3.30 am it has been over 24 hours since Blackie has been seen.

Spent TWELVE hours at 300 block of Black road hoping to see or find Blackie left her blanket and my vest there in case she comes back.

Please friends of Blackie keep your eyes peeled she may have moved to another area..Mantitou Park,P patch,or second line, she is headed west she'll follow the sun..

Dogs are incredible friends who will travel for miles to get home.

If you see Blackie report it here and on the other sites thanks Ron.

"Come away shakey, Rolling Stone a right wing mag, ROTFL. Far from it, my friend. You're lost in lefty land."

Above example is but one illustration of what can happen when you get stuck for so long in a world view limited to "righty" and "lefty".
Indicative of the decay in reasoning is the liberal use of internet slang..i.e ROTFL and a limited capability to discern humour and/or sarcasm.

I was waiting for the typical racist slant yesterday from one of the lefties and of course Big Bro did not disappoint.

"For the most part, they hate Democrats, no matter what. But, a black one puts them right over the edge."

It is always, always the left, that points out that Obama is black...personally I had not thought about skin colour, only a debate, one that Obama lost...badly.

This morning the US unemployment rate dropped to 7.8%.
President Obama was right. There will be a recovery but it will be gradual.
Perhaps as a sign of good faith Mitt could bring some of those offshore jobs home that he moved at Bain.
right wing 10/5/2012 8:51:46 AM Report

Obama still has a chance, as flyhawk25 stated, there are still two more debates to go.
Lets see, one on foreign policy and one town hall debate.
Obama's foreign policy record is worse than his economic one.
Perhaps at the right moment Obama can pull Bin-Laden's skull from behind the podium and hold it up in the air.
I've seen Obama do town hall meetings, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh,....yep Obama's in trouble.
I agree flyhawk, the public always remembers the last one the most.

Then.... up steps the debate and Obie on his "foreign Policy" record.
That's where all of America will get to see Obie's foreign policy has been to avoid, duck, apologize, go golfing, and hang with the ladies on The View.

The majority of pundits, including those frequenting this site, obviously consider that Romney won his first Presidential debate with Obama. While noting that this does not necessarily mean that Romney will win the coming Presidential election, and reiterating that only the US electorate will decide that, if Romney does in fact win, I wonder what the pundits expect Romney to do for Canada that they believe Obama has been neglecting to do.
Cashmier 10/5/2012 10:43:51 AM Report

In general, I have to conclude that the debate was a tie - neither side changed opinions. People with a rightward slant believed that Romney won, people with a leftward lean believe that Obama won. Even the news outlets were all over the place with their assessments.

Because I like standing a little left of center, I thought that Romney lacked support in his arguments and claims - probably because I don't find his achievements as the Governor of one of the richest states very impressive. It's easy to get stuff done in that situation.

In addition to which - he is trying to make the economy the focus of his platform, but he isn't going to decrease funding to military and isn't going to raise taxes. If the US doesn't start getting to work on it's debt deficit, their economy is never going to recover. They need to improve the strength of their dollar so they can improve their trade position. Irony.
learningaswego 10/5/2012 10:56:41 AM Report

"...Even the news outlets were all over the place with their assessments.."

Surely you jest.
If anyone was keeping score, about 90% of news outlets say Romney "won", and handily.

Oh oh - Spellchecker you got 3 million in chump change lying around so we can buy this letter that is up for auction this week - Got to fight the heretics!

Decades before atheist scientist and author Richard Dawkins called God a "delusion," one world-renowned physicist - Albert Einstein - was weighing in on faith matters with his own strong words.

“The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends,” Einstein wrote in German in a 1954 letter that will be auctioned on eBay later this month. "No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this.”

Dubbed Einstein’s “God Letter” by the Los Angeles-based auction agency that's posting it online, the original document will be up for grabs starting Monday. The opening bid: $3 million.

Wisen and Learning - actually, for about an hour and a half after the debate ended the critics and news stations WERE all over the place on their assessment - because of their biases. Unfortunately, I tend to be a very busy person... so I don't have time to continue trolling for updates or watch TV all that often. And frankly, I don't really care what the critics and newscasters think because their assessments are a result of their bias - I try to avoid the subjective views of others in situations like this... not valuable to the process. I will take MY bias, and make my own decision.

As I said, this was not a debate that challenged anyones political bias. I highly doubt that it affected the views of the undecided either.

Flyhawk, your boy Obama got handed his head in a hand basket at the debate.

Like Mitt or not he is still better than Obama. Bain Capital, Romney had left that business when the jobs were shipped overseas.

The job rate dropped by.3% from approx 8.2 to 7.9.That is nothing to be proud about.

Obama gave 50 years of subsidy's to the green energy in one year than they failed.

Obama excuse's for the debate was
1)I did not have my teleprompter
2)the air in Denver was too thin
3) It was Bush's fault

Obama dropped the ball on Bengahzi costing 4 American lives.

Obama lied to the American People,
the Navy Seals were CIA agents along with the ambassador Stevens were trying to retrieve the Weapons they gave to the Libyan rebels. They rebels turned out to be AL Qaida and Muslim Brotherhood people.

The Video was an excuse made up.What protesters bring grenade launchers,RPG and heavy weapons to a protest?

Oldie Goldie 10/5/2012 4:31:49 PM Report

The Republicans---with the 2 Bushes in charge--- ran up the largest Deficit in the history of the U.S.A.

Romney said he was going to fix all of that without raising Taxes but he has no plan to do that or he would have mentioned his plan in the Debate.

Talk is easy when you don't have to prove that you have a plan.

If I was a Right Winger I would not be tempted to gloat over how Romney is going to cut the U.S.A. deficit when he has no plan.

I heard Romney say that he was going to bring the Democrats and Republicans together in the Congress.

That is wishful thinking when both parties are solidly entrenched in what they believe.

Over the last 4 years the Republicans made no attempt to work with Obama---What makes Romney think that the Democrats are going to work with him after what the Rep.Party members did to Obama.

As for the Debate---only the Election will tell who won and there is still 2 more debates to go.

We turn over the carcass for cleaning, de feathering and cooking to the women folk. Nothing says thanksgiving better then sitting down with a bursting belly, snifter of brandy, a fat cuban cigar and the sound of the ladies cleaning up in the kitchen. Yep living the dream! Ace,

"Flyhawk, your boy Obama got handed his head in a hand basket at the debate."

With all due respect Ace but, I don't think so. Obama looked tired and aloof and he looked like he didn't want to be bothered with Mitt. Who can blame him?

Which brings me to a different topic i.e..."head in a hand basket"..never heard this one before. I think it's "going to hell in a handbasket".

Be it as it may......sayings I never understood...

"That's the cat's ass"...

-What is so special about a cat's ass? Are there sexual connotations to it? And if so, would Jesus frown upon it?

"Up the creek without a paddle"

-I would never ever dream of going "up" a creek if I wouldn't have a paddle.
Now, if you were going "down" a creek and lost your paddle, well then you'd have a problem as you'd lose the ability to steer the canoe.

"the shit hitting the fan"

- who would go for number 2 near a fan?
(but I do see the consequences)

"Bob's your uncle"

- Possible....but why not Larry?

and last but not least.....

"tighter than a nuns's....

-well...not now....the kiddies are still up.

Good to hear.
Treating customers fairly is the only way to go while keeping in mind that profit is never a bad word.
I learned a long time ago that customers that bring you to point of telling them to f--k off are a nightmare to everybody they deal with and everybody knows they are a pain in the ass.
It was a great freedom when I learned that the customer is NOT always right.
We do a lot of winterizing.
Winterizing of seasonal "cottages".
I find it hilarious what some folks call their "cottage".
This has been the best of the last three years for us.
statusquo 10/5/2012 8:46:12 PM Report

rw,

Funny you should bring up "profit".
For some people it's a nasty word, for me it is "income"...or "food on the table".
"Profit" is the money I have left over after I pay insurance, rent/mortgage , city taxes, heat, snow ploughing, PUC, updates on scanners, new tools, wages etc.
80 smackers an hour seems like a lot of money but when you add up all the expenses and the fact that one does not work an entire day for eight hours at that rate it withers down pretty quickly!
Coupled with the fact that I have no benefits of any kind, no job security, no "collective" bargaining privileges, it is easy to understand when folks like you and I have to bite our tongue when teachers and other public employees go on strike to demand things that for us are an utopian idea.
It is what it is and nobody forced me to choose the path I have. I am not starving but it is hard work..day in...day out. I don't mind it as long as I am healthy and to be honest, I could not imagine a life playing golf!
