Good morning Bounder and everyone else.

Bounder will you begone fishing today?
Looks like I won`t be getting any fish for about 2-3 weeks.
Tony`s wife said the wind moved too much ice from the shore.

Have a nice day everyone.

Darn wind, with half my laketrout I made 4 small fish cakes, it`s a good protein snack.
I still have 3 pieces of fish left.

Beautiful clear cold night ... full moon was magnificent...and each time I woke up during the night I lay there for a few minutes, before falling back to sleep, looking out the window at the "world" bathed in there anything more magical....

Oatmeal for breakfast this many people who have oatmeal on a regular basis...a) put fruit(s) in it eg, raisins, currants, apples etc. or walnuts and b)use the regular brand or something else eg. McCann's Irish, quick cooking (just add water), stove top or microwave?

Who remembers and/or still have Red River Cereal or Cream of Wheat? Growing up we had all three...I think Mom rotated the days..and Shredded wheat with hot milk poured over? To me it was like eating a bale of hay.

Watching storm progress in S. Ont and as it moves across the US....nasty, nasty... hope people will take heed ...always so gut wrenching to see multiple vehicle crashes...

Hope your back is better nanag off work or still seeing clients....?

To everyone is nice to come and chat and see old friends...Didn't thank you for the coffee yesterday you have any Kona Coffee?

Take care everyone...I'll be back later the safe.

Thanks Mallett...sounds really simple to make...

You may have started something..

I LOVE to cook, and my bride loves that I do. I have a few recipes that I could share and there are others out there that probably do as well.

One thing that I am just now beginning to discover, is crockpot/slowcooker meals. Don't know where I've been these 60+ years...I always considered that there were limitations to this type of cooking...well I was wrong..WOW !!!

celeste5 2/26/2013 11:21:04 AM Report

Pilgrim, good morning, I grew up with all those hot cereals and I loved that hay.
Hardly ever ate cold cereals and I hardly ever fed my kids that crap.
celeste5 2/26/2013 11:35:44 AM Report

Corn Meal, you didn`t eat that cereal.

Eww, Yuck, all these dieters choice breakfast and meals, Whats wrong with a good solid breekers of bacon eggs sausage home fries? If you all want to look like "Twiggy" fine, but I dont find the "Aushwitz" look very attractive myself.
Pink Peony 2/26/2013 1:43:01 PM Report

Good afternoon!

Pilgrim, I remember having those hot cereals when I was very young. I still have them and I gave them to my son while growing up too. I like my oatmeal with fruit and cinnamon.

I do "treat" myself to an artery clogging breakfast once a week or so. Just don't want to give it up for good so I figure moderation.

I'd love to see some of your recipes. I could share some too. That reminds me, I need to copy & paste the recipe Bobby gave the other day. Slow cooker is great, in my opinion.

I missed the full moon!

celeste5, During the summer, there is a spot along Mission Rd. where you can stop to have Fish & Chips. I would also order fresh caught whitefish fillets from them. Great deal and you're right, an excellent source of protein! Fish protein was a major factor in the healing of my colon issue too.

In the news, it's been confirmed that a Mediterranean diet can cut the risk of heart problems. That's been known for a while but I guess there never was an actual long term study done to confirm it until now.

Good AFternoon Red Roomies

All this talk of food...mmmmm

I enjoy oatmeal several times a week and usually cook steel cut oats. I sometimes add dried tart cherries
( which is good for arthritis) cinnamon and brown sugar.

Wondering when the storm is going to hit us. It has been extremely windy today and getting worse.

Have a great evening and remember to hug someone you love. Even if it is in thought only.

nanag 2/26/2013 5:57:26 PM Report

I just spent 4 hours sorting through my file cabinet. My back is very unhappy.. I need a good back rub .. and I'm starving.. all this talk of food.. gonna good some salmon :) :)
nanag 2/26/2013 5:59:13 PM Report

Opps!! guess I meant to say gonna go cook some salmon
Pink Peony 2/26/2013 7:02:16 PM Report

epc, that's right. You're in the storm path. Hope you don't get hit too hard! It felt damp here today.

Today was one of my favourite days and this week I get to have another favourite day on Thursday. Both days are MoW days and those days are good for the soul. A lot of brief visits with a lot of smiling.

nanag, gonna good some salmon are ya? lol Don't you just hate when the mind goes too fast and the fingers can't get it right. I had salmon for supper, and some lightly steamed green veggies and rice. Wrong kind of rice for me body reacts fairly quickly now when it objects to what I've eaten. Well, toot toot, talk to y'all later :)
nanag 2/26/2013 9:34:05 PM Report

I have really fallen off the wise folks...I'm a total teetotaler (why is this word spelled with tee instead of tea???

I have been stuffing food in my face constantly...I am almost at a point where I need an intervention. Even my sore back has not stopped me from dragging my ample ahh...ass(ets) to the kitchen and/or grocery store.

I have to get back on track kids
