skipper dave 2/15/2013 5:57:19 AM ReportGood morning sweet Soo!
Long weekend coming up to celebrate Family day. I now enjoy all the fruits of trying to survive with a modicum of serenity in a blended family. My first marriage went thru a major reorganization before the turn of the century and all for the better on both sides now that the emotional divorce has it's share of compacted dirt over it's tomb. Doesn't mean that something doesn't pop up on occasion and has to be laid to rest with a big flat shovel.
Now my grand kids are profiting from a surplus of grand parents. Blended families are more the norm today and when you can focus on leaving all the emotional baggage out of the equation they have their advantages. My two year old sweetie pie granddaughter doesn't give a rats ass on whose needs were not met in former relationships. When I can focus on that then I get along well with the whole gang. So I have a Chemo free weekend after today and I'll take a few moments to try to come up with something that expresses to my beautiful step kids and mom that we are part of a new family with new traditions and a plethora of mature caring adults to turn to. Well most days!
statusquo 2/15/2013 7:36:29 AM ReportMorning Skipper,
"My two year old sweetie pie granddaughter doesn't give a rats ass on whose needs were not met in former relationships.'
Aren't little gaffers the best? Kinda like dogs(in a good way)...totally innocent and genuine.
I remember my daughter when she was 4 or 5, and somehow heard someone mention "serial killer", she honestly thought Lucky The Leprechaun from Lucky Charms had a darker side to him then just being pissd off by folks always getting his lucky charms.
Grump 2/15/2013 7:45:36 AM ReportGood morning all, well thank goodness it's friday. It was a long tough week with too much going on. I'll have a couple of days to pretty much veg out which certainly has a lot of appeal right now. Have a great friday and weekend everyone.
RLE 2/15/2013 7:54:10 AM ReportI just realized that to survive in twenty first century Canada I have to learn another language. To see what I mean check out http://www.netlingo.com/acronyms.php
JUSTANOTHERNAME 2/15/2013 8:00:12 AM ReportWow Skipper a whole weekend without visiting the Barn, good for you. I hope you enjoy your time away!
Little ones really do make a blended family work as long as the adults act like adults. But really whose heart isn't melted by those little sweeties!
skipper dave 2/15/2013 8:59:07 AM ReportAh, another myth debunked - Status banned - Maybe just a short time out, can I start that one?
right wing 2/15/2013 10:03:16 AM ReportThis world sure is one f**ked up place.
Speaking of the little ones...there was a time when you could teach the little ones who to trust, without doubt.
Uncle Joe, the minister, their teacher, a police officer.
A teddy bear today can become an instrument to show where somebody they should have been able to trust touched them.
RCMP officer and his wife charged with child abuse, sex assault crimes and more.
Pathetic.

Under Canadian law they'll get a slap on the wrist.
What we need are Judges like this.

right wing 2/15/2013 10:17:03 AM Report...speaking of time outs.
I notice flyhawk25 has been absent.
I trust he is well.
Probably got a front row seat invite from Obama for the State of The Union mess address.
;)
theprotector 2/15/2013 10:27:56 AM ReportI thought it was inspiring
JUSTANOTHERNAME 2/15/2013 10:30:16 AM Reportright wing your are right the world is a screwed up place but it really always has been. Many of the charges coming to light now are from years gone by when children were taught it was ok to trust Ministers, Police, etc. For years many of these crimes were pushed into dark places as dirty little secrets. Unfortunately there is still very little consequence for taking a child's innocence from them.
right wing 2/15/2013 10:34:55 AM Report...you think your morning dump is inspiring.
Big Bad Bob 2/15/2013 10:35:54 AM ReportInspiring or not, President Obama's State of the Union address was the business of the United States and its citizens.
right wing 2/15/2013 10:37:08 AM ReportJUSTANOTHERNAME
I agree this is not something new.
Just a gut feeling but I believe it increased as many societal morals went into the toilet.
right wing 2/15/2013 10:38:39 AM ReportThat's why it was broadcast around the world.
You probably could have watched in France at the corner Pub while you enjoyed a plate of deep fried frog legs....
cathyh 2/15/2013 11:07:28 AM Reportjustanothername: I agree with you. In the "good old days" people in positions of trust were never questioned. It was complete trust on the part of parents and children. Fortunately social media has made it easier to ferret out the perps and I also believe that the general population of Canada is better educated and are asking more questions and are willing to dig deeper into incidents.
Brianne 2/15/2013 11:34:48 AM ReportWelcome to meteor day.......... so far Russia has had meteorites crash into buildings and frozen lakes
"The rocks crashed at around 9:20am local time, mainly over the sparsely populated city of Chelyabinsk, 900 miles east of Moscow. 20,000 rescue workers have been sent to aid recovery efforts, with the full extent of the damage not yet known. Windows were smashed and buildings were devastated, including the 6,000 square feet roof of a zinc factory, as some residents feared “doomsday” had arrived.
The main chunk of the meteor fell into a frozen lake, creating a huge hole in the ice. Experts are still undecided whether the event was caused by a meteor shower or a single meteor, as well as whether the damage was caused by the shock wave or actual debris, although residents reported fireballs crashing to the ground."

some great videos here as well

Reports are also that Cuba has been hit with meteorites.

skipper dave 2/15/2013 11:41:33 AM Reportya notice Brianne that the meteorite chunks are only hitting pinko communist countries? Who says Christ is dead. Kill a Commie for christ.
Brianne 2/15/2013 11:55:01 AM ReportHuh ?
Oldie Goldie 2/15/2013 12:46:32 PM ReportSkipper Dave--Many of your postings are good reading but you really messed up with " Kill a Commie for Christ "
I hope you were only joking !
theprotector 2/15/2013 1:05:39 PM Reportof course it is, reminds me of the things you post and that they are going where they belong.
BIG BROTHER 2/15/2013 1:27:06 PM ReportThe nurse was found to be not guilty of assault. Interesting!!
BIG BROTHER 2/15/2013 1:28:28 PM ReportOr, I should say....the charge was dismissed!!
old-cat33 2/15/2013 1:55:29 PM ReportBrianne: WoW I watched that meteorite and that must have been scary to see up close? It would have been nice to see that at night.
P.S, I'm waiting for my little mitts ...Please....:)
Hey what the hell does that stand for anyway? P.S, I mean?
Skipper: That can't be your comment?
redranger 2/15/2013 2:17:41 PM Reportrumours have it that the PSW who blew the whistle on the nurse has been branded a troublemaker and dismissed.
Nurses have a strong union...PSW's have not.
Brianne 2/15/2013 2:29:37 PM ReportOld cat...... so sorry, been working so much lately......... and getting my knitting/crochet shop set up on etsy ! Anyhow, will get them done next week, off 3 days...... promise !
P.S. means, post script ( afterthought added to your message )
skipper dave 2/15/2013 2:50:09 PM ReportFor those old enough (Kill a commie for Christ) was a tongue and cheek slogan that came out of the Anti-Vietnam protest songs of the sixties.
mallet 2/15/2013 3:11:52 PM Report I see the Veterans have won their lawsuit against the Government regarding their vet benefits were deducted from their Long term disability. As this started back in the middle seventies, this is another bill the present government has to pay for faulty liberal decisions. I guess all governments leave things for the next one to put right, but on just a billion dollars thats a little extra we all have to pay, those that pay tax of course...
learningaswego 2/15/2013 4:03:03 PM Report"the present government has to pay for"....
which of course is really - current tax paying Canadians.
shakespeare 2/15/2013 4:22:24 PM ReportI agree with your anguished sentiment about the world rw, but also agree with cathyh, that there has been no change in people. There have been sick police officers, teachers, ministers forever, but things just got ignored or brushed under the carpet. Morality has not changed. If you read your "true" history Victorian England was not prim and proper. It was a seething mass of corruption and perversion disguised by a veneer of manners.
Glad to see so many sports players are "coming out" and before somebody speaks of homosexuality being on the rise, no it isn't.
One fascinating hypothesis I heard on the radio today is that the sharp reduction in violent crime from the early 90s onward in most industrialized western cities (e.g. 75% in 20 years in NYC) "may" be attributable to the movement to unleaded gas in 1970s. Go figure! ... a very interesting argument as to why.
Brianne 2/15/2013 4:24:59 PM ReportThe page takes a moment to load, but these are all the meteorite/fireball sightings today

realitycheck 2/15/2013 4:29:12 PM Reportrumours have it that the PSW who blew the whistle on the nurse has been branded a troublemaker and dismissed."
redranger:
Ever think of dealing in facts instead of rumours? Passing on rumours is ridiculous. The person who was dismissed was the nurse who was charged and now acquitted of those charges. She is the one who should get her job back.
shakespeare 2/15/2013 4:33:31 PM ReportGoodness, gracious, great balls of fire!
Grump 2/15/2013 4:52:12 PM ReportStatus, I'm home now and can not resist any longer " UN ". No I'll give you a break as I owe you one. Have a great weekend.
Wicket 2/15/2013 5:56:39 PM ReportSo, the owners of the Dorans site have 30 days to remove the burnt building which was coming down within the next few months anyway. Now, I would call this discrimination of some sort.
What about the rat/pigeon infested eyesore that burned years ago at the corner of John St and Cathcart; what about the house that looks like it is totally demolished with a shell standing on Korah Rd.; Gloucester and Cathcart house that burned more than two years ago - who makes the decision to leave these standing and a fire of one week that involved arson, has left a building that now has to be removed within 30 days~!!!!!!!!!!
Any insight into this before I send this to the Fire Chief, Police Chief, Fratesi, mayor and all the councillors???
skipper dave 2/15/2013 6:37:18 PM ReportWicket - This one order of demo maybe a tool by the city to see if anyone's home on the project or are we dancing with shadows much like the development of our gateway site?
shakespeare 2/15/2013 6:37:33 PM Reportstats: did a brisk two and a half hour Xcountry ski today and came back with endorphins ready to rock and roll and chose a few of your faves. If Darlene is a little deflated tonight try this on her from the band who is still rockin all over the world.

redranger 2/15/2013 6:47:59 PM Reportrealitycheck check your facts It was not a rumour but a fact according to co-workers of the psw whom I did not wish to mention
Wicket 2/15/2013 7:24:13 PM Reportskipper dave - good point, but at the same time, if they are going to issue that order to them, they had better also do it for the rest, otherwise - hmmmm special favours for locals, who knows?
AceOfBass 2/15/2013 7:28:47 PM ReportThe Liberals and the NDP have always screwed the Veterans and military.
It was the Liberals supported by the NDP who forced the division of Military pensions to ex spouses who never served a day.
Then it was the claw-back on military pensions when OAS kicks in.
It was the Liberals who Unified the forces and tried to take away the traditions of the RCN,RCAF,and the Canadian Army.
They put them in ridiculous green uniforms which to this day is never mentioned as it is seen as a dark period of Military history.
Veterans and Military members should never ever vote Liberal or NDP because of these slap in the face to the honorable members of our Army,RCN,RCAF.
realitycheck 2/15/2013 8:24:12 PM Report"rumours have it that the PSW who blew the whistle on the nurse . . . "
redranger:
Is this not your quote that says rumours? And you now say it is not a rumour. Which is it? We know the nurse was fired. That was in the stories about the trial so my facts are straight on that point. I didn't mention the PSW as I have no knowledge what, if anything, happened to her. My quarrel with your original comment was the term rumours. Why did you use that term if it was indeed, as you now state, a fact.
redranger 2/15/2013 8:35:08 PM Report..to get reactions from sanctimonious twits
Brianne 2/15/2013 8:36:34 PM ReportSeems there is quite the declining enrollment posting in here lately. WOnder why ?
I've finally gotten the "picture" , you've made it perfectly clear.
Have at er Skipper, mallet and shakey..... pretty soon it will only be you three on here.
Old cat.... I'll message on here when they are ready :)
EricThe SHERIFF 2/15/2013 9:31:08 PM ReportWhat was the name of the company that used to use the slag from Algoma Steel?
realitycheck 2/15/2013 9:39:50 PM Report"to get reactions from sanctimonious twits"
In other words, your comments are not to be believed.
skipper dave 2/15/2013 9:53:33 PM ReportEric we talking Perpich or farther back, Algoma contractors?
EricThe SHERIFF 2/15/2013 10:02:47 PM ReportDave,
Maybe Algoma Contractors, although that doesn't sound quite right.
From 1962 and on.
