I try to do my part and purchase items made in Canada. If more people did that possibly it would reverse the trend.

How about we wait a few days and see if the president-elect decides to start an investigation into Benghazi.
If Mr.Obama is re-elected it will end up on the ash heap of conspiracy theories, Rush will scream until his adenoids fall out and life will go on.

The fanatical Muslim Brotherhood is getting a stranglehold there, as predicted by myself and certain others in this room after the "Arab Spring". Radical Muslim Winter has definitely arrived there as they cozy up closer to the head of the terrorist snake, Iran. My Silver Wheaton is doing okay though. I wonder what calamity is about to befall them.

Why is it that quite a few of you on this site don't believe that Canadians can run their own natural resources and make a profit for their investors? Harper is a god to big business, that's a given, but he also is a prime minister and should be looking out for the well being of all Canadians. Selling off our best assets to the Chinese government to my mind is not in our best interests as Canadians.

Had all three from time to time. Made a little on each. Even had Guyana, Ken W's whipping boy and made a little there. Not too much luck lately with Centamin and Agnico-Eagle although it has come back lately. Took a loss the other day on it though for end of year tax loss purposes. Probably about to re-enter Goldcorp for a while.

“It is useless to hold a person to anything he says while he's in love, drunk, or running for office.” (Shirley MacLaine)
As for anyone who won’t be voting in that election, I’d say “Hope for the best and mind your own business, which for me means monitor the Canadian political leaders who will have responsibility for dealing with the winner.”

Has anyone else drove up peoples road and seen what vandels have done to the finnsh church.Some idiots have spray painted garbage all over the outside walls of the building. Grace, it is a shame and I have many fond memories, but I can truly understand both sides here.
My initial thought is that these people can form a non-profit, purchase it, and run it!
Better yet, the Y and Rotary can donate the facility for a $1 under the same coneditions that were imposed long ago. We'll see how long that would last. Upfront, the complainers wouldn't even have to put their money where there mouths are, just time, but in time, the $$$ will start flowing out the door and we'll be back to where we are. At least the Y and Rotary would save face....if it isn't too late.

The YMCA and Rotary have no interest in keeping RYTAC alive. They only want the money from the property. That is why you will never see it passed on to another trustee for the $1 they paid out for it. It was nice to see Grace bring the matter up. No one else on this site sure seemed to care. Actually Cathyh, corporations do not invest money at the behest of gov't bureaucrats. Until our biggest customer(the U.S.)decides on a course of action most companies will sit on their hands in regards to hiring. Get yourself a bunch of good Canadian dividend paying stocks and sit back and watch the action.

Actually, rw, I was going to include that Darwin pivotal quotation in the original post but I couldn't be bothered to go back and find it ... but yes, it was significant. What is interesting is that just as the the Copernican revolution was rejected by the Ptolemy followers (Catholic hierarchy)as it threw out the idea of the earth being the centre of the universe, I do find a somewhat similar line of thought from atheists regarding the Intelligent Design theory. I actually spent time this afternoon looking at Dawkins, whom I've read copiously, and I must admit that, while he is brilliant, he has this similar rather agressive, atheistic line drawn in the sand. He sees anyone who has ID theories as being somehow blinded by a preconceived belief in a deity. However, the same charge might be laid against him as he has made a career of atheism (not just biology). It's all very interesting and I love learning about this with an open mind.

Not to get too carried away with the science/philosophy stuff, I would agree that RYTAC is an Intelligent Design and would really hate to lose it. It is special to the Soo and not many places have that kind of location. I would love to see it being taken over by those with a sense of vitality and vision and turned into a sports and water resource for all the youth in the Sault.
