bounder 1/18/2013 2:46:40 AM ReportRise and shine, nice day coming.Good morning,or should I say good night.
skipper dave 1/18/2013 7:06:28 AM ReportGood morning sweet Soo! Good morning Bounder!
All is well out in third line west. My spouse and step kids spent a hectic eve packing for their trip to London to support her sister and her husband who is suffering from ALS. May the snow gods show mercy and the boys of I-75 be on top of their game. I tried to convince her to take the suv, it is equipped with studded snows but they are illegal in Michigan. I don't buy gas in the US but have been guilty of ignoring their highway laws when the roads are snow packed and icy. Thing is if the customs area is bare, sneaking up on them is nigh impossible. The sound is like cats claws sliding down a tin roof. I have told her to plead ignorance and give it a shot (catlick upbringing) but she's a good Baptist girl so it's the soccer Mom van with all seasonal's and a quick stop in to see Status for a quick once over.
Besides I am trying to think like her - Let's see a quick pit stop at Costco and a swing over to Ikea. No brainer. Seven passenger soccer mom van of course and you dummy it has a bigger gas tank, jeez why didn't I think of that. I will look after the home front, still attached to the umbilical chord at the SAH. Special heart felt thanks for my neighbour down the street who comes down on his open air tractor to blow my driveway when I'm up at the Barn. And more beautiful friends who have temporarily taken my brace of maltese sled dogs into their home while I focus on what's in front of me interspersed with naps. Let's have atter!
nanag 1/18/2013 7:24:34 AM ReportGood Morning Skipper Dave and all the sleepy heads
Skipper I pray to the highway god's all the time. My son travels from Sudbury every second Friday to the Soo area to pick up his girls and turns right around and goes right back to Sudbury to have his weekend with them ,then two days later, he makes the same trip to return them to their mom.. he does this every second weekend without fail. I am very proud of his commitment but it is hard on the nerves.
I must say .. I am a bit jealous of your sweety going to Costco and Ikea.. hope she loads up the soccor mom van
Have a great Friday everyone
Grace 1/18/2013 7:27:43 AM ReportLooks like the tax man in the U.S. has it in for married people.
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/top-earners-set-pay-most-050001996.html
25miller 1/18/2013 9:22:45 AM ReportNot really. They are talking about the ones that make over $200,000 per year..Not the average couples.
right wing 1/18/2013 10:05:06 AM ReportIt would be great if all these tax increases were going to actually make a difference in the U.S. financial struggles but the way the spending is out of control it won't do squat.
Sad, but it does make the persecutors of the "rich" feel better I suppose.
Forget sad it's pathetic.
redranger 1/18/2013 10:36:24 AM ReportGood Morning Skipper.
Are you in one of those lovely
$ 1 000 000 mansions on 3rd line W ?
Just kidding. If you email me your address (macwilli@algomau.ca), I can always check your yard, etc for things that shouldn't be there. I am on 3rd line W. frequently
learningaswego 1/18/2013 10:36:42 AM ReportYou nailed it, rw.
Without DEEP spending cuts, the US is, um, f___ed!
Therefore, barring some unexpected sea change in the Dems way of thinking, with Obie Hope and Changey at the helm, the US is, um, royaly f___ed!
The "tax the rich" thing plays well with the masses, but does not affect the bottom line. Rather it's nothing but window dressing playing on emotions, which is all the lefty politicians usually care about.
As long as it "feels good", that's what counts to them.
Poor friggin' America.
bounder 1/18/2013 10:46:58 AM ReportJust like sex, as long as it feels good, nobody worries about the consequences, till later, as what's hapenning in the USA.
bounder 1/18/2013 10:54:54 AM ReportThe Soo Trailblazers have an add in classifieds, should be in another section under anouncements, lets see if if the Soo to-day is biased.I had one removed for the same thing, should have been in another section, as I was told by e-mail,and warned.
itsky123 1/18/2013 12:08:25 PM Reportjust came up by Rankin..road blocks in place again
Seen about 8 cop cars and their big emergency truck
highway1 1/18/2013 12:27:47 PM ReportBlockade will end at 1pm.
flyhawk25 1/18/2013 1:02:12 PM ReportGolly. Another politico stepped in it today.
This time it's Jim Flaherty - lending his name and cred to an FM station application in his home riding.
Come now.
He's a hack. Small timer in a big boy world.
Notwithstanding the fact that he's screwed up in both federal and provincial politics that boyo is bullet-proof.
The PM will bail him out. He'll soon join the Rob Ford flatulent farm and take a golden parachute to an adviser's job somewhere.
He doesn't even do graft well.
steelworker 1/18/2013 1:51:56 PM ReportHe probably only read part of the Liberal play book.
redranger 1/18/2013 1:59:18 PM ReportWent out to clear the 120' of driveway.
Hopped on riding snowblower and drove out of garage. Engaged the impeller..belt jumped off pulley and tangled itself in the innards of the snowblower. Why does it only do this if it sees a big amount of snow ahead of it. Naturally every shop that could fix it is backed up to February. I shall go out and kick it and swear at it...maybe it will fix itself
theprotector 1/18/2013 2:08:44 PM ReportWHAT A JOKE
Hayes had nothing to do with the sub-contract China Steel got...hell they are 3 companies removed. How the hell can hayes take credit for that?? While his party's cut backs lead to the losing of over 500,000 names and personal information and Hayes lets dozens of well paying federal jobs leave this community. What an ass!!
steelworker 1/18/2013 2:15:08 PM ReportHayes only read part of the NDP play book. You know the part about "find a parade and get in front of it".
flyhawk25 1/18/2013 2:34:39 PM ReportJimbo Flaherty should have taken lessons on corruption from former New Orleans' mayor Ray Nagin.
He was the mayor during Hurricane Katrina and the clean-up.
He was indicted today on 30 counts of corruption.Lovely.
Go big or go home Jimmy.
Sheesh...
learningaswego 1/18/2013 3:33:19 PM ReportA much more fitting comparison would be the New Orleans goof to some aboriginal chiefs.
skipper dave 1/18/2013 3:51:46 PM Reportred ranger - Call Clarence Bibeau and drop my name.
learningaswego 1/18/2013 4:16:18 PM Reportthe comparison is good, except that, in the US, the government actually gets to prosecute the crooks.
steelworker 1/18/2013 4:22:58 PM ReportForget Jim Flaherty. It appears that obummers' VP put both of his feet in his pearly white yap claiming that he was golfing near the Amish school shooting a few years back. He said he clearly heard the shots although the golf club has no record of him being there and it is situated 5 miles away from the school. Poor Biden-senility is truly a bitch kitty.
redranger 1/18/2013 4:38:47 PM ReportThanks Dave ..I had a few Bibeaus in my classes over the years.
mallet 1/18/2013 5:02:37 PM ReportRedranger...
Best to always keep a spare belt or two...If they have to come out, it takes less time for the snow to melt than for them to actually make it out...
...
skipper dave 1/18/2013 5:14:02 PM ReportRed ranger thanks for the offer of the yard check but this is farm country and your as likely to get chased by a big bull, coyotes a horny goat that lives next door or a pet rooster I wouldn't mind getting a contract on the be whacked. Wonder if my buddy Status has a recipe for rhode island cock?
northernmale 1/18/2013 5:59:09 PM Reportafter all this time it hit me today . there are two difrent groups of first nations people protesting One is the group iddle no more, they are protesting to protect are waters, good for them You I suport. The other is the larger group by far they are in the group called Idle forever, those I do not suport.. I think I am not alone on this
mallet 1/18/2013 7:10:10 PM ReportNorthernmale...
Actually I am confused as to wether it's a crusade, or a job fair, as far as the title goes!!!
flyhawk25 1/18/2013 7:32:06 PM Reportnorthernmale...you have nailed my dilemma.
But isn't it like any large group of us?
I think that I need to reflect on the whole complex picture and try to sort out what effect this will have in the long term.
Thank you - this was an 'aha moment'.
northernmale 1/18/2013 8:13:17 PM ReportFly Hawk .. I was with them until the chiefs got on board and decided to make it about past,The best thing it took five ladys out west to give it a name, then the ciefs jumped on the name and made it about everything else.. The sadest being when Chief Spence tied it to her protest.I think a lot of us agrea with protecting our waters. We should all rember future genarations will rely on it also.
redranger 1/18/2013 8:50:32 PM ReportWe have been reading the signs all wrong
It says "Idle, no more movement" . So nothing has changed.
