Yippee .. I'm the early bird

Good Morning Everybody

Have a great day and be safe

Positive thoughts to you Skipper Dave!!!

nanag you be carefull with that 1999. When you start rubbing up against and crawling all over something that young be sure not to hurt it. LMAO

How disconcerting that our SENATORS have to be investigated for possible fraud. Some apparently are claiming they have principal residences out side Ottawa that would qualify them for money on top of their huge salary. IT IS TIME TO ABLOISH THIS CASH COW.
right wing 12/7/2012 8:15:22 AM Report

I agree and lets abolish it too.
right wing 12/7/2012 8:28:08 AM Report

Young Trudeau is learning that it is hard to run in "flip flops".
See yesterdays Star.
Hilarious, and he wants to be king.
Members of his own party are starting to look at him sideways.
Good luck getting that top spot with the liberal party.
Perhaps remembering what position you took yesterday might help.

BIG BROTHER 12/7/2012 8:33:52 AM Report

Maybe Trudeau should take Van Loan out behind the barn and tune him up. What a buffoon Van Loan is. Typical bully tactic; one of the many the cons use.

Time for Junior to put his big boy pants on and to be tough.

Trudeau is quickly running out of feet to put in his own mouth.
Maybe he should take himself behind the barn....
flyhawk25 12/7/2012 8:52:34 AM Report

right wing...it's beginning to sound like you are about to predict Trudeau's demise.
Good.
I'll rest easier knowing that you haven't picked a winner in this century.
right wing 12/7/2012 8:58:42 AM Report

I assume Big Bro is referring to the words that flew in the commons yesterday.
Van Loan apologized.
It was about this time last year that Justin Trudeau was forced to apologize for calling Environment Minister Peter Kent a "piece of s--t" in the Commons.
I guess the cons don't have an exclusive when it comes to being a buffoon with a typical bully tactic.
right wing 12/7/2012 9:01:57 AM Report

Flyhawk, you remind me of a kid that takes his favorite marble from his pocket and gleefully looks at the light through it.
Yes we all know that Obama won both times.
I guess you forgot about Harper and the conservatives getting the majority.
Shall I go back to the archives to remind you what was said then.
Grump 12/7/2012 9:45:31 AM Report

I was undecided about Trudeau but now that rw has made a call and the Tories are unleashing their attack adds so soon make him a safe bet for me. He may be young and he may or may not use flip flops but I'm sure Harper knows that Justin can take him out without working up a sweat. That would be the same as the tough guy Tory Senator. I do agree with you on the Senate, clean them to hell out as most are just pigs at the trough
25miller 12/7/2012 9:46:03 AM Report

Lets see what happens to that city bus driver...
djjazz09 12/7/2012 10:14:36 AM Report

Just lucky for the city that no one on the bus was injured or killed. How can this driver pass her bus certification with a known medical problem?
This needs to be investigated so it does not happen again.
old-cat33 12/7/2012 10:15:01 AM Report

The person will probably still remain with the city just moved to another department. (strong union)

Watched the Greyhound game on Channel 10 last night and it seemed that they played with a little bit more zip?

You can tell that you're getting old when the politicians are younger than you!

flyhawk25 12/7/2012 10:40:46 AM Report

To dismiss that bus accident's long term effect on the driver's career as someone who will be protected by a "strong union" is foolish.
It speaks to a lack of knowledge of the facts and is a stupid knee jerk reaction.
Neither the city nor the union would wish to endanger anyone.
To use the event as a platform for union bashing speaks to the typical radical mindset of many neo-cons.
A shameful suggestion.
bounder 12/7/2012 10:47:28 AM Report

FLYHAWK.
You are absolutely correct and spot on.

The province has committed nearly $7 million to help the community, including:

@djjazz

And you know this was a pre-existing , " known " health problem ..... how ?
Prevost 12/7/2012 11:21:32 AM Report

It's a winning scenario with trudeau lite taking over the libs. This will give him 3 years or more to establish himself as the country's leading buffoon, but it shouldn't take nearly that long. It looks like both the libs and ndp will both be irrelevant because of leadership selection, thus ensuring a stable government indefinitely.

One never knows when one is going to pass out, faint, lose consciousness, whatever term you wish to use. I have no pre-medical disposition to cause me to pass out and subsequent tests revealed nothing. Two years ago, standing on the edge of my deck, I suddenly found myself layng on the ground screaming in pain. Do not know how I got there and have no recollection of leaving the deck (over the stairs, by the way). No history of any episodes of blacking out, no tumour, no malfunctioning physical pieces, but we all have an electrical system and there are sometimes klitches, some serious causing death and others,.....well...

I just red with intrest of a driver charged with drinking and driving on St Joe Island. When stopped by the OPP he said I am guilty, they ask of what he said drinking, he was given road side test and failed and lost his licence .. When a young man was killed by a driver in the soo he told officers he had been had been drinking he was not even given a road side test??? The reason given as he told officers he had a couple beers and they felt he ws not drunk quess there a two sets of laws . One for the city police and there friends and one for the OPP who did there job.

Do some of you schlubs really believe there was an evil bus driver cruising recklessly around the city just waiting for her pre-condition to kick in so she could wipe out innocent by-standers?

December 21st can't come quick enough for some of you.
BIG BROTHER 12/7/2012 12:52:29 PM Report

'This will give him 3 years or more to establish himself as the country's leading buffoon'

It would take a lifetime to out-buffoon Harper and the gang.
flyhawk25 12/7/2012 1:23:57 PM Report

BB...relax and exhale slowly.
We both know the cyclic nature of politics.
Certainly JT is no messiah. But he is very 'electable'. As this drama plays out we can expect the Harper fan club to saber rattle and belittle every and all things Trudeau.
I think many Canadians are tired of being jerked around by politicians of all stripes and parties. Expect to read responses here about how any criticism of Harper is generated by the left wing media and that Trudeau is just a puppet for the lazy socialist union leaders intent on building power. They will predict doom and gloom if the forces of Big Business are not allowed to make the rules and maximize profits. After all - they are creating McJobs here and will sell off their work offshore in order to do so.
Trudeau can dazzle these clowns in both official languages and convince Canadians that selling our natural resources is not in our long term best interests.
He may be the real thing but you can expect that he'll be surrounded by some sleaze bags because - they are politicians.
Check out the disciples.Their boss may have been cool but he had some shady mopes in his posse too.
The difference between a messiah and a cult leader is relative. to where you sit.
Grump 12/7/2012 1:24:54 PM Report

Big Brother they want to call someone a buffoon but they turn around and worship one of the biggest free spending buffoons we have had the misfortune to get stuck with. The 15 Billion dollar F-35's are now 40 Billion and they are still likely to go up more. Now this is the strong hands on the economy and they can't even negotiate a air plane purchase. If these folks were in the private sector they would have been sacked long ago. I wonder who got promissed what on that deal?
Big Bad Bob 12/7/2012 1:31:13 PM Report

It’s amusing to see how the knives are out for Trudeau’s tad. Is this the electorate’s revenge for allowing his Daddy to play with our country like a toy for the better part of fourteen years? For my own part, I don’t consider that Justin should be required more than anyone else to pay for the sins of his old man, if such is the case.

All we need is for ROB FORD to run federally....perish the thought.
I really like Marc Garneau. The guy I would like to see as a PM is DAVID JOHNSTON...now there is a class act.
flyhawk25 12/7/2012 1:52:12 PM Report

Mr. Johnson is too old, too smart and too wise to even consider such a thing.
He has no motivation to consider anything so frustrating and so silly.
Garneau may in fact be a good choice.
Whatever transpires let's hope that our politicians learn from the US that debating the leadership choices for months weakens a party not strengthens it.
It's one thing for your enemies to say nasty things about you - your family should not.
Nunavut 12/7/2012 3:06:22 PM Report

Well Grumpy if I read this right from CBC reports over past year. The 65 jet initial purchase was going to be 16 billion based on no on going maintenance . Then it was 25 billion if you add in maintenance, fuel, pilots and replacement of downed jets that might occur in the 20 years of life they estimated the jets would be good for. Now they are thinking the jets might be good for thirty years and so the purchase and maintenance ,fuel and pilots and replacement of downed jets that might occur in the 30 years of life they estimate at 30-40 billion.

Quite frankly all that seems to change as how soon the planes might need to be replaced and how long you amortize the wages of pilots and mechanics and since Liberals tend to keep helicopters like the SeaKings until they fall out of the sky, then the Government and Consultants maybe realized they better add in keeping these planes in the air until 30 years. Since Liberals are likely to be back in power with their flash in the pan whiz kid teacher Trudeau in a few years. So at a billion or two a year, to have 65 good jets and pilots available to Canada for 30 years seems like not a bad deal.
It could be 25 billion if we would agree to replace them at 20 years , heck it could be 15 billion if we agreed to replace them after a dozen years. It seems to me it is all just media and opposition deciding how to get a bigger number in the media, and ignore how long the fuel and pilots etc is actually amortized over and how many jets you estimate will be shot down and need replacing. The longer you push out the date the bigger the number you get.
Heck if I purchased a car that way (over 30 years) then my $20,000 Hyundai would actually cost $75,000 because I would need to replace it every 8 years and the gas and maintenance over the 30 years could be $100,000 by then and then a part time driver at ? $10,000 a year so actually my car purchase in 2012 was $475,000 ………..I can see the Liberal headlines now …. I was a dunce to spend $475,000 on a compact Hyundai.I guess the liberals would just lie to us sort of like they did the gun registry and tell us five years later what it really cost.
mallet 12/7/2012 4:01:46 PM Report

Grump...

I seem to have heard that the government is going to go shopping for a better deal on the replacements for the F18 jets we have now. Seems they have had second thoughts about the price, so is that a good or bad thing?? Are you saying now they should stay with paying the 40 billion or that they should do what your party did when they went shopping for helicopters a few years back??? You do remember that don't you??? the Liberal government signed a deal for some new helicopters and then paid a good price to get out of the deal.. I wonder who benifited from that little faux pas?? I am conservative with a small "c" and I am not above critising them when they screw up, especially with any form of armaments, there are only so many suppliers and if you want their products you have to pay the price they want or you don't get it, and you want to try and sue an American firm in America.. good luck!!
66cherokee 12/7/2012 4:07:09 PM Report

In today's paper, I see that the Education Minister doesn't have the ball to stand behind Bill 115. The teachers in 2 areas are going to go on a one day strike, it's a strike however you look at it. Of course they will be paid for the day off, but what about the parents that have to look for daycare. A lot of them just barely get by, but not so for the teachers. If you work minimum wage, and there are a lot of people out there who do, you make gross $22,568/year. Now compare that with teachers who after 12 years make $90,000 to $93,000/year. It would take both mom & dad to work 2 jobs, 40 hours per week to make $90,272 GROSS. The teachers are well paid. So what if they lose some sick leave. I did when I worked full time. This was cut down to 6 days a year. Teachers get 21, and if they don't use them, it accumulates and then they are paid out when they retire. We, as taxpayers, pay that amount to them.
And to top it off Dalton McGuinty says they will not pay for any daycare costs.
I don't have kids going to school, and that's a good thing. Parents and students are being hijacked by both the teachers and the Liberals. Teachers preach about bullies, well they have become bullies themselves.
Grump 12/7/2012 4:12:04 PM Report

Nunavut the Tories should hire you to make up excuses. The opposition were told total cost of 16 billion which is now 40 billion and growing, Now stop being gullible or at least don't embarass your self by spouting McKay's bs publically
Grump 12/7/2012 4:19:42 PM Report

Mallet this whole deal has been more about bsing the public about the true costs right from the beginning. If we need them or not is another question. The Liberal helicopter deal was a ball up but I don't remember the Liberals throwing bs numbers around to justify after the fact.

"Great news...Harper just sold Nexen Oil to the Chinese Government. I wonder if he had to sweeten the deal and throw in Lake Superior."

No need to sweeten it.It's like a sugar rush for our Chinese friends. Does Harper know they are still considered a communist country with an atrocious human rights record? I am privy to some reports (I have "connections")that in order to make the deal the Chinese had to agree to take the "Duck" and "steelworker". The evidence is overwhelming.

On another note....I have the urge to sign up for "twitter" and/or "facebook".
I want to be "twitted" and I want to be "faced". I need to get "with the times" or "with it".... as it were.
I am falling behind and have no way of relaying to all my friends when my next bowel movement is going to happen.
I feel so un-connected and it must stop!

I was also considering an earring and a tattoo....I am not a pirate and I didn't even play one on TV... yet!

And now for something completely different..
The on and off and on again deal about the F35 fighter jet.
I am somewhat of an aeronautics buff and I have been following this story for quite a while now.
The F35 is an amazing weapons system. Ultra expensive but for first strike, surprise attacks nothing can beat it. Except the F 22, but the Americans won't sell that one.
It is however utterly incompatible for the Canadian military, it was designed for the U.S Navy and when fully loaded is no longer stealth. It is a single engined aircraft, with low range capabilities, inadequate top speed and not very maneuverable and ultra complicated to operate and maintain.
The F 18 Super Hornet is far more suited for arctic surveillance and it's reliability has been proven as it is based on the old F 18 platform. A platform that has proven itself over and over to be ultra reliable and effective.
The Europeans have bailed out, the Australians have bailed out but somehow our government still thinks it's keen to take a Ferrari to get wieners at food basics.

"rw as minister of propaganda"

"nanag as minister of health"

and because I feel like giving..you can pick your department...

And of course "moi"... the Supreme leader and demi god , fanned by eunuchs and fed grapes by voluptuous , randy damsels..laying lazily on a couch and watching "Glee" and re-runs of "Kitchen Nightmares" and "Jersey Shore".
