Good morning everyone, I enjoyed the posts from last evening. Things to consider. Choose a profession that there is a demand for or a shortage in. The normal schools have been pumping out new teachers for years, far over the demand for them. I expect they got the raises they got because McGuinty was trying to upgrade the system. The OPP are not able to get enough suitable applicants for their openings. Firefighters have pretty well all been political darlings. Now we get to the trades where there are huge shortages. I expect the reasons for this are many. A long apprenticeship, you are goint to have to actually work, you are going to have get your hands dirty and maybe best of all you will have to work for sweethearts like rw and myself. LMAO. Have a great day everyone.

BIG BROTHER 9/18/2012 7:48:32 AM Report

Nice try Grace!

Mitt just ensured Obama 4 more years. Basically told 40% of the voters that he doesn't care about them. That is the true colours of the person.

Oh, the hidden camera at a political fundraiser!! Well, what was the fundraiser...a KKK meeting? ahahahahahahahaahaha...

"Way to go Mitt"

Is the emphasis on the "go"?

Gotta love this one also.

Todd Akin, the republican who overrode science, claiming a raped woman couldn't get pregnant, therefore she must have been consenting. Well his wife said she now feels she is being raped by the GOP group who are trying to oust her husband out of the party!

Too bad Mitt's ignorance is out 'newsing' this story. Both are hilarious!

Mitt is saying he doesn't care about the votes from that side because he feels (and rightly so) Why waste money on campaigning to people who will not vote for you? He doesn't say he doesn't care about THEM as Americans. Also, too bad its not in one whole but in snippits. Wonder what was said between those clips.
Mr. Poster 9/18/2012 8:26:39 AM Report

With all the negative numbers attached to Obama he is still the frontrunner. It is obvious Americans are not ready for THE MITT. It is now Obama's election to lose. Who would have thought that just a few short months ago?
Spellchecker 9/18/2012 8:30:15 AM Report

Right wing and Snobank, I'll see you at the Essar tonight.
flyhawk25 9/18/2012 8:32:06 AM Report

Incredible.
But expected.
I wondered all night what spin Mitt and his apologists would put on his words.

He just portrayed 47% of Americans as folks who don't want to work and want government to support them.
Not only is that unfortunate it is wrong.
And stupid. And the best Mitt could say was that it was "poorly edited".
Talk about deflection.
He said it. It's on tape. What's to edit?
It makes me wonder if he says stuff like that at fundraisers for believers what does he say privately?
Is this the kind of person Americans want in the White House?
Other than the Tea Partiers, red necks and millionaires?
Poor Mitt - there just aren't enough millionaires around to push him over the hump.
Spellchecker 9/18/2012 8:39:19 AM Report

Half the country is dependent on the government now. They, along with all the lefty special interests and Hispanics wanting amnesty for their illegal immigrant cousins will probably ensure a second term for your man. Goodbye America, and it will happen even if Romney gets in. It can't be stopped now after Bernanke's third round of unlimited quantitative easing kicks in.
Spellchecker 9/18/2012 8:43:05 AM Report

At least if Romney gets in we can start blaming Obama for everything like you guys are still doing to Bush.

right wing 9/18/2012 9:03:13 AM Report

Grace

Did you expect anything other than the frenzy the left is in when told the truth point blank.
What Mitt said was absolutely the truth.
The percentage of Americans that still believe that Obama is going to give them free gas is the same as those that vote for him based on his skin colour, they remain unchanged and he would be wasting his time trying to do so.
It is the undecided that are going to make any difference.
Of course the lefties are going to equate this to "Mitt does not care", it's politics and they believe they have been thrown a bone.
Let them gnaw on it and waste time focusing on this and the people that never would have voted for Mitt in the first place.
What Mitt said is not going to affect the undecideds, they are to smart for that.

Spellchecker 9/18/2012 9:13:36 AM Report

Sorry for my little grammatical faux pas. I'd better fix it before shakey comes along and catches me. It should have been "as you guys are still doing to Bush".

Right Winger 9/18/2012 9:49:36 AM Report

As to Mitt, this statement was a response to a question. If you are about to right a huge check to the campaign of Mr. Romney and you ask if he will spend that money on pandering to Obama's base what do you want him to say. The truth or what the public wants to hear? Or just say, I am going to do what it takes to win. Guess what Obama can say that too, so why write the check at all?

But hawk, I ask you this, how is that closure of Gitmo going? How is keeping unemployment below 8 % going? But I guess leaked video snippits are far more important that actual broken promises. Oh wait, seems like Obama said what people wanted to hear.
Cashmier 9/18/2012 10:52:17 AM Report

I've been spending a lot of time on the highways recently - which means lots of time to ponder and think.

In light of the recent escalation of anti-american protests in muslim countries, who do you think is best suited to guide America through? Do you think this will have an impact on the election, and do you think the American public is going to react thoughtfully or not? Who do you think will best be able to take advantage of the situation politically?

I'm curious to see the answers, if there are any. I know what I think, but I spent a good hour debating with myself the other day and I can see the other side too. Back to the grind - hopefully I will be able to get back later today and have time to post my own argument... oh so little time...
flyhawk25 9/18/2012 10:56:18 AM Report

You neo-cons crack me up. Talk about 'spin and deflect'.
Romney could come out with a policy to sterilize minority welfare mothers and you would spin that as an efficient use of Obamacare.
I am anxious to see ho0w you spin an Obama victory.Probably blame the lefty media, too many immigrants with voting rights or...it rained in three swing states.
Wait. If it rains it's the President's fault. Too many bleeding heart tree huggers screwing up the natural global warming trend.
Nope - that is clearly Al Gore's fault.

RW...I don't see Obama as a saviour.
Just the lesser of two evils.
Unless the Democrats get more votes in the House and Senate I can't see him being able to change much.
As for more jobs going off-shore with him as opposed to Romney - you are kidding.
The Mittmeister will be pandering to the stockholders not the workers.
learningaswego 9/18/2012 11:17:41 AM Report

No worries, lefties. Your star Obie Hope and Changey is a sho-in.

That other guy has a decent record of some pretty substantial actual achievements - and the USA is desperately in need of a leader who can achieve big things. Your star guy has zero substantial or even minor achievements, but that's for another day.

Such a huge chunk of voters in the USA don't care about objective things like tangible achievements. They like "cool", and people who will tell them what they want to hear; not what needs to be done or the truth.

So, relax lefties, the USA and world will have 4 more years of Hope and Change talk. (Many) more trillions in debt, continued record unemployment - but they'll get all the Hope and Changey talk they love.

Poor friggin' America - the new Greece in waiting.

Obama FAILED in his non response to the embassy attacks while knowing well ahead of time that an attack weas eminent. Thats' the real story and where media focus should be.

The story isn't about what Mitt says or doesn't say - it's about what Obama does or doesn't DO!

So another piece of northern ontario, The Northlander is coming to the end of the line next week thanks in part to McGuinty's ever unpopular cuts to services in this province.
Where is the superkid of politics David Orazietta and why is he not standing up for this very important service for Northern Ontarions and the hundreds of job that are going to disappear from this company, along with the demise of tourism in the north.
I say that when the next election comes around that we remember what McGuinty hasn't done for us in the north and vote him out.
I am sure that the teachers of this province will not soon forget either and lend their voices and their votes to end the liberal tyranny in this province.

Grace,

As to Escobar, he is allowed to wear that under his eyes. Freedom of speach is not the same as freedom from consequence. He is a member of MLB and the Toronto Blue Jays. He has to put out a certain image to conform to their guidelines.

Just like if last week, a teacher could have said screw it and coached football or some sport. That would not go over well with the union and the perceived bortherhood so nobody would, regardless of how they felt.

So, as I gather, the right wing mantra today was , " But Romney was telling the truth" ... I can't believe that you all don't get the point. Of course, he was telling the truth. The queen may have a fat behind, but you would not say that in public. When Romney before the Olympics complained in England that they weren't planned as well as the games in Atlanta, he may (or may not) have been right, but you don't say it publicly (that's for you Spelly!). When you get editorials like the Telegraph in the U.K.( a right leaning newspaper) in awe of Romney's stupidity and even the Wall Street Journal remarking that his gaffe may be good for the economy as it may relieve the fears in the markets of another Bush/Gore fiasco, you know that something is amiss.
I have a feeling that many true Republicans are secretly hoping that Romney loses, so that they can rebuild and get more in touch with the country. If Romney does get elected, it'll be a day to day worry that he'll ask someone in Saudi Arabia, why they wear funny clothes and aren't Mormons.

A nightcap from the simple truth.
Romney's recorded statement is not really a big deal and it is basically what his campaign has been saying to the American people all along... "Do you believe in a government-centered society that provides more and more benefits? Or do you believe in a free-enterprise society where people are able to pursue their dreams?"

Obama is so confident in himself that he is going to use the U.S. oil reserves, it's supposed to be kept for national emergencies only, (I suppose in Obama's mind this is one) to lower the gas prices just prior to the election.
Obama's going to need more than this recorded speech to help him win with a backfiring economy and rising unemployment.
I can't wait until the debates!!!!!
