Here's another bit of Romney reality.
In Ohio a coal company - Murray Energy - supplied the coal miners to serve as a background for Mitt's campaign ad.
So there is the commercial of Mitt standing in front of the miners in work gear and dirty faces.
The problem was that the mine closed for the day for the photo-op and the men did not get paid.
But the owner - who has donated over $400K to the Romney campaign - explained it "Attendance was mandatory but no one was forced to attend."

I did some digging into Mitt Romney and Bain capital.
I wanted to find out as much as I could about the claims of Romney purchasing companies and then shutting them down simply to make a profit as reported by the left and it's supporting main stream media.
This is one of the most widely made claims by the left.
The second is that Romney was a "pioneer in outsourcing".
This has widely been dismissed by non-partisan fact-checking reputable organizations.
(the facts are there you can find them)
You do have to dig as you will be flooded by all the claims of Bain's supposed misdealing before you get to the truth.
One of the first things you realize is that the number of companies that the democrats make these claims about is in the single digits compared to the hundreds of companies Romney and Bain were/are involved in.
The truth is it is difficult to drive through most any city in North America and many parts of the world without seeing a business that has Romney's name on it.
The following are the highlights which I have shortened to the main facts.

On the assumption that Mr. Romney made his fortune legally, whatever the manner, I would be grateful for an explanation of the importance or significance of that detail for Canada in the event that he wins the coming US Presidential election. If we were being told that he had made it as a crook, I could understand the importance or significance for Canada of that in this context.

On a slightly different note..
There is an article regarding the sanctions on Iran and how it is pushing up un-employment in that country along with all the problems that comes with lots of people having nothing to do. This U S led idea is possibly one of the reasons that many middle eastern countries have a slight dislike of the U S and the west in general, and when (and if) they decide to hit back, will this be the precusor to another WMD intervention like Iraq.
One has to wonder at the mentality of the people who come up with these ideas, you really want to stir up an already unstable country, I guess logic is not a prerequiste for top politicians and their advisors...

There is an article regarding the sanctions on Iran and how it is pushing up un-employment in that country along with all the problems that comes with lots of people having nothing to do. This U S led idea is possibly one of the reasons that many middle eastern countries have a slight dislike of the U S and the west in general, and when (and if) they decide to hit back, will this be the precusor to another WMD intervention like Iraq.
One has to wonder at the mentality of the people who come up with these ideas, you really want to stir up an already unstable country, I guess logic is not a prerequiste for top politicians and their advisors...

old-cat... I'm sure skipper can provide a better answer, but I believe the whistles are used to alert traffic that may not have radar and/or VHF radio, as well as to provide another method of locating each other when visibility is reduced.
I lived downtown (Albert and Dennis) when I was a wee lad, and remember hearing ships whistles used routinely... today they are heard rather infrequently. I miss hearing them.
