A judge just stopped a voter photo ID law in Pennsylvania for the presidential election.
Good.
It and others like it is just a thinly veiled attack by Republicans to keep minorities from voting.
Politics is rampant with corruption but this law would not have done anything but disenfranchise folks who simply don't have photo ID or access to birth certificates.
It is not only unconstitutional but mean spirited and speaks to the level of animus the white power elite have for the 'others'.

Knowing what cons are capable of doing on elections day... from installing the ballot box on top of a light pole to whatever you can imagine, the need of a photo ID to cast the vote is a must.
Not only cons, but generally those drunk with a fake patriotism and power will never accept a limitation and control.
Do not forget that the reform to the health system and the implementation of the regulations was passed with the vote of the Democrats and no vote of the Republicans.

They are not 'illegals'.
They are American citizens who don't have photo ID. Their only offense is that they are generally older, minorities and likely to vote Democrat.
While you're checking do a study on who are in prisons. No racism there at all.

How do they file their taxes? Pay municipal and school taxes register for selective service Get bank account..cash cheques?
It should be up to them as citizens to make sure they comply to the rules of voting. I'm sure that if they are so far removed..going to vote must be tops on their list of things to do!

This country (US) is over 200 hundred years old. If they haven't figured this basic democratic principle (right to vote) out yet, then heaven forbid the countries that they just forced into their form of democracy. ie. Iraq

Blues, so what. The Republicans pay their people $11.25 to attend Obama events. How much money is spent by third party groups doing the same thing. You only had to watch the events that unfolded in Florida a decade ago to realize that anything goes in politics. There should be ID shown, as proof of who you are. It shouldn't be limited to just photo ID, though. They could enact a provision, after this election, stating that for the 2014 elections and all elections after that, there will be proof required, much like what already is in place in Ontario. The problem in the states is that every state has their own monopoly on the rules.

You need a system to ensure ONE vote per person.
How you could achieve this without requiring at least some form of valid ID is beyond me.
Further, if you don't have photo ID, how do you ensure that a person isn't just "loaned" a bunch of ID's, and votes several times? Answer is, you can't.
A system without checks and balances to ensure one vote per person will be RIFE with fraud.
Oddly, it's people who are usually leftist voting, who scream foul when any kind of reasonable controls are put forward.
People who tend to vote conservative, have no problem whatsoever with rules to ensure one vote per person.
Why? Because they have nothing to hide.

Voter fraud has taken place right here in Sault Ste Marie.
There has not been a proper nose count in this city for any of its elections.
There are people on the election roll that voted in two places and the dummies at the polling station did not catch it.
Some people voted in Ward 5 as they were on the roll and then voted in Ward 6 as there name with a different spelling was there on that roll.
You can have multiple properties and residences and be voting in both places
if the enumeration is not done every 4 years.
The system has no correction system.They just used the old roll and add items to it by building permits.

Seems a system is needed where:
a) prove you are eligible to vote
b) prove that you are the person that you claim to be
c) as soon as a person votes, it goes in to a computer system immediately and where, if the person tries to vote again in the same election at any other location, a computer picks that up immediately, notifies the election workers, and the vote is denied.

I'll tell you how 'fool proof' our system here is.
At the last election I took my daughter to vote. Even though she had a photo ID from OHIP and a voting card the official wanted something with both her picture and her address - I assume a driver's license.
She does not drive.
So I had to swear an oath that she was who she said she was and lives where the card said she lived.
Since she is on ODSP and I have power of attorney we complied, I grit my teeth and we left.
The unxious little jerk calling the shots was so full of himself that I did not want to cause her any more trauma.
I chalked it up to the price of democracy.

ID of some sort that proves who you are should be required. And even that could pose a challenge for some. Photo ID is something else again.
We're quite lucky in that regard here in Ontario -- OHIP card, driver's license, passport, student card and there are probably other examples. And although I'm not a world traveller I have been to parts of the USA where in spite of knowing the date and year, you could swear that you've just gone back in a time warp. Get off the main highways and take some real back roads in places like West Virginia, the Ozarks, the Appalachians and the bayous of Louisiana. Completely different worlds! Photo ID? Hell, there are places here where they don't even have hydro.

I think that Photo ID law needs alot of work because they left our the people that aren't able to get one because they don't have access to any transportation and therefore cannot get down to a government office to get one. And voter fraud is always happening anyways because of computer or human error and usually is never found out.

The Pink Pony hasn't even announced his candidancy for the head of the Liberal Party and already the MSM are making him into a slightly paler version of the Anointed One from the USA. The CBC is showing his mug every 15 minutes and the acolytes are lining up to shower praise upon the littlest Turdeau. Another pretty face but no credentials is apparently all you need to run for political office in Canada. Maybe I should run {as good lookin' as I am ;)).

A late comment on voter ID. I am in favour but the problem in the U.S. was the lateness of tackling the problem. It was done to try to keep votes away from the Democrats. If these states had been truly concerned about voter fraud they would have made the changes after the last election. This would have given them an opportunity to provide everyone with ID and everyone the opportunity to obtain it. The courts have recognized this and some states appear to have done so themselves, such as Texas and Wisconsin.

If these states had been truly concerned about voter fraud they would have made the changes after the last election. This would have given them an opportunity to provide everyone with ID and everyone the opportunity to obtain it. The courts have recognized this and some states appear to have done so themselves, such as Texas and Wisconsin.
