Will he embrace federal intervention in disasters or leave it for the Red Cross?

Well, another Halloween under my belt, in more ways than one I'm afraid. I haven't heard of any shanagians with the treats which is great. One thing I do want to mention is how polite ALL the kids were. After getting their treats I was a given a "thank you" and "have a happy Halloween". This revived my faith in young people.

so much for harper's policy on the economy. Watch the attempt to do an end run around it with passing the blame onto the world economy. Harper should not have implimented his policies until the world economy stablized. Instead his actions are dragging us in to the mess. Even in good times his policies would have hurt Canada now we will be worse off then the usa.

What new excuses will we hear from Obama?
How Obama had all the answers — has always had them — and the economy would be roaring if not for that pesky Congress.
More grand and glorious spreading of the blame for his four years of failure.
Perhaps a dash of the "evil rich people" and the "one percents" and how he'll make them pay.
Obama will inspire by telling the masses how this is about "you the people" and only you can make things move forward. (obviously he can't)
Will his next speech be The Gettysburg Address, I Have a Dream and We Shall Fight on the Beaches all rolled into one.
Will he promised to cut the deficit in half again if he gets a second term and then propose more trillion dollar deficits.
Will he promise again that lobbyists won’t work in the White House but hand out more waivers to work there.
Will he cut earmarks or double them again.
Will he once again tax those making less than 250,000....oh wait it's 200,000 now.
Will he finally close Guantanamo.
Will unemployment numbers be lowered again due to millions more giving up.
Will Obama buy a new Chevy Volt.

I was watching CNN last night and they were talking about Hurricane Sandy. I was really amazed to see all the damage that had occurred. One thing, that really caught my attention was watching people getting onto a bus. People were pushing and shoving and almost knocking down an elderly couple trying to get on the bus. Funny, how a storm brings out the worst in people.

It was another great year, my lil guy loved the reactions to his costume (a big monster in yellow holding his head). All the kids had a great attitude and not too many big kids either.
on a side note, homemade costumes get your kids way more candy than some store bought piece of plastic..... mine got two handfuls from everyhouse!! The better costume or the younger the tricker treater gets the most candy

According to the French media, Sandy has pushed Obama 5 points ahead of his rival, but they have not provided any explanation for the fact. I was wondering whether the US-watching faction on this site would attribute it to God or the Devil, but then I remembered that it’s none of their damned business in any case. No matter what the final outcome of the election turns out to be, they will have no say in the matter other than hoping that our own political leaders will know how to deal well with the winner in our interest.

Unlike many other snipers on here who whine and hide he is willing to back up his position face-to-face.
So if I lose the bet I'll man up, pay up and try to smile through the tears.
Either way I got a hundred bucks worth of fun out of it, two good charities will profit and the cyber scabs won't show at a Summit.
Time for the stretch drive!

Snobank...nobody.My point is that I initiated the Summits to have an opportunity for folks with different opinions to meet and chat.No one forces me to go over to the Tiltin' Hilton to have a beer with Spelly in the summer.
No one forces SQ to bring Darlene to my favorite watering hole to yack and rub her vinyl.
It's called agreeing to disagree civilly.
All of the back and forth debate is fun but it won't change anything.
But the ones I choose to engage with have manners and grace.

If you follow closely enough, you'll notice they are the same crew who have bad mouthed Obama to no end, yet are all over you when you happen to remind them of their previous hero Dubya!!
It's more than a coincidence that Dubya, Cheney, Palin, Rove, Rumsfeld, McCain et.al are strangely absent for the campaign to elect Romney. They are sad reminders (can anyone say 'ashamed'!) of what the GOP handed over to Obama and the rest of the world. Romney doesn't need any more baggage than he already is carrying.

I am a happy man, today. Regardless of to to and fro of political bickering and insults, to which I am a part, when one's child or grandchild has a serious health threat, everything pales in comparison. For the last weeks we have been in a state of heightened anxiety, which has been greatly alleviated with news today. I won't go into detail but even if you are unsure about a mole and doctors or nurse practioners say "It looks fine to me", persist! As the Cancer doctor said today, "Melanomas are chameleons". Catch them early!
I am a happy man, today. The topics we discuss and argue in this sandbox day in and day out are of little importance in our daily and immediate lives . Every now and again one might glance upon a nugget of brilliance and sanity and that is for the most part, why I peek in here on a regular basis .
But I've been always keenly aware that strong family ties and cultivating relationships of friends and other folks that actually matter in one's life is far more important than discussing esoteric topics presented to us via all sources of media.
Having said that, the View Room is a form of community and we have all sorts in here. From the village idiot(s) to the fundamentalist nut case, the sexually depraved and a duck.
Having said that, I am glad things seem to have turned out well for whomever you were referring to and , not being religious and therefore I don't pray, but my thoughts are with Skipper Dave and I hope things went well for him.

Having admitted to the fact that you are a "fundamentalist"...i.e a true believer of the literal interpretation of the "Book of Gloom" it vexes me to think that at the same time you consider yourself a staunch opponent of socialism .
Believing in God in all it's demented forms is in fact the ultimate of socialist submission. Think about it...you're created, owned, your actions and even thoughts are supervised 24/7 by a central committee (leader/God) the outcome of your life and humankind is pre-planned. Illnesses, suffering, death and destruction are all planned in. Furthermore, without God you'd have no moral compass..in essence..an animal. or so the saying goes.

Having admitted to the fact that you are a "fundamentalist"...i.e a true believer of the literal interpretation of the "Book of Gloom" it vexes me to think that at the same time you consider yourself a staunch opponent of socialism .
Believing in God in all it's demented forms is in fact the ultimate of socialist submission. Think about it...you're created, owned, your actions and even thoughts are supervised 24/7 by a central committee (leader/God) the outcome of your life and humankind is pre-planned. Illnesses, suffering, death and destruction are all planned in. Furthermore, without God you'd have no moral compass..in essence..an animal. or so the saying goes.
He has a divine plan, like the central planning committee of any self respecting socialist state.
You sure are an interesting fellar and I can't wait to down a few with you sometime soon..."in vino veritas" , but in order to do that and consume copious amounts of spirits you'll either have to agree to spend the night with me and Darlene, or you have to provide shelter for me and let me sleep in your shed.
Having said that, my latest vapulations directed at you are by no means personal, but merely provide for heated discussions.
And one more thing...I have always wondered why Jesus didn't wait another 2000 years or so to spread the message. I mean, a couple of millenniums are mere seconds in the cosmic sense. Why not come now?..imagine the following he would have with facebook, twitter, youtube?
Someone would have him on his cell phone walking on water and raising the dead.....Wolf Blitzer could comment live on the crucifixion...imagine the ratings....

why is the past more sacred than the present?
I think it is because it is mysterious and not readily held up for scrutiny.

And before I retire , and lay myself down, dreaming of Satan.....let me tell you that I am an ardent fan of the Old Testament...that book kicks ass.... that's a God of my liking...vengeful, jealous, brutal and unforgiving.

"Darlene" was a made up name I came up with when describing the ubiquitous , overweight dame, clad in spandex, shopping at Walmart with a plethora of ethnically diverse, snot-nosed kids in tow, loading up her 1993 Plymouth Voyager with a leaking water pump with Doritoes, jumbo sized sanitary pads and several gallons of Javex.
Then someone in this room suggested that Darlene might be my Blow-up sex doll I must have ordered from Costco....and I went with it. The rest is history.
