As we wait for the sunrise I will begin my day's prayer with renewed attention for my favorite one armed sailor.
The sun today will be shining on him in his hospital just as it will on us at our computers; I pray that his day is peaceful and filled with good outcomes.
In his suffering and broken body he has taught me much about forgiveness, love and patience.
It has been a wonderful voyage so far sailor - strong breeze and smooth seas today.

I just thought I'd give an update on my two new sons for those of you who are interested.
They arrived at the local airport last week... 23 hour plane ride having never been on a plane before. Both got sick in my car on the ride from the airport... my fault as I didn't realize how traumatic a first car ride would be.
They slept in beds for the first time in their lives, drank clean water from a tap, ate something other than rice.
They are probably more different culturally than any others I have met, definitely much more than my African sons. (I am still trying to get them to close doors when they go to the bathroom )
They are very musical, there is always singing in the house and the old Heintzman is getting a workout for the first time in years. It's nice.
Health wise, one is ok but the other seems to have a lot of anxiety, probably due to PTSD. The Burmese military lined his family up and shot them all when he was 7. He and one sister were the only ones to survive. He has been in the refugee camp for 12 years without ever leaving.
Both of them love nature, and walks on Whitefish are a joy. Keeping them from climbing the trees was a problem, though.
Anyways, enough babble. Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning everyone and a big hello to you Skipper Dave. The boss and I are in Sudbury next weekend and will try and get by. You are one tough old dude, so hang in there with our prayers and best thoughts for a good recovering winter and back sailing the "Lady" in the spring. I'm so far behind that it's another weekend in the mines for the crew and I. Have a great day all.

Thanks for the report Jim. I believe you are right as the recruiters seem to be able to convince these mental midgets that killing unbelievers (or anyone else close by) is their ticket into Paradise. They further swallow the hog wash that the 40 virgins are part of the package. You are also correct that they believe in the same God, the fly in the ointment being since Christians believe in the Trinity and that Jesus, the son of God was sent as the Saviour that we are unbelievers since they say there is only one God. They claim Jesus was real but not God's son. I can't imagine how but they have twisted this into believing that it is their duty to convert or kill all non believers. This is some what like keeping a tiger for a pet as sure as the Lord made little green apples he will maim or kill you one day.

The best way for the West to take the wind out of the Islamic recruiters' sails is for the USA to stop interfering in their government/economy etc., but we all know that isn't going to happen.
Money is involved, after all.

"Of course the difference is that the president of the US - also called the same name - just called the president of Iran.First time in thirty years some form of communication started."
Liberals never give up the spin...or course it was Obama that made the call...but according to the White House, the idea to hold the call came at short notice from the Rouhani team.
Obama had no clue it was going to happen. Rouhani is on a world wide "tour" tweeting and everthing...he even stole Obama's thunder on the phone call announcement by tweeting it out to the world....this is all to improve Rouhani's public image so what better president to call than Hollywood Obama.

"it is hard to know what to make of this. If the pro-Rouhani demonstrators were genuine, it is also unclear whether they were happy that Rouhani had brought the weak and feckless Obama to heel, or because they were hoping that nuclear war would be averted."

On the two assumptions that, like me :
1. nobody on this site has appreciated the Iran regime very much since the days of Ayatollah Khomeini; and
2. nobody is gung ho (or stupid) enough to want to move in there and “right” things like Dubya in the case of Iraq,
it seems to me that Rouhani, whose job will not be an easy one, should be given a chance to show what he can do. As compared with his predecessors, he has no way to go but up. Even a small deal with him would be progress and a lot cheaper than warfare or armed intervention whereby only little guys get hurt. The West can always drop him if he turns out to be a bummer like the others.
flyhawk25 9/28/2013 10:26:21 AM Report
I keep waiting to read some expert on here suggest that the US just bomb Iran into the 3rd century. The trouble is much of them are there now.

Most hackers can turn on a laptop webcam remotely, so she needed to have the entire computer turned off.
As well, most android and iPhones have a hack where someone can turn on your phone cam and mic remotely. BlackBerry is the only phone immune to such tampering, which is why the DnD (and terrorists) use them.

You and I will probably disagree on a lot of issues, but as far as Iran is concerned, I am not really sure how long the "elected" president will last. There is a very old saying, "beware of Arabs bearing gifts", if I were Obama I would be watching my back very close..
For what you are doing for your "sons" you have my admiration, there are not many who would invite complete strangers into their home..

Wisenup. There is a big difference between consenting adults and invasion of privacy. She has found out that there is no shortage of basement dwellers who get their kicks from hacking and getting chubbies while posting pic's on the net. How many people who own computers, shut them off when they walk away from them? Again, you don't know any of the details, outside of what was initially reported, and defend the perv over the victim. That it was somehow her fault or done on purpose is one of your lamest postings yet. But I know it won't be the last.

I was called a "son of a gun" today. Felt proud and quite happy with myself until I looked up where that term actually came from. Depressed again.
(I am glad you asked)....the term "son of a gun" originated in the British navy, when those "randy" sailors brought native dames up on deck and did the "nasty" in between the ship's guns. Hence, the little bastards that popped out nine months later where called "son of a gun".

SQ...funny you should mention that. Part of my day was spent with my darling daughter who is on ODSP and as nice as anyone I know.
Just to placate her we visited the cemetery to 'see mum's grave'. Lovely spot that my dad and I picked out for my mother years ago. So I parked in front of it and she went 'to say a prayer'. I just sat and watched my dear daughter reverently say whatever and I smiled at the beauty of the day and the moment. That was probably not unlike your bike ride.
Lovely fall day, all my important women in one place and me just watching and hoping that if there is an afterlife they were all on the same page.
No rules or silly things. Just a bit of love on a nice day.

Great stuff today folks... all of us!!! And I'm still thinking about you skipper.
As for the post the yesterday about the young student of oriental descent wearing the surgical mask, immediately after seeing her I rolled up beside her because I always want to get to know my neighbours as best I can, and her mask peaked my interest.
When I stopped my cab beside her she came over to my front passenger window, pulled down the mask so her mouth was uncovered, and told me that she was wearing the mask so her fellow students and teachers would not get HER illness!!!
What a thoughtful young lady.
It was interesting to see that most people ignored my question, rw tried to slag me because of my question, and Jimssm used the question to inform and educate us!
