Mr. Poster 2/2/2013 6:25:30 AM Report2nd up...heading SOUTH for the weekend.
skipper dave 2/2/2013 7:25:44 AM ReportGood morning sweet Soo!
Third up have enough money to stay in town.
And had my last of thirty radiation treatments yesterday. Those nice folks gave me a certificate and a round of applause and told me not to come back. Now we continue with Chemo.
Different topic I may and it's the result of a request by one of the contributors of this site to meet one on one. My deepest apologies and believe me it's not about you it's my own code of conduct. There are people on this blog whom I've met at a Summit or we knew each other outside this group whom sitting down to have a coffee would be a delight (again, another rule, the boys stick with the boys and the girls with the girls. I am a happily married man married to a beautiful wife and would not dream of playing with her insecurities nor her with mine.) I have very strong boundaries when it comes to allowing strangers into my life. it's a process driven by again family. I have young vulnerable teens who still require me to circle the herd at night. So come to the next summit make a point of shaking my hand (As Fly says - eye to eye, knees to knees) I'm easy to recognize and easier to talk to. I am very open on this site because it is cathartic for me. Also I do share of myself but first I must feel safe. It's a process not an event. Also Spelly whether he remembers it or not was the first to invite me into the Hilton Beach bible belt crowd then Fly and Last but not least Status and I shared a very dear friend that we did not know about, my wife. So I hope this clears up the reason my response has been so slow. I had to give it some thought and not just blurt out the first thing that falls off this tongue. Wonder if our ice fisherman likes the Ice capades - I go to spy at the girls bums. That is considered a winter sport right?
statusquo 2/2/2013 8:38:19 AM ReportMorning skipper,
I am glad to hear you made it through the microwave stage. Say?...just wondering ...do any of your "parts" glow in the dark?
Now I guess it's up to the missus to feed you properly, follow her advice or else!.... as I told her before she has my permission to beat you with a stick!
After all, what we put into our mouths can have long lasting repercussions for our well-being.
Speaking of health, T-rat posted a very good video yesterday, to the point and very informative.
So you like looking at girls bums eh?
I have to tell you, last summer when I stopped by to say hi in my skin tight spandex outfit I could not help but feeling a bit violated by your drooling gaze...I know you don't swing that way and neither am I, although truth be told, it would double our chances of getting laid, the expereince left me a tad scarred, nervous and yet strangely flattered. But that is something I need to discuss with my therapist and it is not a topic befitting a public forum.
Grump 2/2/2013 8:51:16 AM ReportGood morning everyone and all you fellows of course. A nice sunny day and seems to be warming up a little. ( 9 below a while ago when I checked ). Take care all and have a great day.
skipper dave 2/2/2013 9:20:05 AM ReportStatus any wonder you are so damn likeable! Your one sick little puppy with character traits so like my own. I think the misses is onto me and accuses me of spending way too much time fondling the pears. I've already revealed that my boat with the canoe stern and sharp tumble home very much is a turn on for me. Maybe we could get a discount on "joint" counselling?
Speaking of shopping do you prefer english cucumber, zucchini or standard cukes or should that be a question directed towards Darlene? I do know I vacate the kitchen when the wife starts to slice the cucumber with the biggest knife we have, I'm rather intimidated.
old-cat33 2/2/2013 9:23:15 AM ReportGood day everyone. Try to get out and support a Bon Soo Winter Carnival event this year .I know I will.
Skipper Dave: Nice to read your words of wisdom every day even though you're in dry dock for a while repairs.
Another store closing in our fair city so might as well check out some savings at the Zellers Closing out Sale today I guess.
Maybe that's where the Target store will be going? That shopping Plaza for some reason has a rough time keeping it's big name tenants?
Now that damn little rodent will see his shadow to day and hibernate for another 6 weeks!!!

gcubed 2/2/2013 9:55:12 AM ReportThanks to Old Cat for reminding me of today being Groundhog Day. The point of it all is rather moot in Northern Ontario, because I don't ever recall winter being over in less than six weeks from this date!
right wing 2/2/2013 10:37:25 AM ReportGroundhog’s day.
Great movie starring Bill Murray.
I hate the groundhog, annoying burrowing little creature.
1. Country-Style Groundhog (road kill or fresh kill will do)
Invite the whole family for this one.
Ingredients:
1. 7 individual groundhogs
2. ½ cup flour
3. ¼ tsp. salt
4. ¼ tsp. pepper
5. ¼ tsp. soda
6. ¼ c. cooking oil
7. ½ tsp. sugar
8. 7 cans miller beer
9. 1 cup vodka
Instructions:
Prepare groundhog by removing the marks on the back and under the forearms caused by the tire.
If fresh kill remove any remaining lead pellets.
Soak groundhog overnight in salted water and cup of vodka (if it's "tub" night for the family bring em on in). This will help remove the gamey flavor (from the groundhogs).
Combine flour, salt, pepper, and soda; use as a rub on the groundhog (if cooking on a Saturday night double up these ingredients, some for the Mrs.).
Ram one can of Miller beer up each groundhogs....make sure tab has been pulled.
If the "ladies" are cooking watch out for high stacked hairdo's getting caught in kitchen ceiling fan.
Brown the groundhog in hot oil in the skillet, and sprinkle with sugar. Reduce heat, add 1 ½ cup water. Cover, simmer for about 30 minutes or until tender.
Remove cover and cans of beer.
Give cans of beer to cousin Billy-Bob. Let cook for an additional 10 minutes.
Serve while still hot.
right wing 2/2/2013 10:43:10 AM Report...and in giving credit where credit is due.
Grump e-mailed this to me, said it was right out of his families most cherished cookbook, handed down from Grandma Gingy.
;)
T-rat 2/2/2013 10:44:51 AM ReportStats....give the 23 and 1/2 hours a try. I shaved another 58 seconds off yesterday's time and sweating for a purpose does feel good. I don't recommend walking outside in this weather but if you don't own a treadmill or a Y membership, try the Essar or the Bushplane Museum for some indoor strolls. I'm aiming for the 10 minute mile and I haven't moved that fast since somebody yelled 'last call'.
skipper dave 2/2/2013 10:59:57 AM ReportAh T-rat I can attest to the fact that Status has the heart and lungs of a Shirpa guide. His idea of fun is going to the beach way up north than sprinting up the mile hill on the way back on his light weight racing bike. Now not wanting to be accused of violating his personal space but I'd bet there's not much extra body fat on this young man, in spandex.

LAD 2/2/2013 11:37:12 AM ReportSo the federal government spent around 28 million for the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. They say it was because it is "an underappreciated piece of Canadian history."
They should spend 28 million to EDUCATE Canadians about FIRST NATIONS which is in reality "AN UNDERAPPRECIATED PIECE OF CANADIAN HISTORY."
T-rat 2/2/2013 11:59:32 AM ReportWell Skipper, obviously I made an assumption.....and a wrong one about Stats. I can only aspire to have the heart and lungs of a Sherpa, or a Stats. Even then, I won't be jogging up the Mile Hill....and Spandex on me is definitely out! I really am taken though with this new program that my doc got me on. For the first time in a long time I'm walking a mile 'in my own shoes'.

skipper dave 2/2/2013 12:31:15 PM ReportTen thousand comedians out of work and I got RW doing hair humour. If your already bald "Are" does that mean it works in reverse?
I do have a T-shirt made up and no it's not my original quote but I loved it. "Change is good, you go first". My next one will be the Woody Allen quote "I don't get angry, I grow tumours".
By the way thanks guys for all the encouragement, especially from some whom I have crossed the line and had to apologize to (rw) now I can blame it on Chemo Brain. Can't the rest of you just feel the love in the room or is it because it's that Goddamn rodent's day to cast his prognosis on the rest of the winter. We should get on board and get a rodent (rat) of our own for the Sault, possibly Brianne could be persuaded to give us one of hers. We could name it Phallus Maximus Grande Cojones? Yank the little pecker head out of his hole once a year to coincide with the polar bear swim throw him in the river and see if he survives? Then on with the ice dip? Oh yes if he manages to crawl out on the ice then yes winter will continue for six weeks and if he sinks below the ice then sadly winter will be six weeks longer.
Brianne 2/2/2013 12:43:29 PM Reportlol Skipper, they're all gone now, i sent them packing to the party house next door ;)
right wing 2/2/2013 12:55:55 PM Reportskipper dave
Yes, didn't you know...it does work in reverse...in a few weeks your are going to have a chia-head.
(and no that's not sex with a Mexican hooker)
right wing 2/2/2013 12:56:55 PM Report...sh*t I did the your/you're thingy...
Sorry Sir Spelly.
skipper dave 2/2/2013 1:08:07 PM ReportT-rat don't underrate yourself. The only thing that Status has over us is his youth, good looks, intelligence and the physical conditioning of a Lance Armstrong sans drugs. That's it that's all he has got! Sad case really, reminds me of a humming bird on crack - can't sit still for the life of himself. When he dropped over last summer and he knows our door is always open to him I was sitting on the tractor ready to tackle the back forty. He said he didn't want to hold me up so he ran beside me and talked in a normal breath for two and half hours then jumped on his terrific light racing bike and headed out to Gros Cap for an hours cruise. What a guy! After he left the misses came out and asked who the smoking hot bod in spandex belonged to, when I told her it was Status she muttered something about levi baggy mechanic's outfits not doing any justice. Me I'll stick to the ice capades and drowned rats.
skipper dave 2/2/2013 1:10:23 PM Reportrw is that the same as the bald spot filling in with pubic hair? Jeez.
Bad Dawg 2/2/2013 1:12:31 PM ReportI got a couple T shirts made for my sister when she was in her fight...

Status is HOT??? Gee I need to upgrade my vision of him. I was thinking he was just a good ole boy mechanical type with a bit of a belly getting in the way when he rolled under a vehicle on one of those creeper thingys.
Now I have a vision of him all hot and sweaty from riding in his spandex working on my car with his mechanic's tool(s) ..... holy crap.... somebody open a window

Big Bad Bob 2/2/2013 2:03:14 PM ReportLAD
Having just signed on to this site today, I’d say that your post is the best or at least the most topical I’ve read so far today. I would only add that, once certain individuals have learned a bit about Canada’s First Nations and their rights, which are enshrined specifically in our Constitution , they would also do well to realize that Canada and the United States are not only two different countries, their laws, political systems, respective histories and culture are substantially different in many respects.
OrlandoFlorida 2/2/2013 2:06:37 PM ReportSo the new premier has endorsed the OLG Modernization plan aka Privatization of OLG. David O might as well cancel his one on one with Wynne this week, she has already publicly tanked any hope of saving those jobs staying in the Sault.
With the layoffs at Tenaris, Essar up in the air, and OLG jobs going to be privatized and most likely leaving for southern Ontario, the Sault is on the steady decline to become the next retirement town of Northern Ontario, way to go Liberals!

right wing 2/2/2013 2:52:13 PM ReportYep the Sault is in bad shape, I can tell from all the expansion, new subdivisions, infrastructure, new business openings.
Dam shame.....
Grump 2/2/2013 3:09:36 PM ReportWell if we are looking for more topical issues and First Nations were mentioned here goes. I just watched a news cast from CBC on the Glooscap reserve who have some the highest paid chiefs and Band Managers in Canada, This Reserve has 304 members, the Chief is paid 243,000.00 tax free dollars per year which she defends due to all her hard work. The Band Manager makes 978,000.00 tax free dollars per year but the Chief defends that saying much of that is for contracting for the Band. I guess conflict of interest means nothing there. Councillors make 200,000.00 plus per year. This is for a population of a lot less than Echo Bay. Somehow these salaries don't equate but I guess they have found a better way to tap the Canadian taxpayer. I for one am getting damn sick of our government's and the First Nation's mismanagement and sense of entitlement.
right wing 2/2/2013 3:11:54 PM ReportRead that one also Grump.

Grump 2/2/2013 6:40:15 PM ReportRE various troops. I had a friend in Saudi who had been in Special Forces in Nam. He admitted they had done some bad things but also admitted that it was a damn good thing that the Brits and the French had troops who were trained to deal with the really tough stuff. That was because troops from the west were not trained to take care of the heavy lifting. Things may well have changed since then but I know it was French paratroppers that took the New Prophet and his crew out of Mecca (late 70's or early 80's)
Spellchecker 2/2/2013 7:08:09 PM ReportThat high Dow number is just the result of all that new fiat looking for a home. It just means that it is now overvalued and probably due for a fall soon. Having been married to one at one time, I am allowed to say that, and yes, that is how get togethers were, women in the kitchen, men in living room and never the twain shall meet, unless of course, they wanted some food or drink and then we could enter the room and serve them! Nah, just kidding, it wasn't that bad, but close.
