What is really telling is the numbers in the swing states, amongst women and the youth group.
Romney is up in all of them and way ahead nationally.
Gallup states that no president in the history of the U.S. elections has lost an election with the lead that nationally Romney holds over Obama.

Tonights debate on foreign policy should be very interesting. I am looking forward to Obama's positions on how tee times are book overseas, and how producers on foreign talkshows get people like Obama to come onto their shows right after a cooking segment.

On and how best to ignore foreign threats agianst their own so as not to hurt the feelings of terrorist organizations.

For those of you wondering about my beef with the local police stopping my wife 3 times for weird reasons...it has been resolved to my satisfaction.

I was called on short notice for a job overseas for a few weeks so couldn't immediately pursue it. My wife handled the tour of the station with my sons, and questioned the stops as a sidenote.

In a nutshell, it comes down to local police watching too many US cop shows.

You're correct, flyhawk. He might as well attend that game. Tonight's debate is about foreign policy and his is a disaster. However, Romney will have to contend also with the latest liberal moderator, Bob Sheiffer. Let's just hope he doesn't inject himself into the debate like Crowley did.

I can't believe anyone would still vote for all that liberalism. It just goes to show the state of the country when so many people are becoming dependent on the government. Trouble is, the money is running out and the only way the government will be able to get it is to destroy the currency with their quantitative easing (monetary inflation) to infinity.

I would like it if we talked more about things going on here in Canada. Did you hear about the person who was working for the government in Quebec had managed to hack the RCMP's computer system. Now that's really scary. Imagine if he hacked into more government agencies and found information that no one is supposed to see and leaked it out to the world. We would be in big trouble.

"Either way this election turns out, American jobs are going to continue to get slaughtered by the millions. During this campaign, Mitt Romney and Barack Obama have both attempted to portray each other as the “outsourcer in chief“. Unfortunately, they are both right. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney have both participated in the outsourcing of American jobs, and both are openly admitting to the American people that they favor the emerging one world economic system which will continue to destroy millions of American jobs. In fact, they argue with each other about which of them will be more aggressive in pursuing more “free trade” agreements over the next four years.

The US was there enforcing a no-fly zone, with no troops on the ground. I would guess that the Republicans would have just dropped a smart bomb that would have only eliminated the guilty parties, deployed 250,000 troops into the area to see if there were any weapons of mass destruction, and charged it all on their credit card. And by the way, enforcing the no-fly zone was credited with saving many civilian lives and ending the government's rule.

For goodness sakes folks. Who really cares who wins or looses tonight. The people of the USA will vote for whomever they want, and then we'll have to deal with that.
Now WHAT IS IMPORTANT is McGuinty proroguing Legislature and we know why. He would have been cited for contempt of Legislature, the waste of taxpayers money with the EHealth debocle, the Orange scandal, the 230 millions with the concellation of 2 gas power station gone because they wanted to save 3 Liberal seats in the golden horseshoe, the scandals, and now we have to wait until the Liberals elect a new leader which will be done on January 29th 2o13...yes 2013. So nothing can be done for now, Just what has been voted on. All bills in the Legislature that were not voted on died.

Old Cat 33..

0600 is the same as 6Am, now as you are aware there are different time zones around the world so that say it is 6Am here in Sault Ste Marie. it will be 11Am in London UK. So to avoid confusion BOAT and TRAIN time is local time, which means that any boat or train leaving the Soo at 6Am will be the local time here at the Soo. The exception to all this would be if you threw the word ZULU into the mix which if you said 0600 zulu that would be 0100 local time here in the Soo. Zulu being the military time based on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Hope that clears that up for you.
Of course what screws it all up is when you add the "summer time" time into the mix. which sometimes gets me mixed up when the UK turns the clocks back and we dont for another month and also when we go forward in spring and they don't..

Brianne, US-based multinationals have laid off 900,000 workers in the US. At the same time they have hired hundreds of thousands of workers in countries like China and India. Can I get a hooray for unbridled capitalism? For major companies in the US, the US consumer is not the big market anymore. US consumers want the cheapest possible product and don't care where it comes from. With the slow erosion of the middle class, the buying power of this group to buy US-made goods is drying up. Can't afford to buy US-made goods means reduction in US manufacturing jobs. The US needs to open markets for their goods or manufacturing will slowly diminish, to the detriment of their economy. The circle of life continues, unabated. Our biggest market is the US and you think the US government should do something about that? They should alter our Free Trade Agreement to keep more US jobs?

oldcat... you're hitting on one of my bugaboos -- rundundant phrases.

" 0:600 that means 6:00AM in the morning"

6 am IS in the morning, it is unneceesary to say "6 am in the morning."

Another I hear far too often is "We're celebrating our 10-year anniversary."

An anniversary is the annually recurring date of a past event, so adding "year" to the sentence is unneccessary.

It is either one's tenth anniversary, or one is celebrating being married for 10 years.

No one says "I'm having my 50-year birthday."

All of that time, effort and expense on all of the bills on the table before the House now lost. Add it to the bottomless pit of the liberal expense account which he walks away from and which we have to pay for. How can Orazietti even attempt to defend this guy? Or has he? Ironically, as I type this, there is an ad in the right column of my screen of a smiling Orazietti saying: Putting You First. Maybe he meant 'putting', as in golf because he has certainly helped to drop us into a hole!!

Just an amusing thought today. I don't post often because there is not much to say that hasn't already been said. For the last 2 months or so US politics have been the central topic.
My amusement is that if you want to give anything a bad "spin" call it political, or anything that can't be justified. With the amount of fascination to control things out of our control I can only assume that most on here are to some form insane, as to the definition of insanity "saying or doing the same things over and over expecting different results" This is much like reading comic books. CBC News

NDP MP Romeo Saganash was removed from an Air Canada Jazz flight from Montreal to Val D'or on Friday after it was determined he was too drunk to fly.

The flight was delayed by half an hour as Saganash was escorted off the plane.

"It was Friday, it had been a long week, and we're all stressed out at that time," Saganash told CBC News on Parliament Hill on Monday. "I apologize."

"This is the first time that it has happened in thirty years in the air. I regret what happened and it won't happen again," he said.

Saganash was elected to represent the Northern Quebec riding of Abitibi-Baie-James-Nunavik-Eeyou in 2011. He was a well-known Cree leader and negotiator before entering federal politics.

He ran for the NDP leadership last year but dropped out part-way through the campaign.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Romeo Saganash blogs for the The Huffington Post Canada.

MY NOTE: Why do they state "he was too drunk to fly", I doubt he can fly and I'm sure he does not have a pilots license. Should it not say to drunk to ride?
It was the first time in 30 years it happened in the air....well that's good cause in the air is the only place you fly and I'm sure they did not escort you off in the air.

Scientists Convicted of Manslaughter after Quake

"L'AQUILA, Italy - Six scientists and a government official were sentenced to six years in prison for manslaughter by an Italian court on Monday for failing to give adequate warning of an earthquake that killed more than 300 people in L'Aquila in 2009.

The seven, all members of a body called the National Commission for the Forecast and Prevention of Major Risks, were accused of negligence and malpractice in evaluating the danger and keeping the central city informed of the risks."

The case has drawn condemnation from international bodies including the American Geophysical Union, which said the risk of litigation may deter scientists from advising governments or even working in seismology and seismic risk assessments.

"The issue here is about miscommunication of science, and we should not be putting responsible scientists who gave measured, scientifically accurate information in prison," Richard Walters of Oxford University's Department of Earth Sciences said. "This sets a very dangerous precedent, and I fear it will discourage other scientists from offering their advice on natural hazards and trying to help society in this way."

Do ya think....just what we need, lets start putting Scientists in jail because they just don't understand Mother Nature enough.

Actually, although many complain, Biden did the right things but over-stepped himself and thus turned what could have been a white-wash into a tie.
right wing 10/22/2012 7:07:15 PM Report

A tie????

Well you can take comfort that you and perhaps a dozen others believe it was a tie.
Even the left leaning main stream media had to choke and admit that one.
...but hey, your hearts in the right place.

;)

status: I know you are a mechanical genius. I was quoted $2300 for parts only on a Jesuit Priest ( a Catholic converter)for my SUV. Is this reasonable?
right wing 10/22/2012 7:16:56 PM Report

...and shakey, Romney can come out tonight, smile, yawn, shake his head, do anything he bloody well pleases and he will still win.
The pivotal point already happened it's called Romneymania.
shakespeare 10/22/2012 7:19:53 PM Report

You may well be right ... but "Romneymania" ??? That's like getting excited about Pablum.
mallet 10/22/2012 7:30:52 PM Report

Grace...

I would really like to watch the Debate. unfortunately I have a couple of things that need more urgent attention.. I have to watch some paint dry.. seriously i don't want it to run.. and the other is I have some grass that needs to be watched growing... the kind that needs mowing NOT the smoking kind, but you have a great evening doing whatever it is you do when watching the boob tube!!
flyhawk25 10/22/2012 7:33:22 PM Report

right wing...holy cow.
Your discourse on 'How to Win Wars For Dummies' should become a classic.
Typical knee-jerk reaction and one size fits all response.
Unfortunately those are real people, real homes and real lives changed forever.
If only it were that easy.
You can't just fly a banner on an aircraft carrier that says 'Mission Accomplished' and serve up a plastic model of a turkey in a mess hall and declare victory my friend.
Remember it was Dick Nixon who railed about Cronkite and CBS bringing Viet Nam into American living rooms at supper time.
Don't forget to include color photos of real war in the book and pen and ink drawings for your posse to color.

shakespeare,

Say what you like, not my words, it is the word being used to describe what has been sweeping the nation and to explain the commanding lead Romney has over Obama in various polls.
Babies get excited about Pablum, I should purchase some stocks in Gerber as there are going to be a lot of lefty cry babies on November 7th.

You really should lay off the gripe water at night, your making about as much sense as a an epileptic frying bacon in the nude!
Grace 10/22/2012 7:49:55 PM Report

Mallet...If watching the grass grow and paint drying is more to your speed...I say...go for it!

I was thinking of a debate night drinking game. Every time the One interupts "The Rom" ....drink!
Every time he looks down and frowns...drink

what should be the required poison?
whisky? rum? has to be something that symbolizes the event!

Grace

I have nooooooo desire to listen to 2 politicians debate at 9 p.m. tonight or any other night. I don't care what they have to say because talk is cheap and it is all lip service and trash talk. When either one of those 2 do something worth talking about I may (might , but not likely) sit and listen. Until then I would much rather use up my valuable time watching something that gives me much more pleasure.. like watching football and baseball. Politicians and constant political talk by arm chair "political experts" does nothing but give me a headache
Grace 10/22/2012 8:02:20 PM Report

Hence..the drinking game!
right wing 10/22/2012 8:03:36 PM Report

Grace

Tequila!

Don Julio.

Salt and Lemon optional.
Grace 10/22/2012 8:05:25 PM Report

My thoughts exactly!
nanag and Mallet don't want to play...their loss!
Grace 10/22/2012 8:07:13 PM Report

nanag wants to watch something giving him or her pleasure....I guess if porn floats your boat..
Grace 10/22/2012 8:08:23 PM Report

oops sorry...more pleasure!
flyhawk25 10/22/2012 8:14:26 PM Report

Knock yourselves out kids.
I'm going to watch an event without a predetermined outcome - baseball for all the marbles.
If that gets slow I'll switch to da Bears.
In the morning I'll read my standard dose of print analysis and then check this site out.
No matter what happens in the debate - right wing will declare Romney a winner, his posse will all sing the chorus and bluesy will insult whoever shows up.
Yawn.
mallet 10/22/2012 8:36:36 PM Report

Grace and R W..

My choice of poison is Rum and Pep...
nanag 10/22/2012 8:37:59 PM Report

Grace

Seriously? Porn ? grow up.... wow.. drinking already .. before the debate even starts.. so much for your drinking game. That sort of proves my point...like drinking in a bar the more you drink the better people start to look to you... The only way a debate is any good is if you get plastered while watching it.. the more you drink the better your guy sounds...that explains a lot of what is said here by all the blue room political analysts
bluesslinger 10/22/2012 8:52:55 PM Report

Yes Grace, just got home, looking forward to it!

I'm sure nanag is too.

I'll have a glass of wine probably, but your drinking game would cause me to miss work - your rules are a recipe for alcohol poisoning!

Enjoy!
