The number and percentage of aboriginal people who comprise the prison population is up from 14% to 23% in less than 10 years. That is an astounding fact.
I have to wonder if there is a correlation to this number and the fact that harper and his gang have been in power roughly the same time...things that make you go hmmm I wonder... and "Only in Canada you say?"

"Wisen homo" what an ass you are.
Are you going to the summit? I truly hope so...perhaps we'll "see" you there
Niigaanis 3/8/2013 4:07:34 AM Reportand before anyone cries foul...there is no threat implied to Wisen, just a legitimate question as I've lurked these gatherings once before at the Canadian just to get an idea or guest who's who...
Besides if I wanted to be there it would take me a 22 hour flight to be there, so no worries mates, have fun at your gathering.
Though it does tick me off that people like wisen continually target our women, children and elders...must be a pretty tuff fella and won't want to mess with him...
Wisenheimer 3/8/2013 6:55:37 AM ReportSounds like a profane laced threat to me.
You lurk do you?
bounder 3/8/2013 6:56:21 AM ReportHarper up there playing the guitar, meanwhile tax free day arrrives June 6,two days later than 2010 when it arrived June 4th.Now tell me he's doing a good job.Plus all the little crooks paying back money claimed in error,ya right.
Retreaded 3/8/2013 6:58:28 AM ReportWhich leader of the major parties would do a BETTER job than Harper??It is scarry when you see whats out there. Will Justin Trudeau be the saviour we so badly need? Many think so !!!
Grump 3/8/2013 6:58:29 AM ReportGood morning everyone. Niigaanis I don't agree with all the First Nation issues but you have nailed it this morning. There is a pretty nice gang at the summits but we don't get many of Harper's mouthpieces. Voice I was trying to be nice yesterday but that's over. Your last post yesterday proves beyond a doubt that Ace and you are twins. When you read something think about it instead of rushing to post your dumb garbage. Fly's post had nothing to do with drones or another right wing moron. It had to do with the Democratic system working as it should. I futher suppose that you will stand up to stop Harper putting drones in the air over Canada? Have a great day everyone.
Wisenheimer 3/8/2013 7:04:23 AM ReportAlso Nigaanis, from your comment you may have offended the gay community. You sound like a homophobic, lurking, profane, threatening poster. Have a nice day.

flyhawk25 3/8/2013 7:14:03 AM ReportGood morning.
I'm so excited about the Summit that I could not sleep.
And Grump - you beat me to the punch as it were.
When I read voice's last posting of the day I almost choked on my decaf Ovaltine last night.
He probably missed the White House's brief written response to Mr. Paul - "no".
That post from voice might be further reason to have a means test before someone can vote.
I hope his momma drops him off tomorrow and we can perform a butter knife lobotomy on him.
Then again it might be difficult to find a frontal lobe.
Wisenheimer 3/8/2013 7:15:12 AM ReportGrump, your posse includes some pretty sketchy participants. If you like what Nigaanis posted and think Eversons is "right on" I'm thinking you're in big trouble. Perhaps Justin will arrive in time to sort things out for you. Har, har.
Niigaanis 3/8/2013 7:35:43 AM ReportI think the only way I may offend the GLTB crowd would be having your name associated with them herr wisen
Niigaanis 3/8/2013 7:41:23 AM Reportand unlike one of your swamp posse I'm a professional that chooses not to post comments on here while at work...very unprofessional to be doing that, so yes I may lurk the blog during my breaks but will wait till I'm finished with business before responding to your so brave comments to our women
skipper dave 3/8/2013 7:42:38 AM ReportGood morning sweet Soo! One more sleep. Good day to visit the boat. I'll pick up the sister in law for company and we will be off. Why do I get this feeling that I should apologize for Wisen?

Niigaanis 3/8/2013 7:45:23 AM Reporthmmm as for profane laced dang didn;t realize "ass" was considered as profanity these daysbut perhaps coming from a fine upstanding cat-o-lick it could be construed that way....lmao

As for Paul and Depends - it had no inference to age or incontinence. The man stood and talked for what - 14 hours without a break?
Even a rudimentary understanding of physiology would make it simple to understand that he probably wore an adult diaper. Even astronauts and race car drivers have used them.
The bigger issue was addressed by Grump earlier - you completely missed the point.

Brianne 3/8/2013 12:56:17 PM ReportEverson, there are many eyeglass sites where you can actually upload a pic of yourself and "try on the glasses" They are legitimate and great deals, the only problem is , is that you need to get the pupilary distance from your eye doctor, as some prescriptions, like progressives etc, need to have that measurement so that the focus is in the right spot.
My son ordered two pair from clearly contacts and they were perfectly fine. He has astigmatism as well.
So check out Clearly Contacts and Firmoo as they both sell frames and lenses ( sometimes frames are free or really inexpensive).
Good luck and happy glasses shopping ( both thos sites will let you upload your pic to " try them on"

Congrats to all the ladies out there, international women's day! Without your courage we wouldn't exist. How you ladies endure that much pain is beyond me. Us males are weenies compared to you folk. My wife says try to imagine passing a bowling ball down the length of your pee pee and the crowd shouting push. I have requested sedation for a catheter much less than say 5 pin bowling ball. anabanana 3/8/2013 4:55:32 PM ReportHi everybody,
I am a little off topic too say the least.
I am hoping someone will have some helpful information, regarding; my recent diagnosis of Sugar Diabetes. I went for blood work several weeks ago.
Last week I received what seems to be a standard package from 'Algoma Diabetes Education and care program.'
I responded and was advised I had Diabetes, an appointment was arranged for me attend next week.
I was instructed to complete the paperwork in the package, and bring it with me to the appointment, I was requested to attend.
I was upset to say the least. I phoned again, and spoke with whom I thought was a Nurse. I asked several questions, and she went on to say that my Doctor had requested me attend the program as a result of blood work he had requested.
After asking several more questions, I thought we had been disconnected. I asked several times "are you still there" and she finally responded. She announced she was not one of the nurses, she and was not able answer any questions. I was wondering if anyone, has any tried and true tips for handling a diabetic diet and lifestyle.
I thought I would get a head start, by cleaning out my cupboards and visiting the Soup Kitchen with a box of unopened,
unperishables I can't use.
I visited Rome's to look through the diabetic groceries. One of their associate informed me they don't stock many diabetic groceries". All I found were cookies and candy, and I don't eat either. Should I be looking for a diabetic cook book?
Thanking you in advance, for your anticipation suggestions, tips, or help help.

mallet 3/8/2013 5:07:42 PM ReportANA...
Depends what regimine they have suggested for you... if it's just a question of weight loss and exercise thats not hard to do or so they tell you, if you are on tablets and diet that requires a little more testing and life changes, if they put you on insulin thats a different procedure altogether... what they do not explain to you what the high blood sugar does and the low blood sugar does. I cannot speak for everyone but high sugar makes me cranky and little patience with people and things, low sugar and I feel rotten no energy bad vision and a stinking headache. different for all people. The main thing is to test often and see how different things affect you. The phamacies will give you the meter but not the strips, those you have to pay for or if you have insurance get your Dr to give you a prescrition. I can not give you medical advice, but do not let this desease control you.. YOU control it!!!
Brianne 3/8/2013 5:08:08 PM ReportBitter Melon is also looked at by the diabetes association as quite a good thing for people with diabetes, depending on what kind you have. It has shown in studies that people taking Bitter Melon supplements no longer have to take insulin or medication
You've got lots of research to do girl :)
Niigaanis 3/8/2013 5:13:56 PM Reportanabanana - check with the local First Nation's health centres, they have wealth of info on diabetes as well your Dr. should be setting up an appointment with a dietitian that will help you re-adjust your diet

It's more about reducing your carb intake, striking a balance, understanding what's in the foods you eat and being more active, even just walking more. Do a search for type 2 diabetes. There is a lot of information out there. Smoking pot won't cure it!! You body has become insulin resistant...it does still make insulin but has become more resistant to it...thus your higher than normal blood glucose levels which lead to the diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.
You can avoid insulin or meds if you make some changes.
Here's a link to understanding diabetes, an online book. They (U.S.) use a different system for blood glucose...so all you have to do is divide by 18 to get the levels that the rest of the world uses.
http://tinyurl.com/3ug2qk9
I have a book that CDA use to put out for free that was extremely helpful when my son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (insulin dependent) in 2000.
There is another great site called childrenwithdiabetes. There are forums there, people with type 2 diabetes, information about type 2 diabetes, etc.
nanag 3/8/2013 5:28:55 PM ReportAnabanana
If you are being referred to Diabetes education center it is for a couple of reasons..
either you are diabetic and need counseling on proper diet/exercise and/or teaching about insulin.
OR
you are still able to get a grip on the sugar issue by education on food choices and the benefits of exercise... before your numbers increase to the point of needing insulin and /or pills
When you go in there you typically have a short education class on what is happening and why and how to address it.
if your numbers have been consistently high then you may get the insulin lesson
if you have been inching up to 6 or so they may just want to educate you to get a better understanding of what foods are better than others.
Don't stress.. that never helps.. try to sign up for label reading class too .. carbs, fiber, sugar important stuff

mallet 3/8/2013 5:45:38 PM ReportP P.And ANAB...
Hang on there a minute. I do not think that the body becomes Insulin Resistant, it is that the body no longer produces enough Insulin for the sugar intake. Now that is not the raw sugar that you put in tea or coffee but the sugar that is produced by eating food. That is why diet is so important, or so they tell you. The information I was given is that the pills (diabeta etc) just squeezes the gland that produces insulin to get that much more out, until such time as that no longer works and you have to take insulin. There are lots of studies out there some are reasonable others are just snake oil sales types, personally I go with what my Doctor gives me. I have been on Insulin now for 10plus years, I did the diet thing and ended up unable to work, I did the pill thing and ended up with ulcers, now I do the intravenous drug thing and am fine, Different strokes for different folks but the professionals that you see locally are the best souces of information.. DO NOT believe everything you read on the internet!!!
Pink Peony 3/8/2013 5:53:24 PM ReportMallet, the body becomes insulin resistant. That's why people get diagnosed with type 2...their body makes the insulin but the body becomes resistant to it. Fat is an insulin inhibitor. I'm not going to argue with you. I completely understand this disease and have done more research than you can even begin to imagine! I held my son's life in my hands until he learned to manage his type 1 diabetes on his own.
Voiceofreason 3/8/2013 6:32:12 PM ReportSpelly, it was meant to be "though." I haven't the slightest clue where you are getting "through" from...
Fly... that's the problem! It lacked clarification! Leaving loose ends like not specifying that American citizens are protected from drone attacks is careless. Not asking this would be reckless and dangerous.
Saying "Oh, its so obvious that drone attacks will never be used against innocent Americans that I won't even bother asking!" is like saying "Hitler only wanted to register guns so the people didn't have to worry about someone stealing their firearms and getting away with it."
I'm sure you also would have been one to believe that you were a Jewish person on a train to go camping.
shakespeare 3/8/2013 6:45:04 PM ReportI guess I'm a bad reader, too. It was today that rw was at Searchmont. I must have seen you amid all the spandex. People are so trussed up there that it's easy to miss a chum! Now I did see a guy skiing with a couple of plungers rather than ski poles ...
AceOfBass 3/8/2013 7:00:44 PM ReportThe taxpayers of Sault Ste Marie are about or could lose a $114,000,000 in capital assets, that is what all of us taxpayers own in the PUC. The PUC brings in $2,000,000 in annual revenue to the city's coffers.
If Hydro One takes over our PUC we will get higher costs of electric and water rates.
We will have a job loss of 58 people.
Loss of control over our utility.
Potential loss of dividend to the shareholder(city of SSM)
Loss of value of electrical assets owned by the city of SSM
Loss of achievements to control costs.
We need to keep our utility out of the hands of the Carpetbaggers at Queens Park. Sent a message to Flash Bulb Dave to keep their Liberal paws off our Utility.
lowla 3/8/2013 7:12:35 PM Reportanabanana, start with limiting your carbs...serving size is everything, and never eat a carb alone. Eat a balanced meal with a carb, protein and a healthy fat and all the non-starchy vegetables you like. If you have a glucometer test, test and test, to see how certain foods and amounts affect you. Good luck!
Brianne 3/8/2013 7:23:19 PM Report#1 Ace, I'm sure Hydro One would hire all the workers here.
#2 Prove that our hydro and power would be at a higher price, where are your facts on that.
Everyone in the soo has lost faith in our PUC, our chlorine filled water that no one can drink, and makes you itch like a bitch when you have a shower, ruins your hair etc etc.
Again, you want to make a statement like that, show us where our prices would go up...... prove, prove , prove
right wing 3/8/2013 7:38:57 PM Reportshakespeare
Plungers for poles....good one.
I saw the racers and it was a beautiful day out there.
Unfortunately I was not there for fun it was work related.
Water system needed some attention.
flyhawk25 3/8/2013 7:43:05 PM ReportBrianne...don't waste your time.
The ol' Ace is a one-trick-pony. Witness his tasteless Jewish analogy.
That twig was bent a long time ago and now that the internet has replaced the editorial letter space in the local paper he is newly empowered.
Brianne 3/8/2013 8:03:40 PM ReportI know fly, I just want him to "prove" the increase in prices that will happen......... it's going to happen anyway with our own PUC..... I'm going to have to start knitting by candlelight , and do laudry with the old washboard soon. No one better complain about the bonfires in my back yard, cause I'll be cooking on it :)
right wing 3/8/2013 8:14:47 PM Report"...... prove, prove , prove"
I assume you mean the same way that all the Harper haters and lefties prove their daily bullshit filled statements.
Funny how that "prove" stuff works for one side only.
nanag 3/8/2013 8:34:12 PM Reportall I can say to the water issue is that I am a Bi**ch but I am not itchy from showering in our "new" water. and mine tastes pretty good .. by mine I do mean the water... just to clarify bahahah
Brianne 3/8/2013 8:51:51 PM ReportSo that means you're a non itchy bitchy ? lmao
I itch and get red rashes everytime i go in the shower, and no, it's not the soap. Soon as the water gets on my skin it starts to itch and gets red, it's horrible.
So from the bitch with an itch to the bitch with no itch....... umm, huh, where was a I going with that..... dunno lol
Today happens to be the day that i want to scratch Ace's itch, or more like scratch his eyes out, grrrrrrrrr
AceOfBass 3/8/2013 9:02:04 PM ReportBrianne my water is just fine.We have the second lowest hydro rates in the Province.
Go to the PUC website and read what is there.
I don't believe anything the lying Liberals have to say.The first thing the new Premier says was an out right lie about the gas plants.1 billion dollar loss and she was partially responsible.
AceOfBass 3/8/2013 9:05:53 PM ReportFlyhawk, what have you against Jews? We are hard working law abiding people.
shakespeare 3/8/2013 9:07:14 PM Reportrw: " [Searchmont]Water system needed some attention."
No kidding! I love the place, but a lot of things need attention out there.
AceOfBass 3/8/2013 9:09:44 PM ReportBrianne have the PUC come out and check your water,to find out what is causing your itch problem.
Brianne 3/8/2013 9:19:32 PM ReportAce, it's called, i've developed an allergy to chlorine , and now take benadryl about 20 minutes before I shower.

Thank you, for all the information on Diabetes. I appreciate your taking the time, to respond to my request. I won't make any drastic changes at this time;
although will be more aware, of what I put in my mouth.
I do know for a fact, I have not taken care of my body as it relates to my diet. I don't drink or smoke, but I am a lazy cook.
I will certainly change that habit PDQ. I am a little anxious to see the the staff at the Diabetic Clinic. I am of the belief that it isn't urgent, or I would have been seen at the Clinic before now.
I watched my neighbor go for Dialisis several times a week. Sometimes he would be in the Hospital for a day or so. A knock came to the door yesterday afternoon, it was his son, I knew what he was going to say, before he opened his mouth. His Dad had passed over.
I was close to tears, I was trying to hold it together until I closed my door. It is so sad, to have to bury a parent. I noticed, the family took very good care of him. He was far to young mid 60's I think.
I will miss his smile, and easy going ways.
A reminder for me, to take better care of my self
flyhawk25 3/8/2013 9:31:17 PM ReportGood heavens.
The swamp people have their leader back.
I cannot wait for them to either show up or lurk at tomorrow's Summit.
Any bets on what it will be?
Brianne 3/8/2013 9:35:17 PM ReportAnaB........ any change for the better in your diet is a good thing. No more processed foods, will make a world of difference and possibly no meds.
Wisenheimer 3/8/2013 9:53:06 PM ReportNaagaanis you sound all better now after getting your racist comment pulled.
Live and learn Pilgrim.
shakespeare 3/8/2013 9:54:10 PM ReportAna: join the local Conservative Association. The sourness and bitterness will take away the sweetness in your life and the blood sugars will naturally lower. Acey used to have extreme sugar levels when he was fronting the Women's Rights and Gay Rights movements in the Sault. He was a sweet guy, but too sweet. So, he got a dog, became a vitriolic conservative and his levels have decreased. IA
Brianne 3/8/2013 10:40:30 PM ReportAh but shakey, all the women he insulted on National Women's Day....... whatever that is anyway....... would probably not help spend hours and gas money, etc., searching for his lost dog again.
Niigaanis 3/8/2013 10:42:42 PM Reportherr wisen i was wondering how long it was going to take you to report it to the ever vigilant moderators.....waaa waa I don't like the joke niigaanis made about white golf balls.,..I imagine you had to take out of your yap first though

nanag 3/8/2013 11:27:04 PM Reportyou have just clarified my earlier post
Niigaanis 3/8/2013 11:29:44 PM Reportthe only saving grace is that I choose not to post on here day in and day out like most and as I said earlier, I'm only responsible for what I say not what you understand and that, apparently, is not much
Niigaanis 3/8/2013 11:32:06 PM Reportquick nanag look over your shoulder your fearless leader is no where to be found..so I guess that would be pretty much a wrap for you and the posse.
It's only 2 in the afternoon for me so the fun is just beginning
nanag 3/8/2013 11:44:01 PM ReportI'm not part of the "posse" and I have no "fearless leader" on here or anywhere else...so you are wrong again
