RLE 9/26/2012 5:02:16 AM Report

My son came over to visit about 9:00 pm and like a dummy I had two cups of coffee. So at this ridiculous hour I'm all bright eyed and bushy tailed. Went on TinBu to check gas prices over the river. They are up significantly from yesterday[avg. $4.13/gal] because I need gas. I felt a bit better when I noticed that gas is $5.86/gal. in Orlando,fl. That is the highest price in the U.S. and even higher than SSM Ont gas prices.

Morning RLE,

Same here....can't sleep...I've been preoccupied with the possibility that the producers of "Glee" will likely ax the character of "Karofsky".
Things like that do bother me.

Anyhow,
the high gas prices are easily explained.

I finally came around and I have seen the light. The persistent, chronic frothing and my wild eyes were interfering negatively with my life, work and interactions with loved ones and pets .
Under advice from rw I enrolled in an online course/therapy program , sponsored by my Church and it opened my eyes to the real goings-on around me and gave me a new sense of reality. This online resource is run by an obscure academic by the name of Prof. Bluesslinger.
His name has been "anglicized" from its original ,either Austrian or Southern German roots of "Blauscheisser".

His myopic yet illuminating tenets appear, at first glance to be stemming from a single cell organism but upon further reflection, one can truly see the profound cretinism of it all .
Now then, imbued with this new and liberating outlook and completely froth-less I will explain to you why the gas prices are as high as they are.

If you invert the letters of "Obama" you get "Amabo". In Latin, the phrase "Amabo te" means "I shall be obliged to you". Who is Obama obliged to?... you may ask, well let me help you (close your eyes and imagine Dana Carvey as the "Church Lady"from SNL.........

SATAN!!

He was sent here to corrupt and destroy humankind with healthcare and high fuel prices! A truly Machiavellian plot.
Furthermore, everybody knows that Obama is allergic to dogs. If you read "dog" backwards what do you get?....I rest my case!

Good morning RLE and Status and all other sleepy heads. Rle I think it's something to do with getting older. In former years I could drink 6 or 8 cups of coffee in the evening and I would be gone before the first bounce of my head on the pillow. Now I lay off the stuff in the evening. Stats great post as usual. Poor old Blue'eser. Have a great day all.

I have some questions. Who owns the majority of the gas stations in Soo Michigan? Are they Canadian owned? If they are Canadian owned that would explain why there is such a high price of $1.39/LT on our side in order to make us go to Michigan. In London this morning it's $1.23/LT for a non border city. I have no answers for these questions but it sure does not make sense to have such price differences in Ontario.

Well Obama sure made Muslims around the world shake in their boots.
At his U.N. speech he told the Muslims that if he can take some name calling and insults while being President they can handle some insults about their Allah.
Problem solved, "The One" has spoken and cleared that up.
The world can rest at peace now.
Obama thought he would teach by example and hurdle some insults of his own by skipping out and not meeting with one world leader face to face, an unprecedented move by a U.S. president.
Netanyahu has been trying for some time to have a meeting and it was also a perfect opportunity for Obama to meet with Morsi, Egypt's newly elected leader, but hey Obama's press secretary said he had a busy schedule.
Was it not Obama that just last week stated his "number one priority" is keeping US diplomats and embassies safe.
You might think that meeting with leaders from the middle east might help with this but...Obama knows best.

Obama bounced outta there because he had to appear on The View and consult with Whoopi, Hasselbeck and Behar about foreign affairs.
Don't these world leaders know there is an election going on, I mean really expecting to meet with Obama, The View is number one with women and those middle east guys wouldn't understand anyway.
Even the Associated Press raised an eyebrow on this one.
Right Winger 9/26/2012 8:42:20 AM Report

The Michigan Soo gas stations are owned by Amricans. The Admiral station whose gas is always the cheapest is owned by a cigarette company. But all those who whine on here about the price of gas in Soo Canada and the gouging, FYI, SOO Michigan is alway near the highest prices in the state. Why? Because they know all the Canadians will still buy it because its cheaper than our side. But once you strip away the taxes, there is far less of a discrepency.
shorty38 9/26/2012 9:02:20 AM Report

Price fixing is supposed to be illegal, saying that I wonder how all gas prices are the same in Sault Ste Marie, seems like someone is fixing ???

Has anyone noticed, Soo Michigan prices vary at different stations, no fixing there.

However them Yankees all keep their prices about 25 to 30 cents cheaper than Soo Ontario, just keeps us going back, good bussiness sense.

Libya's president told NBC News that the anti-Islam film had "nothing to do with" a deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate that took the lives of Ambassador Chris Stevens, as well three other Americans.

Obama, fresh from consulting with Hollywood, slithered to the podium at the U.N., apologized to the terrorists and extremists and boldly declared to the assembly that the film was the cause of the attack.

Any other president would be bombing training camps by now.

Speaking of Hollywood, Madonna generously endorsed BHO as the "black Muslim in the WH". Awesome!

No wonder the little lefties in here don't like to admit they are lefties.

I was reading about the ban on chemicals in bath salts in Canada when I came across this in the article.

"Bath salts captured international headlines in May after media reports suggested the perpetrator of a face-eating attack in Miami was high on bath salts. However, it eventually came to light there was only marijuana in the attacker's system."

I'm sure most of us remember that gross story but I had not heard that there was only marijuana in the face eaters system.
I thought marijuana only sparked junk food munchies...sweetc, anyone....explanation.

So much 'substance' that neither Bush Lite nor the former governor of Alaska now living in exile were allowed near the podium at the RC.

Some substance - Dirty Harry babbling to an empty chair.
This is getting funnier by the day.
learningaswego 9/26/2012 1:17:05 PM Report

No worries, here in Canada Justy boy has the leftist Canadian msm right on board, to help sell his charm.
The lefty msm just loves politicians with the charm factor, and couldn't give a rat's derriere if they actually achieve NOTHING.
If Justy boy wins the Lib leadership, he would have to win the prize for a party leader with the thinnest CV ever.

Unfortunately (IMHO) here in Canada, in the vote count - phoney charm and likeability is all that a good chunk of the voting public cares about.

In the big picture, the Conservatives have even less to worry about their chances of winning the right to govern after the next election. The following one though, may be another matter. Hopefully they can set the country well on course for a sustainable future, within the current, and next mandate.

mvnnth 9/26/2012 2:05:57 PM Report

My goodness. I had to review my posts to try to fathom what could have unleashed such venom. Nothing I found in my posts was anti union or even hinted at a dislike that I might harbour for teachers. That left the possiblity that flyhawk25 and Shakespeare might have a problem with a few of the points I presented.

The use of the word "volunteer" to describe the teachers who run the school after hours programs is disingenuous. What probably started as an expedient way to run extra curricular programs on the part of the schools is now just another duty to be performed and, in some cases, grudgingly so. Not good for the students, not good for the teachers and not good for the programs. The sooner the teachers can be relieved of these responsibilities the better for all concerned.
The teachers are not volunteers.

The bargaining process between the union and the boards is bizarre and has led to a situation in which the pay scales are seriously out of kilter with the rest of the workforce in the public sector. The government has taken an important first step. It will be years of wages tied to the COLA before there is sanity in remuneration in the school systems. The strike ban should be made permanent and extended to the entire provincial civil service.

As previously noted, I do not dislike teachers but I do dislike anonymous people sitting at keyboards who, after having run out of ideas, resort to name calling and insults. A couple of these hypocrites on here did just that last night. The fact that they were/are teachers, I am certain, is mere coincidence. I think it had something to do with oxen and goring. In any event they should be ashamed of themselves.

flyhawk25 9/26/2012 2:33:17 PM Report

I can't speak for shakes but I am left confused by this latest rant.
I think the writer meant to say that
'teacher coaches/mentors should not be volunteers' because right now they are.
Unless they are -and we were- being blackmailed. In which case I missed it.
I do share the writer's disdain of anonymous posting and would welcome a face to face debate - anytime and anywhere.
shakespeare 9/26/2012 3:51:21 PM Report

Sometimes you have to call it like it is, mvnnth. You were confronted with the truth yesterday and in a sneering tone you refused to accept it, then eventually, grudgingly accepted it and then start on a whole new line of confusing nonsense today. You have an ax to grind but are not being open.

Really a simple "I was wrong; I'm sorry" would have been sufficient!

PS: you hide behind yoiur keyboard, too.
Jimssm 9/26/2012 4:02:07 PM Report

Teachers ARE voluteer, as far as extra-curricular is concerned.

They understand that without their presence, the after school activity wouldn't happen. You can wish all you want for enough parent volunteers to handle it, BUT YOU STILL NEED A TEACHER PRESENT.

Actually JP, I don't think that mvnnth is a reincarnation of "she-who-can't be mentioned". The former often has some good points, but has really gone astray the last two days. I'm still trying to figure out "venom" (would "stubborn nincompoop" be better than "jerk"... maybe!) and I'm still perplexed as to why either I or Fly is a hypocrite. I know the definition of the word and fail to see how it applies. Anyway, JP. I think your'e wrong on this one. I would stick to the quacking.

I will leave this topic repeating my offer - if anyone wants to debate the issue I'll be happy to meet in a neutral spot face to face.
I'm too old, broken and tired to waste cyber-energy trying to change any closed minds in an anonymous setting.

Good evening everyone. The neo-cons seemed to have piled it rather high today. I just remembered the news I heard today. Flaterty has been after large corporations to spend their reserves to boost the economy. John Manley, President and CEO of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives shot back that with Flaterty's own doom and gloom predictions on the economy why would they be silly enough to risk their reserves. I guess sooner or later the neo-cons will get the fact that these clowns are bad for Canada in spite of all their hype.

As far as Justin T. jumping into the fray..well...I say why not?
He is a bit young and "douchey" and carries a lot of baggage ( Pierre E. being his "fajer" and all that sort of thing)...Canadians never really liked a leader with brains and the metric system and most of all, they truly do indeed enjoy the State peering into their bedrooms, or so it appears from a distance.
Let Justin give it a shot.... even though Canada needs someone with a beard or a devout Christian or something.....what's the Liberal party got to lose anyway?
They ruled this country for most of this century and did rather well...putting Canada on the map and enshrined regulations that prevented us from falling into a financial maelstrom like the rest of the globe....but hey...they screwed up with that Quebec sponsorship "scandal" that amounted( in the scheme of things) to 10 cents on the dollar.
And now we got Harper and his merry crew.....as they say...we deserve the government we voted for.
