Maybe then we wont be fighting with ourselves. It is easier to fight within, because we can see the opponent. Fighting the government is daunting. Yet we need to do it. We need to punch the friggin' bully in the nose!
We need to stand together. We say we are Nations. Yet we generally act like squabbling children. Fighting over the scraps that the governments throw at us. The Anishnabek Nation needs to unify itself. The band system in Canada and the tribe system in the U.S. are systems designed to divide us. Then we buy into this mindset when we look at each community as a separate nation.
I firmly believe that we, Anishnabek need to re-establish the Anishnabek Nation.
Let’s see which Band, or Tribe or Native Organization puts this over their door?

Or maybe instead of having a permanent chip on ones shoulder assuming everyone government or white is the enemy, perhaps a more successful dialogue would occur that would build positive change that has everyone appreciating each others role and circumstances. The people and governments of Sault Ste Marie want Garden River and Batchewana peoples to be successfull and have nuturing good family life. Same as we assume they want the Sault to be successful and have nuturing family lives. I think we can also assume that provincial and federal government people , MP's and MPP's want this too. We all just are constrained by lack of understanding and or monies available .
Assuming everyone else is your enemey is not the starting point to achieve your objectives.

I have had this name for years now , because I love the Nunavut territory of Canada. ............once again an example where someone assumes the worst wrongly.
The Anish nation sure does need to unify itself. Every "nation" now is treated like an independent entity, which costs the taxpayers of Canada an UNNECESSARY fortune; and they are very exclusive to outsiders from other "nations". . In the rest of Canada, if Joe and Martha want to move from Hicksville, Ontario, to EnviroBliss, BC, they just do so. There is no question about whether they are welcome, or have a right to move there, or not. Not so - at all - in the reserve system.
Good luck with that happening. In many reserves, it seems the members can't even agree on what day of the week it is; let alone bigger issues which would involve cooperation with other reserves.
TO learnhaswego of course we learned all that from the goverment give the leaders on reserve money and and they have full control oh but we do know the day and week and yr just they dont care cause they r to busy getting money and stashing it goverment showed them how to do it go figure and natives work and pay taxes prob more that u or your whole family does like said we have education of course we lern has we go! everyday is a learning day but always have to bring the natives down because we were here first maybe we should not have thanksgiving because some people are so ungratefull !!
TO Learnhasugo why do we have french speaking in canada on phone 2 lanugauges so if we r all the same why is not the french speaking enlish they need to drop french all over canada make the french in montreal and quebec speak english only fair is fair right so when they take french out of canada just english only till then they are proud frenchmen and we are proud natives
well your welcome show us the money while your at it please ask for the french too, so they can speak english everyone wants somthing id like them to be same has us speak english !!!
