Good morning Red Roomies, it's still quite dark out yet but we will switch time again soon. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning :)

Grump, that was interesting re: goat. Mmmm, eyeballs. Didn't know those were a delicacy for some.

Bobby, that video was something else! They were preparing that meat to sell it at a market or??

We live in a big world but yet most of us have no clue of the differences in culture around the world. We're in our own tiny space oblivious to anything outside our space.

Regarding the earth oven, that would be a great item to have in the yard. I recall seeing something similar at one of the hardware stores and it was over $2000 dollars, lol...yeah right!! After reading your post Grump, I searched "earth oven" and came across a site that talked about how to make one. I thought about building an outdoor oven this year...thought about it. It is something I'd like to have. I enjoy barbequing but don't really like modern bbq's. I have placed a grill over hot coals in my fire pit and cooked fish a few times and those were real enjoyable events!

Anyway, hope you all have a great day!!

A bull moose gets caught in a swing set and a BRAVE sheriff frees it.

Good morning Roomies :)

Does anyone have books to contribute to Soo Mill for the Elliot Lake library? I'll be dropping off a bunch this afternoon...we have books!

I like to cook on an open fire too Pink...there isn't a bbq out there that reproduce that taste :)

Have a great day all...ths sun is shining!

Good morning all. Have a great day, drive safe. Don't drink and drive. Don't litter. Don't rip the flowers. Don't swim in the lake. Don't walk in the Park when it's closed.

Well PP, not that I know everything, but it isn't that difficult to build an outdoor oven with mud. Get a bit of long grass and let the mud spoil for about three weeks, then you can start building it.

Good morning all.
Love open fire barbequing, dismantled our back yard one in the spring as we had not used it for a couple of years. Cooking on a gas barbeque is just that, you are cooking on gas, may as well cook in the kitchen :)
Enjoy your day, it is going to be a warm one, nice beach day at Batchewana ...on no, it is closed for the season :(

3tac, the only books I have now I want to keep. I gave away a lot of books about 4 years ago. I got tired of hauling them around every time I moved. Also, I didn't re-open them so they were just taking up space.

Bobby, I respect your intelligence and don't think of you as a "know-it-all"...you know, in the negative sense.

Wicket, that ticked me off this year too re: Batchawana. I don't go there like I used to (no car) but when I did go there a lot, often times the office was closed anyway. It's nothing like Pancake where they need workers patrolling and cleaning and stuff. Totally unnecessary opening it late and closing it early. There really wasn't a duplication of services as they say.

Morning Folks..

Little bit of cloud out here today the the sun occaisionally pokes through, however it is quite pleasant. Have a couple of other jobs to do today so I am giving the legs a rest from the roof, those angles are difficult to maintain after a while.

Talking of BBQ's Grump left before we started ours the other week, but he did meet some people he hadn't seen for a while, so he now knows we are not that remote in the boonies.

As for Bobby's "do not" list, he should try the U.K.'s "do not list" it is pages long, all thanks to a socialist government for so long. Glad I do not live there anymore, they have a "ASBO" for people like some in the Blue Room, that is an "Anti Social Behaviour Order" for those who do not conform.

Well you all have a great day out there..
Grump 9/12/2012 11:53:49 AM Report

PP with all the red clay we have around here you should be able to build one in your yard. Just work lots of straw into it when its wet, then as Bobby says let it dry up a bit so it stays where you put it and doesn't slump. Quack ,Quack you need to lay off the wild rice as you are picking up too many lead pellets and they obviously are taking their toll.
