Was funny to watch the CNN gang just absolutley stunned...James Carville flat out was disapointed with the ONE and looked as he actually admired what Romney had just done.
Quite often Obama looked downward at his notes as Romney pounced on the president's record. At one point, the Democrat quibbled with debate moderator Jim Lehrer who tried to cut him off for going over his allotted time.
Advisers to both Romney and Obama predictably said their man emerged victorious. Obama adviser David Plouffe told reporters in the spin room that Romney appeared "testy" at times.
Yet CNN pundents labled Obama as listless..angry and didn't want to be there.

Obama looked tired indeed and I have to say that Romney almost managed to sell me a bottle of snake oil.
I wonder how many people caught on how slippery Romney's maneuver was when he weaseled himself out of explaining why his Massachusetts health care plan is in essence, the same that Obama is pushing through?
If we believe the "experts" this race is far from over and with the usually poor voter turnout in the U.S anything can happen.
And that is my opinion of U.S politics for the day folks....I wouldn't want to be berated by "Big Bad Bob" in his usual condescending, pompous manner from his Chateau in France.

I watched the debates on several channels but not Fox.
Obama's "thrill up my leg" media smelled blood just like I stated they would and I did not want to miss them choking on the words they had to say.
Romney dominated the debate.
A CNN poll taken Wednesday night.
"The poll, conducted following the debate in Denver, showed that 67% of debate watchers believed that Romney won the showdown, while only 25% said Obama was the winner.
According to CNN Polling Director Keating Holland, "No presidential candidate has topped 60% in that question (who won the debate) since it was first asked in 1984."
Some polls had Obama placed even lower, at 18%.
Of course now we will hear from our lefties, whom I might add are noticeably sparse this morning, (kool-aid hang over ya know), how this all means nothing.
Flyhawk bailed on his contender yesterday, along with a couple of others, as he knew Obama would get an ass kicking.
It's the lefty way, turn, run and statements like "Why bother?","

For someone who has been touted as such a great speaker, Obie Hope and Changey was a complete DUD last night.
Maybe when Obie doesn't have a teleprompter to read an "inspirational" speech that somebody else had written for him, he's not such a shining star.
In all honesty, I got the impression last night that Obie doesn't even want the job anymore. Maybe he just wants to hang with his rap star buds, do the talk show circuit, and just be "cool".
He can handle that stuff.

Sure easy said when you don't work and are priveledged with a maid and servants. She knows nothing of how women struggle because they are the 47%. I don't see Mrs Harper with such a snooty attitude. Mrs. Harper is respected.

I did not watch any of it and actually have been reading reports and reactions all morning.
When left wing pundits like Carville and Maher say that Obama was disappointing it's time for Mr. Obama to regroup.
Assuming that Biden will get steamrolled by Ryan the president has two more kicks to explain his record.
Realistically sometimes the conservatives get power - witness Harper and Harris.
I don't agree with it but so what.
If the local so called experts on here want to keep the myth about Mrs. Obama's trips circulating I can't do a brain transplant electronically.
Of course none of it is true just as her husband's golfing days are baloney.
So keep quoting Rush and Hannity and CNN/Fox 'polls'.

I think the VP debate will be even more lop-sided.
Biden is about as inspiring, convincingand compelling as watching off-white paint dry.
Unless he commits some kind of unexpected gaffe, Ryan could easily improve the Republicans' chances in the debate with Biden.

Oh yes. Let's mimic the bobbing heads and spin doctors into believing the whole campaign came out of this. Everything said after the debate was already thought out and prepared for prior to the debate. We know that they both talked in grandiose terms. The Republicans, who really have not come forward with any numbers, required that strategy. Tax cuts and increased spending to defense(tied to 4% of the US GDP) while at the same time sticking it to people reliant on government spending, required deflection which Romney attempted to do. Obama, on the other hand, had to be presidential, while at the same time deflect weaknesses in his budget and not get argumentative on any one aspect. He required giving hope to the unemployed, knowing, full well, that Congress holds all the cards. Tough act to do. With no firms numbers for the Republican policies, as to where all the money will come from and what cuts to what programs, it was difficult to pin them down on a variety of issues.
Therefore, he also had to talk in terms of the big picture. That was the flaw that I saw in watching last night's debate

Anyway to more important news for WE Canadians I am glad that PM Harper is reeming into XL foods and that they may be shut down for good.
If they cannot comply and show their food safety documents they cannot be a trusted source for our food. This company hires so-called part time foreign workers who will toe the line to keep their measly wages at the expense of having workers who understand that if the product is tainted they ain't going to have a job. XL was harrassing whistleblowers most of whom where full time Canadian workers. Thanks to them no more hamburger on my table.

eversons, just so you know, the 411 you recieve from the mothership is much more reliable and un biased than any NPR polling data.

Thanks for the comment RW. But once again you resort to the fall-back Reforma-con mantra of attacks. Let's forget about Republican stonewalling on almost all pieces of legislation, paying for two wars on credit, financing the Bush tax cuts on credit, and the financial fallout of the toxic housing mess, creating the huge debt in the first place. Since Congress controls anything that deals with taxes, how can Romney say Obama will raise taxes or that Obama is cutting defense? Considering that Americans, as a whole, are way more conservative in thinking, it is surprising that Obama was carrying a lead at all, going into the debates, though I don't put much stock in polling numbers. Never have and never will. I will stand by my original comments and leave the insults and character assassinations to the Neo-Con/Reforma-Con people.

djjazz, we need to know which president is going to screw Canada next. If you want something Canadian, why isn't the pipeline heading east and why is Canada not building a refinery here? Why is information the greatest fear of this government? They don't want information that may go against their ideology and they don't want to release information so that Canadians can make up their own minds, as to what this government is doing.

i don't care about politics, BLAH.....i'll tell you what's got me twisted today, why would a brand new store not have wheel chair access on it's doors?! i love country style coffee, but i took my hubby in there for the 1st time today, possibly the last, cuz, they don't have automatic doors!!and pushing a wheel chair through an entrance without such help is a major prblm.......get with it ppl, why are some stores still ignoring accesability laws, or just plain ignoring a whole segment of society that shops and helps pay their wages?! It just makes me so tired.........

tbbs, are you serious? That is horrible you and your husband had to go through that ordeal. I would definitely file a complaint against Country Style because they should be wheelchair accessible since they are a new location. I don't know how they can even get away with it in this day and age.

I think they "get away with it" because it is not a new building. I don't think existing buildings have to conform to the accessibility bylaws. It is a shame because I don't expect that you and your hubby will be return customers. It was very shortsighted on their part.

No question...Romney out-slickered Obama and for what it's worth, he won the debate.
We've all watched Obama for long enough to know, he is much better than he showed. He left out many interesting facts (potentially damaging anecdotes), seemingly on purpose.
'All sizzle but no steak' came to mind, as I watched Romney.

There are quite a few restaurants that have opened in the city lately after renovating and they do not have wheelchair access. I can name 3 right off that do not have the proper access. Why would they not put the wheelchair access if down the road they are going to have to? That doesn't make sense to me.

It's quite interesting to read all the expert Canadian opinions both right and left. I had a chance to speak to an older affluent looking American this morning at the hotel who said he shut it off after 20 minutes because he was disgusted with both. Kind of a different take don't you think?

Debate theory - I'm so cynical that I am of the opinion that O'Bama (Who was born in Ireland) took a dive and their both playing to the gate? Right down to the wire it's been pre-scripted and just like the moon landing is controlled by the CIA!

Older, stout (my description), affluent Americans generally belong to the Republican demographic. (ie: rw)
For the most part, they hate Democrats, no matter what. But, a black one puts them right over the edge. They realise slavery was wrong, but not for the 'right' reasons. They simply didn't like the competition of free labour in the Southern labour force.
The Tea Party, which has drawn the whole right wing further to the right, are not appealing to moderate Republicans, but the Mitt Romney's of the world are pandering to them, mostly to appease them (they are a powerful lobby). But also, their votes are necessary to win.
The gentleman you are referring to is likely tired of the whole scene because of those reasons...no one left to vote for.

Two thinks that I noticed, though, Romney voice, accent and intonation reminded me of R. Reagan, not much the body language but the way he spoke at some points.
Second; seems to me like Obama is done. He did his part in history and now he only wanna be home with the kids, no more White House for him, no matter what.
I's stop watching it because Romney didn't said how will he balance revenue and cuts. How will he reduce government and create jobs.
He's the challenger and he deserves some credit for it, but is seems obvious to me that Obama has aged at a speed of four to one.
The best kept secret is the percentage of the subsidies that the banks are using for savings and which percentage is injected back in the monetary circuit as loans, no one knows if it is 70/30 75/25 90/10 or just zero. Seems to me that the monetary circuit is drained by the second. And one reason could be the feared inflation, or what is even worst, stagflation.
