flyhawk25 11/1/2012 7:57:54 AM ReportA new day in a new month.
Will we see yet again another new Mitt?
Will he be for more troops overseas or against it?
Will he favor bail-outs or opposed?
Will he support health care reform or encourage it?
Will he embrace federal intervention in disasters or leave it for the Red Cross?
Quick. Check which way the wind is blowing out of Rush's mouth.
And if he is elected...
will he move the head of the government to Salt Lake City? Will he support polygamy?
Will he finally make Rush Limbaugh an elder in his church and refuse to smile at Governor Christie?
So many questions and so little time...
Bob the builder 11/1/2012 7:58:39 AM ReportWell, another Halloween under my belt, in more ways than one I'm afraid. I haven't heard of any shanagians with the treats which is great. One thing I do want to mention is how polite ALL the kids were. After getting their treats I was a given a "thank you" and "have a happy Halloween". This revived my faith in young people.
Grace 11/1/2012 8:00:58 AM Reportjean-paul..I'm old enough to remember trick or treating when Nixon masks were popular..they weren't a compliment or show of support. More of a villification of the distain people felt towards him.

Wisenheimer 11/1/2012 9:11:29 AM ReportPundits are suggesting Obama may have clinched the election by "looking presidential" over the hurricane. Strange that a man who has been a disaster as president for 4 years could win by "acting presidential" for 1 week. Poor America.

theprotector 11/1/2012 9:32:03 AM Reportso much for harper's policy on the economy. Watch the attempt to do an end run around it with passing the blame onto the world economy. Harper should not have implimented his policies until the world economy stablized. Instead his actions are dragging us in to the mess. Even in good times his policies would have hurt Canada now we will be worse off then the usa.
right wing 11/1/2012 9:33:42 AM ReportAh November 1st, and new beginnings.
What new excuses will we hear from Obama?
How Obama had all the answers — has always had them — and the economy would be roaring if not for that pesky Congress.
More grand and glorious spreading of the blame for his four years of failure.
Perhaps a dash of the "evil rich people" and the "one percents" and how he'll make them pay.
Obama will inspire by telling the masses how this is about "you the people" and only you can make things move forward. (obviously he can't)
Will his next speech be The Gettysburg Address, I Have a Dream and We Shall Fight on the Beaches all rolled into one.
Will he promised to cut the deficit in half again if he gets a second term and then propose more trillion dollar deficits.
Will he promise again that lobbyists won’t work in the White House but hand out more waivers to work there.
Will he cut earmarks or double them again.
Will he once again tax those making less than 250,000....oh wait it's 200,000 now.
Will he finally close Guantanamo.
Will unemployment numbers be lowered again due to millions more giving up.
Will Obama buy a new Chevy Volt.
Will Obama ever end the Bush policies that he has kept in place.
So many questions but thankfully so little time left for Obama.

What do you think of those Medicare contributions that are taken from their Social Security checks, an increase to $120 per month in 2013 and $274 per month in 2014 under Obamacare.
It's going to make it really tough for seniors to make ends meet, no?

Big Bad Bob 11/1/2012 10:47:57 AM ReportAccording to the French media, Sandy has pushed Obama 5 points ahead of his rival, but they have not provided any explanation for the fact. I was wondering whether the US-watching faction on this site would attribute it to God or the Devil, but then I remembered that it’s none of their damned business in any case. No matter what the final outcome of the election turns out to be, they will have no say in the matter other than hoping that our own political leaders will know how to deal well with the winner in our interest.

Councillor Lou Turco good at what? He was afraid to show up at a Ward 4 ratepayers meeting.
What,is he afraid of actually having to be accountable to the taxpayers of Ward 4?
We are talking about a Councillor who did not show up for Budget nights on different occasions while he has been on council.
Let us not forget Councillor Turco's voting record on council. A little trip down memory lane...
Lou
Turco, Voted for the Budget that gave $276,000 to the Innovation Centre
which didn’t present a business plan before getting its funding in
2005.
Voted to give core funding to the Innovation Centre in the 2006 Budget, adding an annual levy on resident’s taxes.
Voted
against the Queen Street West residents, imposing $13,000 in sewer
fees. He initially supported them and then switched his vote.
Councillor Turco is best known for supporting the truck route which was heavily opposed by residents of his ward.
Other than former Ward 3 councilor Bryan Hayes missed more Council meetings than any other Councillor in the last term.

BIG BROTHER 11/1/2012 5:43:10 PM ReportJC,
Isn't it telling that all the goombas, who were previously bad mouthing Tony, are predictably quiet now. Tony accomplished more from the bleachers in Parliament than Hayes can manage to accomplish from right under Harper's desk!!
If you follow closely enough, you'll notice they are the same crew who have bad mouthed Obama to no end, yet are all over you when you happen to remind them of their previous hero Dubya!!
It's more than a coincidence that Dubya, Cheney, Palin, Rove, Rumsfeld, McCain et.al are strangely absent for the campaign to elect Romney. They are sad reminders (can anyone say 'ashamed'!) of what the GOP handed over to Obama and the rest of the world. Romney doesn't need any more baggage than he already is carrying.
statusquo 11/1/2012 5:56:31 PM Report"Tony accomplished more from the bleachers in Parliament than Hayes can manage to accomplish from right under Harper's desk!!"
What's to be accomplished under Harper's desk, one might venture to guess.

Nothing personal just pointing out the voting record of the longtime Ward 4 Councillor .
Politicians are like underwear every once awhile they need changing.
He is an elected Ward 4 Councillor and does answers to taxpayers of Ward 4 on election day.
shakespeare 11/1/2012 7:05:55 PM ReportI am a happy man, today. Regardless of to to and fro of political bickering and insults, to which I am a part, when one's child or grandchild has a serious health threat, everything pales in comparison. For the last weeks we have been in a state of heightened anxiety, which has been greatly alleviated with news today. I won't go into detail but even if you are unsure about a mole and doctors or nurse practioners say "It looks fine to me", persist! As the Cancer doctor said today, "Melanomas are chameleons". Catch them early!
shakespeare 11/1/2012 7:13:36 PM Report"practitioners"
Grump 11/1/2012 7:16:20 PM ReportBig Brother I cetainly was no fan of Tony. Nothing personal just the fact that we got nothing while he was in. I'm no fan of Hayes either for the same reason. I would take Obama over Mitt and his morons any day of the week. So please don't lump all of us with the goon squad.
Snobank 11/1/2012 7:30:59 PM ReportCongratulations on your good news shakespeare. Reading between the lines of your last post, I bet you have been through a load of anxiety. I've been in a similar situation my self. I'm really glad it's working out for you.
AceOfBass 11/1/2012 7:36:59 PM ReportGrump Hayes did nothing on City Council he was just another one of the lapdogs. Now he is just a lapdog to the PM.
Do not get me wrong here.I like Harper,I just cannot stand lapdogs, brown nosers, and butt kissers.
This city council is no different than councils we have had over the past 20 years.
The only Councillor that is really for the people is Frank Manzo.
Councillor Frank Fata, is starting to wake up and speak his mind.
The others are all there just for the pay check every two weeks and all the freebies and food they can take home after the council meetings.
BIG BROTHER 11/1/2012 7:43:06 PM ReportGrump and JC...I'm not pounding the pulpit in favor of Tony. Having said that, it was Tony Bashing (remember Tony 'do nothing') galore for way too long, ad nauseum. Now, we get the man connected to the party and well, not much yet. And I don't expect much. At least though, keep what we had!!
Tony was/is a good person who believed in grass roots action. And he delivered on that.
Grace 11/1/2012 7:47:19 PM ReportAce..I heard from someone that used to work at city hall that there is quite a spread put out including a fully stocked fridge if you know what I mean..drinking on the job? Hope not,
statusquo 11/1/2012 7:49:24 PM ReportShakes,
Events such as you allude to sure do put things into perspective.
The topics we discuss and argue in this sandbox day in and day out are of little importance in our daily and immediate lives . Every now and again one might glance upon a nugget of brilliance and sanity and that is for the most part, why I peek in here on a regular basis .
But I've been always keenly aware that strong family ties and cultivating relationships of friends and other folks that actually matter in one's life is far more important than discussing esoteric topics presented to us via all sources of media.
Having said that, the View Room is a form of community and we have all sorts in here. From the village idiot(s) to the fundamentalist nut case, the sexually depraved and a duck.
Having said that, I am glad things seem to have turned out well for whomever you were referring to and , not being religious and therefore I don't pray, but my thoughts are with Skipper Dave and I hope things went well for him.
Grump 11/1/2012 7:57:10 PM ReportStatus I echo your feelings. I haven't met Skipper but we have chatted on here once in a while.
saultontman 11/1/2012 8:18:00 PM Report"From the village idiot(s) to the fundamentalist nut case, the sexually depraved and a duck."
LMAO!
shakespeare 11/1/2012 8:22:55 PM ReportThanks Status: From what I understand, Skipper had his surgery in Sudbury but there have been issues since.
flyhawk25 11/1/2012 8:27:10 PM ReportHere's a few nuggets that I actually read today.
-consumer confidence in the US is the highest in 5 years;
-MA was 47th in job creation under Romney;
-NY mayor Bloomberg endorsed Obama;
-NY Times "...Romney blithely deceiving voters desperate for clarity and truth."
Hmmm.
Spellchecker 11/1/2012 8:35:14 PM ReportSaultontman, I think I have all those designations figured out. The village idiots are anyone with a conservative viewpoint and any other viewpoint excluding atheism, the fundamentalist nut case is me, the sexually depraved refers to himself and his inflatable doll, and the duck is, of course, our morning greeter, jean-paul.
nanag 11/1/2012 8:46:09 PM ReportI kinda like the duck
statusquo 11/1/2012 9:21:33 PM ReportI have to leave it to you spellmister, you have a keen intellect.
Having admitted to the fact that you are a "fundamentalist"...i.e a true believer of the literal interpretation of the "Book of Gloom" it vexes me to think that at the same time you consider yourself a staunch opponent of socialism .
Believing in God in all it's demented forms is in fact the ultimate of socialist submission. Think about it...you're created, owned, your actions and even thoughts are supervised 24/7 by a central committee (leader/God) the outcome of your life and humankind is pre-planned. Illnesses, suffering, death and destruction are all planned in. Furthermore, without God you'd have no moral compass..in essence..an animal. or so the saying goes.
He has a divine plan, like the central planning committee of any self respecting socialist state.
You sure are an interesting fellar and I can't wait to down a few with you sometime soon..."in vino veritas" , but in order to do that and consume copious amounts of spirits you'll either have to agree to spend the night with me and Darlene, or you have to provide shelter for me and let me sleep in your shed.
Having said that, my latest vapulations directed at you are by no means personal, but merely provide for heated discussions.
And one more thing...I have always wondered why Jesus didn't wait another 2000 years or so to spread the message. I mean, a couple of millenniums are mere seconds in the cosmic sense. Why not come now?..imagine the following he would have with facebook, twitter, youtube?
Someone would have him on his cell phone walking on water and raising the dead.....Wolf Blitzer could comment live on the crucifixion...imagine the ratings....
statusquo 11/1/2012 9:27:29 PM ReportBefore I forget,
why is the past more sacred than the present?
I think it is because it is mysterious and not readily held up for scrutiny.
We in the present are as salient if not more so than anyone having lived before us.
But for mystery's sake, ancient myths are more regal by mere distance.
statusquo 11/1/2012 9:47:15 PM ReportAnd before I retire , and lay myself down, dreaming of Satan.....let me tell you that I am an ardent fan of the Old Testament...that book kicks ass.... that's a God of my liking...vengeful, jealous, brutal and unforgiving.
But I am at a loss with His preoccupation with foreskins and pork.
Enlighten me.
Grace 11/1/2012 9:55:54 PM ReportPolling data from multiple sources...
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/polls/
nanag 11/1/2012 9:56:32 PM ReportWow..S..Q..heavy stuff.. but please allow me to be me for just a sec. so Darlene is your blow ummm ahhh blow up doll?
Grace 11/1/2012 9:59:44 PM Reportstatus I'd be glad to pick this topic up with you tomorrow. If you'd like.
Old testiment is a great book of history.
statusquo 11/1/2012 10:01:11 PM ReportGrace,
With all due respect....I am sick and tired of polls.
I know you're fascinated with polls and such. But maybe you should concern yourself with hubby's pole. "It" may need some attention.
(smiley face)
Grace 11/1/2012 10:02:05 PM ReportPig...lol
Spellchecker 11/1/2012 10:05:12 PM ReportStatus, aren't you going to answer nanag?
Spellchecker 11/1/2012 10:08:03 PM ReportGuess not. He and Darlene must have hit the sack.
statusquo 11/1/2012 10:09:50 PM Reportnanag,
No. Not really.
"Darlene" was a made up name I came up with when describing the ubiquitous , overweight dame, clad in spandex, shopping at Walmart with a plethora of ethnically diverse, snot-nosed kids in tow, loading up her 1993 Plymouth Voyager with a leaking water pump with Doritoes, jumbo sized sanitary pads and several gallons of Javex.
Then someone in this room suggested that Darlene might be my Blow-up sex doll I must have ordered from Costco....and I went with it. The rest is history.
Spellchecker 11/1/2012 10:12:13 PM ReportHe's lying nanag. He and Darlene were an item long before the Costco discussion.
statusquo 11/1/2012 10:12:29 PM ReportNot quite spelly,
I am pumping her up but darned...she won't reach 20 psi...must have sprung another leak!
I guess it's just me and Miss Right tonight.....damn it all to hell!
Grace 11/1/2012 10:13:01 PM ReportI see Staten Island residents begging the One for help.."help us president Obama"
Frustration is changing to rage.
nanag 11/1/2012 10:15:48 PM Reportohhh geez... I guess I get what I asked for... I have quite the visuals floating around in my over active imagination ;)
Spellchecker 11/1/2012 10:16:23 PM ReportObama had his photo-op in the disaster zone. He's way out west now campaigning.
flyhawk25 11/1/2012 10:17:27 PM ReportGrace...absolutely.
It's his fault. Just ask one of Mitt's Morons.
Mitt wants less Big Government - maybe he'll fix it personally.
statusquo 11/1/2012 10:18:36 PM Reportwhat visuals nanag?
the Plymouth Voyager or miss right?
I am getting turned on.
flyhawk25 11/1/2012 10:19:14 PM ReportSpelly...no he is not.
He is burning down a Mormon temple in Des Moines.
Check your facts.
nanag 11/1/2012 10:31:43 PM ReportWell let's just say ????... Plymouth Voyager full of snot nosed kids.... NOT
Spellchecker 11/1/2012 10:33:52 PM ReportWait until he starts preparing one of his recipes.
Spellchecker 11/1/2012 10:43:32 PM ReportEnsure you have a functioning scroll button when that happens.
nanag 11/1/2012 11:03:54 PM ReportOMG.. we get to turn the clocks back this weekend..!!! it will feel almost like a sleep in day... since I have given up my weekends off I miss sleeping in past 6:30
