Good Morning Kids

I have my cup of tea in hand, my big girl panties are pulled up, I have a sparkle in my eye, and a smile on my face...
Yep I am ready to face Monday..
Bring it on :)

Have a great day

Grump 11/19/2012 7:29:22 AM Report

Good morning everyone, have a great day all. Ace as usual I forgot to dumb it down to your level. Algoma U and Sault College are cash cows for the Sault. The good salaries paid to the staff who in turn are taxpayers here. The spending here by out of town and out of country students at our local businesses. In simple terms without these schools your taxes would be a hell of a lot higher or you would be doing with a lot less. In the future Ace ask me to dumb it down for you.

Good morning sweet Soo!

Day four of the "Are Dubya" blood transfusion and so far no side effects. "What the hell you looking at Fly"?
There have been some positive spin offs. I now have an overwhelming urge to issue some folks on here a new and improved fundamental orifice. Witness yesterday's uncalled for attack by myself on poor Jay-Pee. Obviously thru no fault of his own is severely limited by a two word vocabulary. Hey Stat's what's you got for Duck recipes?
Grump 11/19/2012 8:57:39 AM Report

Good morning Skipper, I don't think that juice could have been from rw as you still have a sense of humour. Glad to see you on the mend and back with us. I was looking for a good duck recipe myself the other day but can't figure out how to get rid of the frog taste. LMAO

Come on guys, quit feeding the troll, and don't, for one minute think this is a youngster, I know people in their forties that will still do anything for attention even taking it away from their children.
And Jean-Paul, Grumpy has been and still is in a very viable/profitable business for the number of years he professes. I wish I had his money - lol, however, as most of us, would not want to work the long hours nor as hard as he does.
And Jean-Paul, I know two men by that name and both of them have egos the size of Canada and think they are God's gift - from your posts, I think you might be one of them. Your quack-quack does not bother me as I just scroll, but your attacks and name calling does...

Christmas music and Black-Friday adds. I am sick of the commercialism and the tacky decorations especially those inflatable ones. Tacky Tacky like pink flamingos. What happened to the Spirit of Christmas? The warmth of each others company, laughter and deep belly laughs of an uncle who dipped too much into the egg-nog. Instead we have McWallyrama displaying their cheap Chinese junk in every isle, nook and cranny.

Someone who quacks does not bother me much.However half truths, stupid rants, bad grammar and worse manners make my teeth ache.
There has been an encyclopedia of stupid regurgitated Foxisms on here that have since disappeared like the dodo bird.
Just a short list to recall:
-Obama is not really an American citizen;
-he is a communist/marxist/socialist bent on overtaking the Real America;
-he did not win a clear mandate;
-Romney would have saved the US economy;
-global warming is a fallacy;
-everyone who voted for Obama got a free gift;
-the US has a right to fight wars wherever it wishes;
-homosexuals cannot form loving monogamous lifelong relationships and should not share spousal privileges;
-women's rights are best left to men to adjudicate;
-God can only be found in Christian churches;
-marijuana is a gateway drug to other things;
-immigration will lead to perdition;
-poor people are lazy;
-rich people are always right,altruistic and all-knowing since God chose them to lead us;
-only democracy will save the world.
And that's just the short list. So quack away - it just rolls off my beak.

I am seeing more and more ads for radon detection. Is radon gas really a problem in Sault Ste Marie? It also would be interesting to know if the houses that they claim tested high, had granite counters or not. I understand that they can be quite high in radio activity.

I don't comment on here much, although I often read the stuff. First of all, grump, don't you get it? Everytime you say anything to the Quacker, no matter how logical, smart, insulting, threatening, demeening anything at all, he shows that he's beaten you, it's not a face to face thing, he can hide behind a keyboard and write what he wants, but everytime you rise to the bait, he's reinforced, he must be feeling really good today, considering all the attention he's got. If nobody responded to him, he'd go away soon.
I think he has mental health issues just like that other poster whose not a round any more.

trevone: I'd be really interested to find out the history behind your moniker. I do, however, agree with your point. It seems that Grump never learns and so increasingly, day after day, we get these ridiculous exchanges. Grump: would you waste all your time arguing on the blog with a petulant five year old who was not quite "with it"? Everytime you take him on, you are bringing yourself to his level. I think he's a person with a fragile mental condition, who has been bullied in the past and has been given the power of anonymous cyber revenge. Why do you waste your time? IGNORE! IGNORE! IGNORE!

Wicket...interesting comment.
First off - I'm the guy who came up with the idea of 'the summit'.
It was born from my problem with the anonymous sniping in here. Simply stated - if you want to shoot your mouth off - do it to my face.
That has evolved personally for me to gain and value friendships with some disparate political/philosophical people like Spelly.
And I can't remember if/when we ever got into some political discourse.
The point is that we are all drawn to the common narrative venue for all of our own needs.
shakespeare 11/19/2012 7:19:43 PM Report

Stats: my first thought is Riverview and, if it is, I wish him the best. There is a possibility , too, that the rw trip to the mountain has inspired, bluesy, too. Now rw didn't come back in a better mood but I think that with a friend, things could work out better. Bluessy's been missing for a week and I think that he's been setting up the tent and campsite so that rw (who has been missing today) can return to Brokeback with the hope of a renewed sense of, let's say, reaching fulfillment in the end, after a long hard election.
Wicket 11/19/2012 7:25:50 PM Report

Flyhawk, don't know how to interpret your words "interesting comment". I thought I spoke the facts as they were and yes, I knew about the Summit organization, a few being held that I was unable to attend on a Saturday when some of the original Red Roomies did go. Because of the integration of the groups socially, I asked about having the Christmas get together including both groups (last year) - the Red Roomies having already done this on a few occasions. I have been pleased to have met you and several others as a result of this, both at my home and at the Canadian. I hope that we are able to continue in this vein and am very cognizant of not stepping on the toes of any of the original Summit Group (which I believe was only men).
flyhawk25 11/19/2012 7:47:14 PM Report

Actually the original meeting happened to include one very shy and nervous lady from the Island.
Dutch Touch is a charming woman who endured our testosterone-laden ramblings.
This is not a 'closed event' any more than this site is.
Sadly on here it is becoming a limited venue.
That is my perception of the dynamic.
What is yours?
Wicket 11/19/2012 7:57:25 PM Report

Ah yes, I remember Dutch Touch attending that meeting and then a couple of others went to one at Wacky Wings - Lake St., and Pink Peony very nervously attended the one at the Legion; having not met any of us. And from there, we just joyfully joined together and have had some very wonderful conversations (in person, which I prefer). Unfortunately, the bulk of the original posters have left the building. I know not whether they lurk or not. We used to get over 200 comments per day in the Red Room, but alas, since Facebook, they and their owners have disappeared.
Spellchecker 11/19/2012 8:02:11 PM Report

Wicket, I had a good laugh the first time I noticed you appear in the red room of old. You came in expressing relief in the escape from the goings on in here. Those were the days, LOL.

Oh hi Spelly, yes I sure was beaten down in those days; guess there have always been nasties on here.

Yes shakey, I mentioned Iran in several postings in the past, March 19, 2011, March 26, 2011, and October 24 of that year, to name a few. You can see them in the archives if you are really interested. I shall refrain though from delving into those areas for the present until I consider the time to be right. I don't need the vituperations of a certain poster on this site.
Prevost 11/19/2012 8:12:12 PM Report

grump, you are telling me I don't know what I am talking about? You are shooting from the lip regarding legislation that I am part of. shakespeare 11/19/2012 8:22:21 PM Report

Spelly: you really do keep good records. What I am 'seriously' asking is your take on where this Israel/Palestine thing is leading. No
"vituperations" on my part. I am not actually in disagreement with some of your prognostications, although I question their Prophetic source, but I do see a kind of 'Endgame' being played out and it doesn't look good. Egypt could be the key player here.
shakespeare 11/19/2012 8:24:17 PM Report

... that is if Egypt remains somewhat secular!
Spellchecker 11/19/2012 8:44:17 PM Report

Shakey, I really don't want to get into this but I will give it one more post.
Iran, Iraq. Egypt, Libya, and Ethiopia (sorry BBB, they'll be there too) will end up in alliance. Other Mideastern states, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Jordan, and Syria (yes, the alliance between Syria and Iran will be broken) will band together in fear of Iran and its cohorts and ally with the coming cohesion of some European nations led by Germany. I can't predict what will happen in the short term between Hamas and Israel, but as the United States continues to neglect its obligations as an ally to Israel, Israel will turn to Germany for support. That will backfire on them in the end. That's all for now folks. I'm outta here until further notice.

Oh, one more thing. Egypt will not remain secular. The Muslim Brotherhood have already taken over there as some of us foretold when Mubarak was overthrown.

You sound tired and disillusioned and ready to quit sootoday, spelly. Hope you're O.K.

I'm fine shakey, just through with the "prognostications". If I feel I can contribute something of value I'll be here.

Spelly, despite my 'occasional' scepticism and teasing, I really do value your perspective on things. Having studied history both formally and informally, I find it fascinating taking a step or two back from the world and seeing it from above ... seeing the Middle East and Europe and North Korea and China and the U.S. and India and South America. Anyone who thinks the game is only in the U.S. or Canada needs to open their doors. Canada is a very appetizing opportunity for many outside investments. Our government needs to be very careful in terms of what it is willing to give up to foreign investment.
Trudeau's press release was smart, I think.

Spellchecker and Shakespeare...

Ah, the good old Middle East raises it's ugly head again, why the so called super powers just don't nuc the area, I do know, Oil. They have been fighting there since the time of Christ, and I doubt very much if it will stop in this millenium! Why people have to fight over something that cannot be seen, touched,smelled,heard or tasted I haven't the foggest idea, unless it's just something to do, to relieve lifes boredom. I think most people knew this was going to happen sooner or later, when the "friendly" dictators were removed, just didn't seem to be understood by all our western top politicians, unless this was a way to get fuller employment up and running selling arms and ammunition. I actually wrote to the three top guys, advising them against their stances, but to no avail, just polite notes to say they had received my Emails. Hope they can start to see their foolishness now, but I doubt that...

Funny how the memory is.
I seem to remember that spellchecker and I were going to meet as he invited me to meet with him in Hilton.
Then flyhawk25 chimed in that he would also like to join.
Dutch Touch showed up as well.
So I believe it was actually spellchecker that started the first original "summit" for the blue room.
Not that it matters who started what.
But hey, if flyhawk wants to be "the guy" who am I to ruin his limelight.....

;)

I try not to say too much on here because I am not good at competing with you folks and all your political speaking But ... having said that .... one thing I do get out of your conversations is new words like... "vituperations" I don't absorb much political stuff but I do like new words

Thanks Spellchecker :)

Hey Javaman, isn't everything in life all about 'personal stuff'?
Even the political debates and religious comments are all about an individual's 'personal' viewpoint.
So, guess SooToday should just shut down all comment forums as even under the individual news headlines, the comments made are 'personal' opinions.
Maybe you just don't speak/talk to/with anyone otherwise you would be seen as being 'personal'.

Prevost/Gump HALIFAX, May 1, 2012 /CNW/ - After over five years of legal struggle, Canada's disabled veterans received a favourable decision from the Federal Court of Canada in their class action lawsuit against the Government of Canada. "This has been a very difficult experience for Canada's disable veterans on a personal, emotional and financial level," said Mr. Manuge. "The Government of Canada has been illegally taking advantage of Canada's disabled veterans for far too long. Today's decision by the Federal Court provides hope for Canada's disabled veterans."
The Government of Canada has a moral, ethical and now a legal obligation to move quickly to implement this Federal Court decision.
"This ruling is a signal for the Government of Canada to stop illegally taking money away from Canada's disabled veterans and stop any legal action against disabled veterans who cannot afford to hand over more money," said Mr. Driscoll. "This is the time to start treating Canada's veterans with the honour and dignity they deserve."

On Oct.10th Veterans Affairs is ending clawbacks for two more types of income support benefits, in the wake of last spring's federal court decision that said the federal government shouldn't be deducting from veterans' long-term disability benefits when they also receive a disability pension.
Veterans Affairs Minister Steven Blaney announced Wednesday that effective immediately, veterans will no longer have the amount of their earnings loss benefit and their Canadian Forces Income Support benefit reduced because they're also receiving a disability pension.

Awww Nanag.... it's not a competition per say...... Everyone knows what they know, some people know nothing, but some they think they know everything....... it's all good...... makes the world go 'round, square, lopsided :)

Post what you know, and believe in! Some will question, others will disagree. The main thing is, if you stay true to "yourself" and what you believe in, stand up tall and chin up and don't falter on your beliefs, you can only gain respect from that.

Don't feel that you "don't know" anything.... especially that political stuff ( it's all a game anyway). Throw your own twist into it.... it's easy to sway these guys once in a while !

Or better yet, throw them a "raspberry" once in a while :)* lol

Hang in there girl !

Good for Manzo. At least one councillor understands that taxpayer money, in light of rising energy costs,is not to be doled out as gifts .
