Good morning everyone, another fall morning. rw I'm glad you finally manned up and made a challenge re Harper's chance of re-election. That said beside being the kiss of death for Harper, my favorite children's charity is always in need of some extra support. I await your donation, name your poison. LMAO. Have a great day all.
learningaswego 9/6/2013 8:50:49 AM Report
grump all you want about Harper, but he ain't goin' anywhere my friend.
Once an election comes around, and the voters are actually paying attention, they'll get to see what a vaccuous airhead pretty boy Trudeau is, and how completely out of his league to actually lead a country.
Except for the twits in the Twitterverse, nobody will be fooled by Trudeau spouting empty platitudes whenever he is asked to answer a real question.
flyhawk25 9/6/2013 9:20:42 AM Report
It seems to me that when you are jockeying to run the country you speak in broad brush strokes. If you don't you run the risk of forming a government, checking the books and finding out that things aren't what you thought.
If you get too specific you run the risk of having it come back to haunt you.
It's called having a vision. It's up to the voters to decide if they buy into it.
Given the current state of our nation if the election were soon I'd support Trudeau Lite.
I just don't share Harper's view.

Oh I don't know Mr. P. You could buy a newspaper or google your query if you really want to know. Perhaps you just want to rail about stuff you don't understand.

I believe charity begins at home. There are many Canadians living in poverty; many on the streets;most of whom have mental problems. Our infrastructure is in dire need of repair; roads, bridges etc. They don't even know who the rebels are in Syria . I'm sure our money could be better spent at home.

I traveled across the 4th Line yesterday....the construction work is over ( what a total inconvenience )it took them forever to repair the damage don this spring by a very large rainfall.
I thought Sootoday made announcements when roadwork was completed. I couldn't find that announcement on here anywhere. Sure spent a lot of money on gas making the daily detour (which was not clearly marked)
cathyh 9/6/2013 11:17:27 AM Report
In total Canada will have donated 248.5 million $ to Syria. Canadians really haven't been given an accounting of exactly where the money has gone. The broad term of "agencies" is insufficient accounting. IMHO Canadians should know exactly what agencies and how many dollars were given to each. When I pay my taxes I have to be very precise or the CRA asks for a full accounting.
Mr. Poster 9/6/2013 11:20:31 AM Report
...and that is just aid to Syria....think of all the other handouts that are being given by Harper and company. Charity must begin at home.
Wisenheimer 9/6/2013 12:22:48 PM Report
Be careful what you wish for, stingy aid people. The "kinder and gentler" Libs and Dippers are much more generous with your loonies than the Tories ever will be. Just saying!
theprotector 9/6/2013 12:51:01 PM Report
compare numbers, harper has given millions more to other countries than any past PM. Get your facts straight sir
cathyh 9/6/2013 1:31:24 PM Report
Wisenheimer: I beg to differ with your "stingy aid" moniker. Personally, I didn't say don't give the aid just that a better accounting to the taxpayer who is funding it would be nice. I give to charity all the time but the organizations I support account for where the money goes.

Wisen, pull your head out of your ass. That 248 million dollars would have gone a long way to caring for the homeless in our own country. All it's doing in Syria is buying more weapons and gas and killing more people. It's Canada's way of staying out of the war but funding it indirectly. If you can't see that you clearly have no idea at all what's happening in the world and your comments amount to a spot of pee on a rock..Look after our own first with our tax dolars that we contribute(or have to pay)and then take a look at what we can do for others...Charity begins at home, not in some other country that hasn't a clue what the word charity means.....
@ fLY;have to agree with you,I would vote for Trudeau just for the sake of having a new idea of how to do things...Hell,he can't do worse than some of the idiots that have run this country at times....:)

@ Niigaanis, same thing applies, was just curious as Austraia is the one country outside of Canada that I would like to have the time to visit. If you are still there I envy you. Have read a lot and have family there and wish I had the time left to go there.(and the funds...LOL).
And by the way, have spent the entire summer at Ojibway park and have been dealing steady with the native peoples that work here..Have no problems with any of them and actually enjoyed my time with them. They are as are most people, just do their jobs and get on with life. JC - I wish I was still but 3 and half months was starting to wear thin...if you have family there, that's half the battle...hotels/motels plus food and entertainment can quickly drain your funds...it's the damn flight that took a lot out of me. Cycled the hub trail today for the first time. The Fort Creek section is spectacular. I found the signage a little erratic and went the wrong way a couple of times, but will know better next time.
It seems as though Wisen has been pretty frisky today with his posts. I'm sure all Lib supporters just give a wry smile when they observe the crowing of such as learning, grace and r.w. who have not learned from history. The best thing for the Liberal cause is for the Cons not to take him seriously.
Remember Peterson! Remember Romney!
But keep it up guys! Your complacency will make it more fun for some people (not me) to rub your snouts in it when Trudeau cleans out the pigpen.

That's funny shakespere. Funny because as I've been many times a Liberal supporter. In fact, whenever I think they are the best party among the pickins available, I'll gladly vote for them.
He11, if young Turdeau actually turns out to be more than a flake with good hair, a nice suit, and a million dollar inheritance, then I might even vote Liberal again.
I even voted for PET, because at the time I was young naive fool, and thought he was cool. With the benefit of hindsight, it is easy to see how foolish it was to vote for PET; as I now hold him in honour as the WORST PM we've ever had - mainly because we're STILL paying for his complete disregard of deficits and debts.
You want funny? What's really funny is that PM Harper is much, much more actually like PET, than young Turdeau is actually like his old man. Harper and PET hated the media (with good reason); shied away from the spotlight; were devout in their religious faith; and were/are more concerned with policy than image. Harper and PET are in some respects like two peas in a pod.
Young Turdeau on the other hand, LIVES for the spotlight, couldn't care less or has no policy; loves the media and they love him.

Liberal party leader Justin Trudeau attended the Assembly of First Nations annual summer meeting in Whitehorse .
Trudeau said he wasn’t there to speak to the chiefs but to listen.
Then he spoke for almost two hours on his success in bringing the Liberal Party back into the hearts of the Canadian people and how he was going to legalize marijuana and the many ways that he was going to help the First Nations.
At the conclusion of his speech, the crowd cheered wildly and then the head of the First Nations band presented him with a plaque inscribed with his new Indian name - Walking Eagle.
A very proud and pleased Justin then departed in his motorcade, waving to the crowds..
A news reporter from CBC later asked one of the Indians how they came to select the new name given to Justin Trudeau .
They explained that Walking Eagle is the name given to a bird so full of shit that it can no longer fly.

You are right, Wisen, but Assad would not have been there. A homeless family, lucky enough to have won a night in the presidential palace would have been slaughtered ( many photos)and the U.S. would be committed to ten years of terrorist attacks and the whole middle east would descend into turmoil. Oil prices would escalate. You really need to get a world view.

learning: I found your earlier comparison between Trudeau and Harper interesting and I do see a policy-driven focus as a common ground. I don't agree with the press thing. Harper doesn't just dislike the press; he dislikes everyone. Trudeau didn't dislike the press... he loved it ( as long as it didn't challenge or embarrass him). He brought Canada to the forefront in International perspective and I know this for sure as when I emigrated to Canada in 1975, everyone in the U.K. was talking about Trudeau. People, who would never have considered it before, were planning holidays in Canada.
