Good morning sweet Soo!
I watched in great detail defence minister Mckay answering to the press on the auditor generals new price tag for the F-35. The smug smirk of not answering the question directly and repeating the phrase we are in RESET. There js only one solution that would untie my bloomers. I need a dirty, stinky sweaty high school gym sock for each of the following: Harper, McKay, Clement and Orazoonie. Notice how bipartisan I am.
For the next few day my beloved city please be gentle and don;t drink and drive my little 38 year old red head is home visiting her Dad and friends.
nanag 12/13/2012 7:16:07 AM Report

Skipper Dave

I hope you get your knickers untied so you can enjoy your visit. Knotted drawers are uncomfortable especially in the male regions I would think.

I for one promise to NOT drink and drive so your "little redhead" will be safe on the road .... at least from me. :) Tea is my drink of choice.

Enjoy your visit

Good morning everyone.. have a great day

Just give me a moment...................
There,"I'm one blink away from being fully awake,my light was on".

it also spoke of danger,
hurry pack up and flee.
All before my morning pee.

Canada AM is doing a big spread on a shipping and sorting facility this we get our parcels.
Maybe, just maybe they should concentrate on a news story that's worthwile.
Like how come a Chinese mining company is bringing in 60 new miners from China this week and more to come.
We have qualified miners who have applied for the same jobs, and where turned down. They are also building huge living facilities for the Chinese workers. They have been given two year work permits.
This all taking place in Nothern BC.
Thanks Canada for a slap in the face.

Good Morning, Guess what! The highways are closed South of Wawa due to a collision involving a dynamite truck! Kinda crazy weather we are having here its 0 and raining like crazy and supposed to turn to snow! Stay safe everyone and have a great day!
Mr. Poster 12/13/2012 8:56:53 AM Report

Peter MacKay is way over his head in his portfolio. Harper treats him like the golden boy of politics. It is really time for a cabinet shuffle so we can start complaining about a few new people.
Why do we need so MANY aircraft? Would 10 not be sufficient? It is not like Canada is a world powerhouse engaging in many battles.
flyhawk25 12/13/2012 9:12:13 AM Report

Mr need to go federal.
Why do we need a state of the art/war swat vehicle in our city?
Dreamer 12/13/2012 9:15:55 AM Report

It's a great day to Protest! Who's all going?
Mr. Poster 12/13/2012 9:30:37 AM Report you know how much that swat machine cost? I suspect a few police officers could have been hired for the money spent on that machine.
skipper dave 12/13/2012 9:42:25 AM Report

How many canned goods "Are Dubya" for the soup kitchen? What's a fully armed swat truck go for these days? Maybe it has some use in rounding up the young girls who sell their bodies for dope?
Mr. Poster 12/13/2012 9:50:54 AM Report

The recent flyer from B.Hayes talks about how safe the CONS are making it for us lowly taxpayers. I guess they forgot about tainted meat from Alberta.
realitycheck 12/13/2012 10:52:21 AM Report

Why do we need a state of the art/war swat vehicle in our city?

Would you deny our police this equipment? It may not be required all that often but denying our police the capability to employ it would be like denying the fire service a ladder truck.
Wisenheimer 12/13/2012 11:24:58 AM Report

Fortunate that many of the posters on here are not in any position to effect important decisions. Can you imagine!
Rage on.
skipper dave 12/13/2012 11:34:53 AM Report

Reality cheque - Are you saying our fire department doesn't have ladders for their trucks? Jeez I didn't know that.

Skipper Dave: You are really fortunate to have a redheaded daughter. Do you know how few there are? Have a good day.

Guesswho - I saw some customs uniforms but clowns? Do you mean like clarabell or am I dating myself? How much respect would a guy dressed as a clown get at the border? Just one of those days.
Wisenheimer 12/13/2012 1:19:07 PM Report

Avoid 2nd line and GNR .. intersection blocked by protesters, who believe pissing off residents, travelers and businesses gets them sympathy.
Bad Dawg 12/13/2012 1:21:17 PM Report

they justify the spending on the swat truck because of the crimes in The Soo... armed stand-offs,robberies, and the theft of guns. Yes, they need more officers to deal with the idiots that beat their wives and molest kids.
Oldie Goldie 12/13/2012 1:27:12 PM Report

I did not read anyone asking this question----so I will ask it !

Why do the Canadian Armed Forces need F-35 Stealth Fighter Jets ? Who are we fighting ?
steelworker 12/13/2012 1:34:46 PM Report

I don't see anyone complaining about all the money Darth Chretien spent on his DeathStar. On another note: who the hell is protesting today on 2nd Line??
Wisenheimer 12/13/2012 1:45:37 PM Report

OG .. Like the CF18s in Libya, the Raptors will be used to kick the crap out of Islamist extremists bent on killing as many Westerners as possible. You'll need the jets to be state of the art. You're welcome.
flyhawk25 12/13/2012 1:52:05 PM Report

That would be 'the undeclared war' that Canadians do not want to be part of using aircraft we can't afford?
steelworker 12/13/2012 1:55:06 PM Report

C-130 (Puff the Magic Dragon) with some daisy cutters to rock the casbah. Way cheaper than fighter jets.
Truck 12/13/2012 1:57:31 PM Report

haha Wisen we do not need a fleet of F-35's. We've all been lied to about the cost, anyone who claimed the cost would be higher was villified by the Harper government for the last 2 years! Harper is cutting jobs left right and centre....all the while spending Billions on jets that will see more training time than combating "enemies". This money could have been spent much more wisely!
mallet 12/13/2012 1:59:35 PM Report

Oldie Goldie...

"Who are we fighting"? Well no-one at the moment, but did you forget we sent fighters to Libya to enforce the "No FLY Zone" and bombed them back to the bronze age. They don't want to do the same in Syria because the Syrians have a fairly modern air defence systems that whould cause us a little embrassment as the aging F18's don't have that stealth technology, but were able to take care of Ghadafi's aging airforce.

I just wonder what all our and allied politicians think of the situations now in all those "Arab Spring" countries, has it worked out as they wished, or do they think that promoting democracy in other countries has been worth the bloodshed that they have caused??

And while I am ranting, how about the killer cardiologist who stabbed his kids 46 times getting out free after 46 months in the nut house. Guess thats the price now 1 stab equals 1 month in jail, sorri nut house. Thats the new defence for killers, "Not criminally responsible" to go along with "not responsible due to alcohol/drugs". Just who the heck is responsible today???
flyhawk25 12/13/2012 2:10:01 PM Report

mallet...Stephen Harper.
I'm just not certain he's sane.
learningaswego 12/13/2012 2:34:00 PM Report

It takes years to get jets, ships, or other defense craft built and delivered from when you first order it.
You don't just decide to "get some jets" and then they arrive next week.
Who we are "fighting" or not - right now, has no bearing on the matter.
Canada has a small military, compared - in relative terms, to most of our NATO allies. Although we would and could rely heavily on the US or others if needed, we still have to pull our weight - also called "show up", to be part of it. If we were entirely on our own, we'd have to spend hundreds of billions MORE, to have the level of protection we could need.
So for Canada to buy a few jets, considering the level of protection we would get from others if needed, would be considered a "bargain" - from any rational viewpoint.
mallet 12/13/2012 2:44:10 PM Report

He is sane in some of his thinking but a little weak in others, but there again are we not all that way. A fair number of people say we should punish offenders, others say we should re-hab them, some say we need fighter jets, some say not but all say not at that price. Some say that when you come to Canada you should live like the people here, others say the multicultural idea is the best. Some say government is too big and Harper is right to downsize it, others say he is wrong and causing un-employment. It all depends on your point of view, I happen to agree with a fair amount of what he does, but not all, you say he is wrong on everything, where is Bounder when you need him...
Budster 12/13/2012 2:45:39 PM Report

The military and their tools of craft is like insurance, you hope you don't need it, but if you need it and don't have it you will be up that well known creek without propulsion.
The other option is isolationism which we know doesn't work.
shakespeare 12/13/2012 2:49:58 PM Report

Just got a call from a very concerned technician with a very heavy Asian accent from Windows telling me that there was something wrong with my computer and he would like to help me fix it. I said, "You're one of those scammers aren't you?" "Oh, no, I am from Windows" I hung up, but I noticed that this time there was a number which showed on my call display. It was 714 999 9103. I googled the number and came up with a phone in Anaheim, California. Very interesting!
steelworker 12/13/2012 3:12:05 PM Report

If you let them into your computer they will download some crap program and then charge you a fee to remove it.
Oldie Goldie 12/13/2012 3:30:31 PM Report

Weisenheimer---Our little Military force---even with good equipment---could not stand up against most Nations if we ever needed to defend our Country against them---If you talk about us helping the U.N. or N.A.T.O. we still cannot make much of a difference world-wide.
We would be far better off to remain a peaceful country and hope that the U.S.
would help us out if we needed help against terrorists.

If we continue to help fight other nations like Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, Egypt and Afghanistan sooner or later we will make enemies and we would need a lot more armed forces and equipment than we can afford.

Most other nations in the world could walk all over us if they so decided but if they had to get past the get to us then they would think twice about it.

Dear city of SSMarie...i just want to know if the by-law enforcement officers work at Bellevue Park? i've gone to Bellevue Park three times this week with my dog. I have him on the leash...but pretty much everyone else there does not leash their dog, and i have even been in a confrontation with a man who refused to leash his two fairly good sized dogs , both of which were all over my dog...I leave their feeling shaken and upset.,..i don't think i should have to defend myself when people, including this particular gentlemen (using term loosely..he told me to f off, flipped me the bird, and told me that i am stupid for bringing my dog to Bellevue Park in the first place)
I have pictures to prove the bberry!
Am i the only person who thinks that when a sign is posted at the walkway along Bellevue Park , which clearly says that all dogs are to be leashed, that it means exactly that? Or did i miss the gray area that states are allowed to actually have your dogs offleash in Bellevue Park, and that the sign that is posted should read "it is OPTIONAL...the by-laws of this city are actually guess i'll withold my taxes until this is all sorted out...i mean...optional to pay my taxes maybe too?

I'm afraid you are dealing with Wisen. Much like rw and Learning, anything Stevie is just peachy. Actually, MacKay and Stevie get a testosterone pump when they sit in the 'big plane'. MacKay was drooling in the photo of him sitting in the big jet. And tripping over himself to call the naysayers unpatriotic.

I was living in New Brunswick when Premier Hatfield (AKA: Tricky Dicky) was buying the Delorean car from none other than John Delorean himself. Hatfield was made infamous by a photo op of him sitting in the car, grinning from ear to ear, all while fully aware that the car was destined for the scrap heap right after the next election, which he so badly wanted to win. He kept sinking money into the car, propping it up to get past the upcoming election. Delorean was just as aware of Hatfield's vulnerable position and capitalized on it big time, hiring his wife as CEO and daughter as another exec. Point is, these guys are more about their egos than about Canada's well being.
shakespeare 12/13/2012 4:31:32 PM Report

Brianne, that sounds like a pretty big dog!

I was in American Samoa, a very small island, a few years ago and they have a real dog problem. It seems that every paradise has its catch. It's a beautiful island but packs of dogs run wild. Apparently, half of the injuries on the island are from dog bites. It seems that nobody does anything about it.

Congrats to Wisen for his earlier correct use of "effect"
mallet 12/13/2012 4:35:11 PM Report

Big Brother...

Remember those "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune" are the reasons for those inflated egos, how else would you survive otherwise. After all what else have you left when sense and logic has deserted you, all you have left is your ego...I cannot myself say something and mean nothing as do all these politicians. It is so easy to critize them not knowing all the other things they have to do however, especially when no-one else can come up with a solution for the problem..

BIG BROTHER 12/13/2012 4:54:07 PM Report

You are so right about the ego thing. I can respect a healthy ego. It is an important characteristic. When it is fragile and gets in the way of proper decorum or sound decision making, then we are in trouble. The examples are right across the ideological lines also. Chretien had a fragile ego and it got the better of him many times. But he had the ability to laugh at himself also, a trait that seems lacking among the neo-cons running the show today. These fellows aren't the old progressive conservative party. They were spawned out of the Reform movement and destroyed any PC's who may have had a more moderate approach. And they seem to be acting out of spite; an 'I'll do it because I can' attitude.
Grump 12/13/2012 5:01:24 PM Report

When I first arrived in Saudi there were packs of wild dogs hanging around the edge of built up areas. The police would go out and plink away at them once in a while when they had bullets and when the were not being lazy. This didn't do much but when they brought in workers from the Far East (no country named) the dogs poulation declined rapidly. You have to remember meat was fairly expensive over there. lol. Just back from Pembroke a couple of hours ago and tired of driving. Have a great evening.
dlbrown 12/13/2012 5:26:37 PM Report

Dear Brianne...i do believe you nailed it...your description of the fellow fits quite nicely..thank you...
i have recently adopted a beautiful doggie from the Humane Society...i have wanted to take him out and show him off...and see how he does out in the world....he's been so patient with me....and i've been patient with him...i get worried about big dogs running towards him when he's on a leash and the other dogs aren't....There were definitely raised hackles and scarey moments for both of us...And today, the 'gentleman ' in question pushed me to the limit....When you call me stupid for even bringing my dog to this park in the first place....and tell me to f off....and flip me off...and refuse to leash the dogs that are all over my dog...walk away in complete denial that i have a right to be there with my dog...Well...that's it....i needed to take to the dialogue option that offers...This particular fellow didn't even appear to have leashes with him! take care

Yes, if that's who i think it is, he's been going there for years...... why......... when he owns a huge lot on out 3rd line. And yes, his dogs have always been aggressive and he likes to egg them on to other dogs " to see what they are made of" . I stopped taking mine there 3 years ago because of that person and his aggressive dogs. Last time i was there his one dog.... the husky type had blood all over his mouth.........
