Would be glorious.
Wild Turkey 12/13/2013 10:17:09 AM Report

@Pro----our little conversation is a very good example to me ,as to why it is a good idea to THINK about what you post before hitting the send button.Had I done some research I would have seen that this is a losing proposal for everyone but the employees. What a dumb contract on the government side! There is no way anyone will buy this railroad with all the "baggage" attached to it.Best to just keep it going for 14 years and then try to sell it.
theprotector 12/13/2013 10:22:36 AM Report

remember the city pays huron central directly for all the maintainance of each crossing within city limits. So how much does that cost the tax payer?
flyhawk25 12/13/2013 10:52:03 AM Report

Given our 'track' record probably a lot more than it should.
What the heck. It's taxpayers' money so why worry?

That doggone left wing MSM is at it again.
Now the Toronto Star and a reporter are suing Rob Ford for his statements during that Conrad Black interview where he implied that the reporter was a pervert stalking Ford's kids when he photographed an empty lot attached to Ford's house.
Enough is enough. Even Lord Black was appalled.
That same newspaper broke the story about Ford's crack usage. Sadly Rob can't sue over that. He admitted it.
It's time to get some real common sense news people like Rush hitting the airways and dump these lefty trouble making liars.

"Toronto's city council has voted to drastically reduce Mayor Rob Ford's powers. They say this reduces him to a 'mere figurehead' - which still sounds better than 'crackhead.'" -Jay Leno

For those who don't believe the media reports items with a bias or slant, it is interesting (to me anyway) how two major media outlets can report on the same story with two completely different approaches and cite totally different numbers as facts.
